Well made guiro seems very sturdy and sound is loud and beautiful. It is quite big so wouldn’t recommend for children. As seen it the pictures it arrived damaged however I got a replacement through Amazon’s amazing customer service. And gladly the replacement was not damaged therefore the five star rating. I am very picky though so I did notice the replacements wasn’t a nice round circle on one side yet no one else noticed so I kept it. Other than this price and quality are good so I would recommend it.

The guiro is my favorite musician’s favorite Latin music instrument. She loved this item as a surprise gift. Great volume. Sturdy. Not a bad price for this level of quality. If you need projection and the possibility of outrageous volume, then this metal guiro is an excellent choice. If you need or desire a sound that is a bit more organic, then search-out a good quality wooden, or natural product, rhythm instrument. There is no shame in going old school. I awarded Four Stars, because Four and Three Quarters Stars is not an option. It did not receive the maximum because of any defect. Rather, this item may not be able to meet your needs, especially if you require a less metallic attack. This item is a must in any percussionist’s arsenal of instruments. Because, sooner or later, some yo-yo is gonna drown-out any subtle rhythms with their instrument’s volume. Yes, this sucker can get plenty loud, even before pumping it through the PA.
