Rags and cloths soaked with solvents, thinners, linseed oil, combustible adhesives and other flammable liquids present a serious fire risk when improperly discarded. The specially designed lid opens no more than 60 degrees and stays closed when not in use, isolating contents from fire sources and limiting oxygen so spontaneous combustion risk is virtually eliminated. So just got this to put my rags in in my home garage to prevent fires…opened up box to read a massive sticker on the front of the can “Empty every night” and shows image of person emptying in to trash can??? What is the point of this if it is basically saying toss your flammable rags in the trash every night and do not leave in the fire suppression can? It seems like it is trying to get you to burn your house down and avoid any litigation from when their own can fails. There is no “ask a seller” option for me to ask what a person is supposed to do with the rags which is why I am posting my review. Also why even buy this product if the device is only good to store rags during the daylight hours, just reviews about people using it to store dog poop… perhaps that is all this product is good for? ... show more

Several reviews say ,"smaller than expected" and just like the old ones......well here is "one of the old ones" next to one of these. Its about the size of a 5 gallon bucket. I'd give it 5 stars except I too thought it would be a little bigger and it didnt come packed well enough and was dented in transit.....but not bad enough to make it worth the time to exchange it. It is good quality, just wish it was a touch bigger ... show more

Bought this to safely dispose of oily rags used in finishing woodworking projects in my home workshop. Pros: - Packaging was good, double boxed, arrived with no damage - Welds are solid and continuous - no gaps or slag - 6 gallon size is plenty big enough for a home-based or small commercial workshop - Paint is well done, no drips, sags or missed spots - Required warning decal is large, clear, easy to read, and reasonably straight - Opens very easily with gentle action - Closes completely, though not airtight - Carrying handle is robust, falls out of the way when not needed but easily grabbed when it is needed - Very reasonably priced compared to what a fire will do to your pocketbook and insurance premiums - Made in USA (but possibly from foreign components) Cons: - None! I actually bought this as a can to hold poop bags for my daily dog walks. I hated the idea of chucking poop bags in the trash can because if one tears open then you get gassed out by the smell. I painted this can green and brown and hid it in some bushes off my back porch. Hands free, poop bag receptacle that I empty once a week when the garbage truck comes. This is a perfect solution for dog poop. I bought small trash bags for this and it stays outside, in a rainy city. I empty it out after about two weeks, although you could go much longer. Five stars all around.
