Directions not clear for order of assembly ~ one shelf was installed backwards at the very end due to unclear instructions and directional indications which way the item needed to face and at which point there is no going back after it is installed. Entire unit would need to be deconstructed which is impossible due to drawers fitting very tight into slots that do not allow removal after the fact. Great design and pieces fairly solid but lack of precision in product manufacturing and especially in details regarding assembly so good luck trying to get it right the first time!

As the title implies, this set goes together relatively easy, and is can be assembled two ways (left/right mirror image). It took me about an hour and twenty minutes to assemble, but can probably be done in under an hour if you assemble a lot of furniture. Instructions are clear, and you do get an Allen key with the hardware, but a Phillips-head driver will be required for assembly. One thing to be mindful of during assembly is the magnets that hold the iron grid doors shut. Partially screw them on, but do not tighten those until the very end as you'll need to adjust their position for optimal operation. One thing I noticed that is of concern is the inside edge of the large iron door will slightly rub against the shelf when opened or closed. It doesn't bind, but it will likely wear a spot into the shelf with repeated use. The metal doors are hinged with simple spring-loaded pegs on the doors, and holes/bushings on the unit itself. At this price point, I would have liked to see proper hinges, or at least a more robust bushing instead of just a drilled hole. Aside from that, I did notice a couple of other areas where everything could have aligned a bit better. Nothing too concerning, but certainly worth a mention. Overall, I am happy with this cabinet. It is sturdy, attractive, and sits on a metal base with adjustable feet (in case you live in a 1930's shack like we do). As you can see from the photo, this is being used as our coffee station, liquor cabinet, and a bit of extra storage. Given the few aforementioned concerns, a rating of 4 stars feels about right. Overall it's a good unit, but there are a few issues that I would expect more from a unit that is a bit cheaper than $150. If the metal doors had proper hinges, I likely would have given this 5 stars, even if there was still some interference with the door and shelf.
