  • WILL activate on AT&T SIM card
It is NOT easy to find a phone that can make calls and text that is incapable of accessing the web in any way. This is one such phone. I bought a Kyocera flip phone, but it had creepy firmware/ spyware terms you had to agree to for the device to function. Other basic phones often also come preloaded with its YouTube or Facebook apps that cannot be removed. Tricky! I added a line to my phone plan, and my local AT&T store installed a SIM card for me, free of charge, and it connects to 4G. It’s like a candy bar phone from 1997. Feels like a toy in your hand, but the battery lasts a long time, and NO internet access of any kind. It’s not even capable of running apps. ... show more

  • Extremely difficult to assemble and get ready to use
Well, EASYFONE isn't exactly accurate. I spent many hours trying to activate this phone. I had the miniscule nano sim card that is required, and it is just that: miniscule. Make that VERY miniscule? I must have dropped it 10 times. The instructions say to "insert it" and show a diagram of WHERE, but they don't say HOW. To anyone who is as ignorant as I am about such things, please stick something sharp and thin down in that metal "pocket" where the nano card goes, and lift it slightly, or like me, you'll struggle getting it inserted! I kept just laying it on top of that pocket, because it looked like that was where it went in the diagram. I'd put the back on and then discover that was WRONG. I defy you to remove that back 5 or 6 times like I had to, and have any thumbnails left. I finally wised up (?) and used a dull knife to slide in between the front and back to open it, and there were little pieces of the plastic all over the counter from cutting pieces when trying to prize it loose all those times. The phone is NOT easy to use, once you get it activated, (activating it is another whole ballgame, btw. That was fun... NOT!) I've spent hours trying to discover just how to make a call and type a text on the thing. Still not sure how either of those is done. I will say, the sound seems to be good and even with my hearing aids, easily heard. I use a p.c. and an iPad for hours every day, and have no problems with either. This phone is a very confusing, strange piece of technology, but I had to have it for certain tasks after my old cellphone became obsolete. It did everything, and never a problem till I couldn't use it anymore. Edit: I'm finally fed up with this NOT Easyfone, and am returning it. It wouldn't make even a simple call without problems--like letting Walmart know I was there to pick up my grocery order. Simply refused. Final straw was when I placed a call to a friend, and she said I sounded like I was underwater--and so did SHE! Then a few seconds later, the phone cut out completely and she had to call me back on my landline. Maybe it was just this phone or perhaps me, but I can't recommend this Easyfone. It's a piece of very poor, outdated technology--and seems to be a lot like the old Blackberry. 🙁 ... show more

  • Texting nightmare
I got this phone, not for a senior, or because I am a senior. I got it because I wanted a simple phone that did the basics, like making phone calls, sending texts, setting alarms, calculator, etc. And I got it because I did NOT want maps, a bunch of apps, or internet distractions. This phone was almost exactly what I was looking for, but with one major problem: texting. Here’s what’s wrong with the texting software. First, when you go to the texting options, it gives you: 1. Abc 2. abc 3. ABC 4. 123 5. Writing language So it does not have the T9 option, which predicts words as you type, and makes texting so much easier and faster. With Easyfone, back are the days where you have to hit the number 7 four times to get the letter S. Second, the Abc function is supposed to capitalize only the next letter you type, making it somewhat easy to capitalize names. But with Easyfone, Abc was actually just the same as abc, leaving no way to easily capitalize words. Instead, you have to select ABC, type the first letter, then select Abc or abc, and type the rest of the letters, which is cumbersome and time-consuming. Ideally though, there should be a shortcut on the keypad for capitalizing the next letter, as with dumb phones from many years ago. Third, when I receive a text, a screen pops up that informs me I have a text. But I can’t just click a button to go straight to the text from there. Instead I have to exit out of that screen, then click 5 buttons to access the message. Fourth, each text you receive or send is in its own unique folder which makes it nearly impossible to read through a text conversation. This is opposed to the typical dumb phone which has one folder for each contact with all of your texts sent and received for that contact, and which makes your conversation history much easier. Fifth, sending group texts does not seem to be an option with Easyfone. I had a dumb phone about 4 years ago that did everything well, particularly with texting. That phone became obsolete though, and every dumb phone I’ve tried since then has become progressively dumber and less user friendly in their texting capabilities. Easyfone has certainly taken this decline to the next level. On the positive side, I loved that the phone was smaller and lighter than most dumb phones. If you don't care about texting, and want a very simple phone without a bunch of bells and whistles, this might be a good phone for you. ... show more

  • Hands down best basic voice phone I've ever used!
For those leaving 'bad' reviews for this great little phone, I suggest go back to your iPhone. This phone is a simple voice and text phone only, and is why it's so great to me. It was a breeze to set up and took 30 seconds. Receiving and making calls works great, it has fabulous clarity and voice quality. I don't understand the negative reviews and how people say it's hard to use or doesn't make or receive calls well. It's not true. Works with Tello for $5 per month voice only plan. Beautiful and simple design. Phone turns on in 10 seconds. ... show more
