Description

The EarlyGrow 95446 heavy duty oversized herb and seed propagator is designed for use in the germination of seeds protection of young seedlings in an environment which optimizes conditions for germination and growth. The vented lid and height extensions allow for control of humidity during germination and when closed can preserve moisture and heat improving results. The clear dome will not reduce the effectiveness of grow lights nor degrade under UV light. The lid and height extension can be used outdoors for direct sewn seeds during the early and late season protecting the seeds and young seedlings from cold or inclement weather. It is easy to add additional height extensions to permit plants to mature both indoor or outdoors in a sheltered environment. The height extensions can be easily assembled and disassembled using the provided hardware for compact storage when not in use. Non toxic, the 95446 is a friend to organic gardeners. This set includes 8 security clips, which lock the sides to the lid, allowing the user to lift off the top all in one piece. The clips make the propagator much more stable to move around.

The quality is exceptional; design/build/fit is perfect; ability to customize is a huge bonus; excellent transparency; no air leaks! This material is some heavy duty stuf … It doesn't bend AT ALL! The lid and extenders are beautifully clear, and the base is sturdy enough to hold FORTY pounds! The design is the best I’ve ever seen. The lid and extenders sit ON the lip - but the genius here is that it is designed more like an “h” than an “L” which allows all of the condensation to drip back INTO the box. All the pieces fit perfectly with no air leaks. And since there are no air leaks, I believe 100% humidity is achievable just because of how well this is designed. I simply love the ability to customize the height as your plants grow because (depending on what/how you’re growing) some simply need that kind of space. I can already tell this is going to be a game-changer for growing out my aquatic plants! I’ll be able to use this to convert my plants to their terrestrial form so I have “mother” plants all around the house for whenever I need some plants in a new aquarium. *** NOTE TO COMPANY: The *only* thing that could possibly be an improvement is to have a couple of GOOD grow-light strips mounted in/on the lid. Since I have never had a problem germinating seeds without a propagator, I don't use this unit for starting seedlings. My primary use is to root and start cuttings. In the past, I have used a couple of much smaller propagators I have and covered cuttings with plastic bags to maintain humidity. The small propagators have been fine for 4-6 cuttings that were small, but didn't work for taller cuttings. The plastic bags helped, but most often the cutting lost a lot of leaves before they rooted. For all, I do use a powder rooting hormone that very much helps faster root development. I might also mention that I have been growing and propagating a variety of plants for over 50 years. This propagator is particularly helpful in rooting cuttings from woody stemmed plants. These types of cuttings can be difficult to root since they can take 8 weeks or longer to develop roots. It is essential to keep the humidity high to help the cutting maintain the leaves until it can grow enough roots to support them and to initiate new growth. This propagator maintains a humid environment while allowing circulation of fresh air through the vents. I bought the 3-tier unit that allows for taller cuttings and for more growth before removing cuttings from the propagator. I very much like that I can add tiers if needed, and the vents in each tier can be adjusted to allow more air flow or to maintain the humidity level. I also like the tiers can be disassembled for storage. Since using this propagator, none of my cuttings have wilted before rooting, and all have rooted with 100% success. What I like about this propagator is: - The base is very thick and sturdy. It doesn't bend when fully loaded. - You can use 1, 2, or 3 tiers depending on the size of cuttings and expand for growth. - Although the screws to hold the tiers together are plastic, they work well and can be finger tightened to seal the sides together. - The adjustable vents can help to retain more humidity or adjust for more air flow as cuttings develop. - The supplied clips hold the tiers together so multiple tiers can be lifted at one time. - Prevents leaf loss of cuttings due to dehydration before roots develop. - Clear dome allows light to pass through and unit can be kept under a plant light. I use this propagator when I have a large number of cuttings, and have been completely satisfied with the versatility of this unit. It is so much easier and faster to start new herb plants from cutting than from seed. So far, I have had 100% success in propagating cuttings for green sage, pineapple sage, common thyme, lemon thyme, marjoram, a few varieties of basil, outdoor bushes, and more. The media could not be loaded. SO much better than the unwieldy storage tote I’ve been using for years. AND it LOOKS so much nicer!! So far so good! Only little thing I might add is the clips that hold the levels together. They don’t really ‘clip’ per se, if you bump them they fall off. If a small ‘lip’ were to be added to the edges with an opening where you could get the clip in so you can slide it where you want it. It wouldn’t be able to pop or slide off unless you put it back in that initial ‘introduction’ spot, that might fix this. Already thinking where I can put another! ... show more

    • A Bit Pricey But Well Worth the Money - Well Made and Easy to Assemble
Size: 2 Side Extenders with no Clip Set
I had debated about buying one of these for some time. I tried a few home grown setups using various clear plastic totes and containers with mixed results. After struggling with these setups I finally decided to get a nice unit made for the purpose. I needed one about this size (LxW) and I had not thought about one with sections to change the height, but that works out real well so I am glad I chose this model. The base is very strong so you can moved it around when loaded without it wanting to twist or bend so that is nice - not that you would move it a lot. It was real easy to assemble using the provided plastic nuts and bots and provided tool. I don't know how well they will hold up if you intend to break it down when not in use as it's made to disassemble for storage, but you could easily just replace the plastic hardware with stainless steel. The sections have a nice lip that extends down about a 1/4 in or more so each section is held firmly in place with the one below it. The top section is only an inch or so high so you can remove it easily to mist plants or add water, even if your lights are close to the cabinet. I have it on top of a heat mat too and using the provided vents am able to keep the temp around 80 degrees with no problem. It takes a little tweaking of the vents to get it right and I recommend a hygrometer to monitor the conditions inside. It was a bit pricey, but it's well made and should last a long time and it beats any homemade options I could come up with. If you're serious about starting seeds or clones, this a must have in my mind and this unit is probably one of the best you can get in my opinion. ... show more
