I actually WANTED to write this review as both my guests and I are thrilled with this replacement mattress! I have a couch that is functionally and aesthetically fine but is 29 years old! The original spring mattress was okay for its time, but over the 29 years had lost its "spring" and padding which led to feeling the cross bars more so in the couch and pretty much unable to use the sleeper pull out. We did not use this pull out for years and then with a lot of company coming, we figured we ought to try the pull out....it was NOT until recently when we thought about using this pull out again if we could find a replacement mattress for it...and with research, we came across this one! It is well described in the write up and I measured the thickness of our old spring mattress and ordered the 4 inch thick, queen size pull out replacement mattress....I was concerned that maybe it would not fold back in....but it DOES fit perfectly and actually gives the couch a more firm seating as well. The ONLY thing, and it is not major at all, is that it is harder to pull out as the mattress is heavier than the orginal...but we have two people pull it out to make it easier....one person can do it, but we just have two of us pull it out to just be easier. Our guests said they did NOT feel the bars and we also tested it out and it is a very comfortable mattress and really you don't feel the cross bars. I did order the foldable back board, but truly, you don't need it.....it might give a bit more support for a firmer feel, but you don't need it with this mattress unless you want to make double sure no one feels the bars or you want a firmer mattress feel! We could NOT be more thrilled with this purchase...we now can use our 29 year old couch which hasn't been slept on in over 10 years.....with this new mattress, it gives us a lot of opportunity to have multiple guests visit and stay!

We originally had air bed mattress for our fold out sofa in our Travel Trailer. When the air bed split and was useless we went looking of alternatives and luckily with found this very high quality 4" mattress. It worked great for our application because we can simply fold it in have and store it behind the sofa when not using it. With our type sofa cannot leave it on the sofa then fold the sofa back up. On some home sofas you might be able to to do that. People commented on odor: I did not not notice any odor with this mattress upon opening it up. I had a foam mattress topper once that required you let it air out a few days before using it. Not with this mattress. These foam mattresses are compressed by a machine to about 50% of their size and vacuum sealed in plastic when you receive it so it will fit in a smaller shipping compartment. When I removed it from the shrink wrap I put it on our bed in the trailer and let it fully expand for a couple days. No problems at all. One person complained in the reviews that it would not fit back in the original carton. Now you know why. None of them, toppers or mattresses with go back into the original carton for the reason stated above. Only word of warning for some people; this mattress is quite HEAVY. So if you constantly have to lug it around that might get tiresome. If you only need to move it occasionally, then you'll be fine. Overall very happy.

Great price and quality. Maybe a tiny bit thin but it's still very comfortable and guests liked it more than the air mattress it replaced in my sleeper sofa. That said - it does not fold when I close the sofa, so I just store it nearby and put it on the sofa when I open it for use.

I ordered this mattress to put on a sofa sleeper in my remote office, that I would occasionally be needing to spend the night in I've slept on this mattress several times, you do not feel the bar, and it is very comfortable, especially considering it's a sofa sleeper! Definitely the most comfortable sofa sleeper I've ever slept on and I am 51 years old with plenty of aches and pains Don't get me wrong it's still a sofs sleeper mattress, and it's still has to be thin, so do not try to compare this to your super fluffy Sealy Posturepedic, Serta Perfect Sleeper, Dreamcloud, Stearns and Foster, it Tempurpedic with the 4-in European pillow top. If you do, however, compare it to a typical sofa sleeper mattress you will not be disappointed! It is more comfortable than your average regular mattress though, and way more comfortable than any sofa sleeper mattress I've ever slept on

This is a blessing, my daughter came to visit and complained about the matress in the sofa bed, she said it felt like sleeping in a Chinese prison camp... Not to sure what that means but okay... So I laid down on the matress and felt every single coil and metal bar on the sofa bed and said it's time to look for a new mattress. Not many options for mattresses for a sofa bed, I saw this and decided to take a chance but was concerned about it really fitting when trying to close the bed. Also I was concerned because of the price and didn't want to waste money or go through the headache of trying to return this thing if it didn't work. However, it turned out to be a blessing, this thing is so comfortable, it closes without issues, no more feeling the metal bars, my daughter loves it, and it also makes the sofa more comfortable to sit on when it's closed. When setting up, it says leave out for 24 hours to fully expand, but from my experience with these type of mattresses it's best to leave out longer to fully expand to avoid any sagging after laying on it. I left it for three days and each day I kept checking it and by the 3rd day it was fully raised and expanded. Trust me, let it expand completely. There was no smell like others have mentioned, this mattress was more than Worth it. Don't think about it, get it! Your guests will thank you
