For how cheap this eyeliner is, really decent! However, in terms of liquid eyeliners, I recently bought the Revlon ColorStay Liner. This is my comparison. Pros & Cons - Cheap. You can buy three of these for one Revlon. --- Score 1 Elf, 0 Revlon - Revlon's felt tip isn't pokey but sturdy, and it's able to get your line almost as thin as a hair. I have hooded eyes, and I like my eyeliner razor sharp. This Elf eyeliner is more like the tiniest paintbrush. --- Score 1 Revlon, 1 Elf - Lastly formula: Both were an excellent opaque black that glided on like butter. Both, when dried, stayed put through normal wear & tear, but came off easy as you please with a makeup remover. However. Elf took almost five minutes to dry, and as I have squishy hooded eyes... This lead to an epic mess my first application. The next couple of times were better, but Revlon dries in under a minute. --- Score 2 Revlon, 1 Elf. Conclusion: If you broke & dying to have a liquid liner that is worth every penny, Elf has your back. If you got $5 more, buy the Revlon.

I was looking for a liquid liner on a budget and normally love elf cosmetics, so I figured I'd give this one a try. Overall, I really like it. Mostly what I love about it is the brush - it's super perfectly shaped and easy to use. The shape is so perfect it makes the absolute most GORGEOUS wing with almost no effort, which was amazing for me because I usually have a hard time getting my liquid liner to be the shape I want it to be. The brush is also super easy to control. My only problem with this product is that the formula itself is kind of lacking. It's a really, really thinned out product, very watery, so it smears easily during application and does need some reapplication throughout the day. However, because of how much I adore the brush, I can pretty easily look past this, or sometimes I even dip this brush into other liquid liners. Overall, for this price, awesome product.

I'm surprised at some of the low ratings and complaints about this product. I have been using black liquid eyeliner for 25 yrs and have tried a ton. This is a great eyeliner. The brush is the right fullness, length, and rigidity. The black is deep and rich, and it goes on very easily and smoothly. I am not swimming in it, nor do I live in a humid climate, so I have no issues with it wearing off too quickly, but I will say that if you sleep with it on, it will be mostly worn off by morning. To me, this is an advantage, not disadvantage, because I like water-based products that go on smoothly, yet come off easily without aggressive scrubbing or tugging. I am also quite sensitive to chemicals, etc. and this product does not make my eyes run or be irritated like some others. I have zero complaints. And the price is phenomenal - kudos to e.l.f. for not inflating their prices unnecessarily. The mark-up on make-up is ridiculous. I would not waste money on trying other more expensive ones. This has everything I need.

Easy to apply. First time using liquid liner. I usually use kohl pencil liner but it's hard to get a thin precise wing with it and lately I'm loving the wing look. Dries pretty quick. I add a top layer of black shadow on top with a super thin angled eyeliner brush, so I get a matte finish. Also did this with the kohl liner. The brush is super thin so it's easy to get very close to my lash line. Lasts all day. And by all day I mean from 6am until I wash my face at 8 to 9pm. No smudges at all. No bleeding and I fading. Not sure if it's because I layer with eye shadow. Because I'm a novice with liquid liner, I didn't want to spend a lot. Glad I tried this. Not a fan of gel liners.

This is my go-to liquid liner. It's super inexpensive, goes on smoothly, and stays put all day (and has even survived me sleeping in it without cracking/smudging - I don't recommend sleeping in make-up, but sometimes it just happens!). My only complaints are the shiny finish (I sometimes top it with a black shadow to cut the shine), and the fact that it takes a bit too long to dry - I actually put my face in front of a little fan I keep in my bathroom to dry it more quickly... The tip is a brush, so if you're not careful, you can make a mess of the bristles, but I use tweezers to pull stray bristles out if I accidentally bend them out of shape. The tube lasts me several months of daily use. Recommend this liner!

I bought this because I’m new to liquid eyeliner and didn’t want to spend a lot of money to start. It’s a decent “starter” eyeliner. The wand is easy to use and I found I was able to master a pretty decent look right away. I liked knowing that I could practice a lot with this and not worry about wasting something expensive. After a pretty short time, however, the liner started to look “cracked”. It also rubs and flakes off easily. I don’t regret my purchase and will continue to use this, but I think I’ll be moving on to something higher quality next time. Definitely a good place to start and great for the price!

I've tried all kinds of pencil eyeliners, but most were either difficult to apply, or faded away after a few hours. I also have a drawer full of assorted brands of eyeliner pencils, liquids, and pens that promised easy application and staying power. I decided to try this eyeliner in black and I’m glad I did! I have no trouble applying this eyeliner, even with moisturizer on my lids, but it lasts only for hours so I have to re-apply again at least twice in a day whenever I’m out. The brush is perfect for applying just the amount close to my lash line. I finally have my perfect eyeliner! I'm not great at doing a cat eye or anything too fancy to my eyes but this liner made it so much easier. It took me 1-2 times of using it to get totally used to it. Control is the name of the game. The line I create can be as narrow or as broad as I wish, as light or as dark as I wish. I’m only giving it 3 stars coz the liner goes on nicely but disappears in just a short while.
