There are vents on the side and the vent on the roof can be closed if you prefer. I didn't notice in the product details' pictures, but the roof is in two sections. I wondered when I got the package, because it seemed too thin to contain the somewhat large roof. Upon examination of the contents, I discovered that the roof is two sections that attach/connect to create a cohesive unit. Assembly was pretty easy, requiring only a screwdriver. I suggest browsing through the directions to get a good idea of the assembly process; It's mainly common sense, but a breeze if you follow their steps. I chose not to anchor this into the ground, though. It's light enough to move from the deck to the patio (or garage). Yet, it seems pretty sturdy. I appreciate the ventilation design aspects. There is a skylight vent, plus vents on the three sides (obviously the front opening allows ventilation, too). So, there's potential air flow from all sides, including the roof venting. I didn't try cleaning it yet. But, it's constructed of plastic. I imagine that using my car foam attachement on the garden hose will do a quick cleansing, with a rinse off and air dry. It looks nice, with low maintenance. Like all real estate, your biggest concern might be location, location, location (hehe). An attractive dog house, with excellent ventilation. The media could not be loaded. The dog house was very easy to put together. It comes in about eight pieces with 10 screws. It even came with a small screw driver and a pair of white gloves. Not sure why the gloves were included. It has instructions on how to put it all together, but they are really not needed. After laying out all of the pieces, it was easy to tell how everything fit together. Once together, it is very sturdy. There is a flap at the top that you can open to allow for more air circulation. The back panel also has holes in a circular pattern towards the top to allow for circulation as well. I consider my Yorkie Pom to be a medium sized dog. He can fit in it fine. I can even fit his bed pillow in there to allow for more comfort. ... show more
