I actually WANTED to write this review as both my guests and I are thrilled with this replacement mattress! I have a couch that is functionally and aesthetically fine but is 29 years old! The original spring mattress was okay for its time, but over the 29 years had lost its "spring" and padding which led to feeling the cross bars more so in the couch and pretty much unable to use the sleeper pull out. We did not use this pull out for years and then with a lot of company coming, we figured we ought to try the pull out....it was NOT until recently when we thought about using this pull out again if we could find a replacement mattress for it...and with research, we came across this one! It is well described in the write up and I measured the thickness of our old spring mattress and ordered the 4 inch thick, queen size pull out replacement mattress....I was concerned that maybe it would not fold back in....but it DOES fit perfectly and actually gives the couch a more firm seating as well. The ONLY thing, and it is not major at all, is that it is harder to pull out as the mattress is heavier than the orginal...but we have two people pull it out to make it easier....one person can do it, but we just have two of us pull it out to just be easier. Our guests said they did NOT feel the bars and we also tested it out and it is a very comfortable mattress and really you don't feel the cross bars. I did order the foldable back board, but truly, you don't need it.....it might give a bit more support for a firmer feel, but you don't need it with this mattress unless you want to make double sure no one feels the bars or you want a firmer mattress feel! We could NOT be more thrilled with this purchase...we now can use our 29 year old couch which hasn't been slept on in over 10 years.....with this new mattress, it gives us a lot of opportunity to have multiple guests visit and stay!

I am always very skeptical of reviews on Amazon but I decided to try this mattress for my new sleeper sofa and I'm glad I looked into it and weighed out my options. This sofa mattress is incredibly comfortable. I sleep on a Sleep Number bed and this mattress is just as good! Looks are deceiving as it is a 4in to 4.5in mattress and kind of looks like a standard pillow top. It came coiled up in a box and it was "space packed" aka suctioned to be as flat as possible. It was easy to remove from the packaging and the plastic wrapping it came in. I laid it out for the night and it grew to its full size. People have complained about the odor but to me it smells like the plastic it came in, pretty standard for most things. I'd say that within 3 hours it was fully expanded and by 10 hours there was no more plastic odor. I am very happy with this as it is quite affordable. Some of the "top line" sleeper mattresses are at least $300-$500 and this one was half the price and of equal standard. You can't feel the sleeper base at all as the foam is very dense and even rolling around on it, it keeps a good shape. The memory foam springs back very quickly and helps relieve pressure on your butt and spine. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who is skeptical about the reviews and is looking for a comfortable and affordable option for their sleeper sofa.

I laid it on top of my old sofa bed mattress. By itself, without an old mattress below it, you would need slats. It is very comfortable. I haven't tried to fold up the sofa bed with the two mattresses but I don't need to right now. I bought a 2" memory foam mattress once and it pulled in on the sides. I had to keep pulling it out again. I think the difference is that the sofa bed memory foam mattress is 4". This one does not pull in on the sides even though I sit on it for a few hours each day and then lie on it to sleep. The delivery was goofy though. It was listed as delivered on 7/31 but I did not receive it. It was delivered on 8/1 but it is still listed as being delivered on 7/31. Weird. Also the photos, which is proof of delivery never showed the package but showed a package for another item I had ordered. Weird.

Bought this for my sofa bed. We opened it and let it inflate plump up for a week to be sure it was fully to it's full size. Our old one was the original one that came with the couch with crazy springs that dig into your back. This one is so comfy. It's a good memory foam but also supports just enough. I think it will be nice for visiting guest to use. I Would recommend this mattress.

Arrive on time and was great for the hide abed. True to description no order or flaws with the mattress. I would recommend. I really like the bed in a box. As we purchase new mattress every 5 to 6 years and have purchased expensive mattress and I have found Bed in box mattresses are of great quality and durability. if you are thinking about it, give it a go trust me you have noting to loose. As for sending a mattress back its not a lot of trouble just contact the seller and get informed. Plus UPS will do home pick-ups too.
