Years back I had to fix my aluminum tractor transaxle with a giant hole in it. I bought a tig welder. I struggled to get the oils out of the aluminum. I struggled to get the correct alloy filler rod. It was a nightmare but I finally made a good repair that has lasted over ten years. Recently a large hole formed in our SUV's transmission when a fastener went thru it. I tried to fix it with the TIG again. No luck. Trans fluid contamination is hard to eliminate. I tried aluminum arc welding rod for the first time. I struggle to get the area hot enough to start. My old Lincoln tombstone welder will not work=low frequency caused the rod to blast all over. Hobart Tigmate worked. I fought porosity in the welds do to the flux in certain areas. The Eastwood MIG welder with the spool gun has worked very well. The welds are not porus. Great adhesion and penetration. For jobs on crappy aluminum castings, I wish I would have bought this years ago.

I like the tack weld setting. I ever welded sheet metal before and it went very well. Tried Plug welding 2T and it was easy too, I like a smooth look removing excess badging holes is going well. I definitely recommend it.

This is the fourth welding machine that I get from eastwood. I think is good product so far no complaints. The price is afordable, the delivery service excellent . But i get all my ordes thru amazon. I do not have any direct communication with eastwood that all.
