The attaches video includes me playing a chromatic scale (as much as I can remember of it), and jumping between octaves with the same note, playing bits of tunes, trying out the trill keys (small keys by the right hand that move very small keys), and then just showing the condition of the instrument after 4 days of playing, with a thorough cleaning after each use. It's also after only 4 days of playing after an effectively 25 year gap in practice, so take it easy on judging my skill level!! I bought this bc I hadn't played in 25 years and someone asked me to play soon at a function for them. So I bought this to see if I remembered enough that it would or would not be worth fixing my old flute to be able to do so I've been using it about 4 days and I don't like the corrosion at the mouthpiece even though I have carefully cleaned it with the cleaning cloth provided every time (The cloth pills and will leave flecks on the case by the way.) I also don't like that the case has no pocket to keep the cleaning kit that came with it. But it IS nice that the cleaning kit is included!! Very happy with the included packaging, and the storage case is properly sturdy to keep the flute safe from the expected roughness of kids learning to play. (So long as they zip it closed the whole way.) The cleaning rod is plastic and so it bends some, which could lead to build up of liquid inside the head if you are not careful. I am obviously extremely out of practice, and so keep having trouble with notes splitting (ie - jumping between octaves when I don't mean it to) and I am finding tuning it is a pest to nearly impossible. I get it in tune for one note one time (low B flat usually) play another note and come back, or even the same one, and suddenly I am out of tune. I can't say at this point if it is the instrument or me causing this issue. It is possible the pads are leaking air, or I could just be that bad at playing right now. That all said. It WORKS. Compared to the apparent $500 or up starting cost of most beginner flutes, I would say this is an excellent choice for someone like me who played long ago and wants to try again at $90. OR for a parent who has a kid who wants to try to learn to play, but who changes their mind every month. My personal opinion is this flute will likely not hold up well over time. But of course I don't know yet. So I would think it's okay for a first year student, but should be replaced at the second year. However, keep in mind that a lower quality instrument that is harder to play and that can't sound as good as other instruments in a band, could cause some kids to become so frustrated they quit sooner than they otherwise would have. Include that in your decision process, but to me, this is a fine starter flute. I am very happy with it for my purposes and think it does seem to work well enough for a starter instrument at a truly affordable price and am just thrilled with it! I've really enjoyed playing it this week. I alsp appreciate the options of having colors.

As with many inexpensive instruments you can find online from brands outside of Yamaha you must always test them before handing them off to your students, and I must say, at least the one I got, passed my own inspection. The Concert Flute was shiny and well polished, all the holes closed with no problems, as expected with these kinds of instruments you get the white gloves, a decent cleaning cloth and its respected rod, what was unexpected was it came with an adjusting screwdriver, surprising though it did not come with slide grease to use on the joints, the stand it came with was 'fine', although I recommend buying an actual stand or one made by Hercules. Outside of my gripes and preferences, it is a great instrument for anyone wanting to try an Instrument, and perhaps better than just giving a kid a recorder to annoy the parents with.

I was at the NAMM show a couple of years ago and saw these colored flutes there, and thought it might be fun to have one, but forgot about it until the other day when I was looking for some flute accessories, and came across this one by accident. I had figured that I might pay $300-$400 - what used to be the going rate for a low-end student flute, but this was for sale for the amazing, almost unbelievable price of $86. I figured that for less than $100 it was worth a try just for the color, but I was a little leery about what kind of quality I was going to get at this rock-bottom price point. I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised - it's actually a good flute. Well made, intonation is good, sound is good. I like it a lot. I'm actually going to use it for some gigs I have coming up. The hot pink will add some bling on stage. By way of comparison, I have a few other flutes, the best being a top-end Powell that I paid north of $12,000 for. This one is around ⅔ of 1% of the cost of that Powell. And the reality is that in this day of computerized design, CNC machine processes and all the other industrial process improvements of the last few decades, these inexpensive instruments have gotten very good. As far as value for money goes, this is a much better value than the Powell, nice though the Powell is. If you're looking for an inexpensive instrument for your kid or yourself, this is a really good deal. And the colors are pretty cool. At this price, you can afford to have a few, so as to match your clothing ensemble.

It's a real flute that works for less than 100 bucks (there's a negative, see below) and came with a bunch of great accessories. I don't think they left anything out. It works well and sounds fine. I don't think you can beat it for a beginner or for someone like me that used to fool around a bit with the flute and wanted to do that again in retirement. It works for me and I'm VERY impressed after a little over a week of playing 15-20 minutes a day. It came with a nice soft case but lives on the supplied stand and looks great standing there upright. Only one negative, there was a little bit of black stuff and some metal shavings that I cleaned out of the mouth piece part when I cleaned it with the included cleaning rag and rod. That doesn't affect playability at all and it seems to be clean on the inside now and is why I gave it 4 stars overall. Otherwise it would've gotten 5 stars.

I purchased this flute a year ago, but just now opened it and found one key is missing a pad. I’m disappointed because with that missing pad, the flute sounds awful and can’t be played properly—I’ll have to get it repaired before I can use it. That said, the flute did arrive on time.

This is an awesome flute for the price!!! Also i can easily play the lowest note, C. It was hard to get on the other more expensive flute that i was playing. I love the blue color. Definitely worth the money.
