  • Easy, durable and beautiful
Style: Without Tool Color: Teak
Love the teak color, even though I'm not sure I'd call it teak. It's a really beautiful rich color. Went on easy and have had no problems with fading. Ordered more!

  • Very easy to use Very easy to use
Style: Without Tool Color: Teak
This water based stain was super easy to apply, I used a brush and then a rag to get the excess off The coverage is great but you do have to be careful to not do a double pass or that area will be darker than the rest The color is darker than what I was expected but still looks great. I finished it with some wood oil and it’s great ... show more

  • Great color Great color
Style: Without Tool Color: Dark Oak
I absolutely love this stain. There is no smell, dries very quick and leaves a beautiful color. The squeeze bottle makes it easy to work with and clean up. The only reason im giving 4 stars and please correct me if im just not seeing it on the bottle but there is no shade color anywhere on the bottle after you take it out of the box. I have bought multiple colors now and the sharpie wipes right off as im using it. Little frustrating trying to figure out the color before I do my projects. ... show more

  • Beautiful Finish – Perfect for Handmade Christmas Gifts
Style: Without Tool Color: Teak
I used the DWIL Water-Based Wood Stain – Multiple Finish for several handmade Christmas gifts this year, and it was exactly what I needed! The stain went on smoothly, dried quickly, and brought out the natural grain of the wood beautifully. The range of finish options made it easy to customize each piece for a unique look. What I loved most is that it's low-odor and easy to clean up—perfect for indoor projects during the colder months. My gifts turned out professional-looking and got so many compliments! Highly recommend for anyone doing DIY woodworking or gift projects. It’s user-friendly, eco-conscious, and gives a gorgeous, rich finish. ... show more

  • Fast-Drying, But Falls Short on Depth and Durability
Style: Without Tool Color: Rosewood
I had high hopes for this DWIL water-based wood stain, especially with its promise of quick drying and versatility for indoor and outdoor use. Unfortunately, it feels like a product that prioritizes convenience over actual performance. The biggest issue is the color payoff. Even after multiple coats, the finish looks thin and uneven, more like a tinted wash than a true stain. If you’re expecting rich, deep color that enhances the wood grain, this doesn’t quite deliver. It tends to sit on the surface rather than penetrate, which makes the final result look a bit artificial. While it does dry quickly, that speed becomes a downside during application. It’s hard to work with because it starts drying before you can properly blend, leading to streaks and patchiness—especially on larger surfaces. You have to move fast, and even then, consistency is tricky. Durability is another concern. For something marketed as suitable for outdoor furniture, it doesn’t seem to hold up well without an additional protective topcoat. On its own, it feels more like a temporary finish than something built to last through weather exposure. Overall, it might be fine for small craft projects where speed matters more than quality, but for furniture or anything you want to look polished and last, there are better options out there. ... show more

  • Finally, a true quality product.
Style: Without Tool Color: Dark Walnut
Buy this wood stain. Without any doubt it is the best I’ve ever used. I bought the dark walnut. The liquid goes on smoothly, dries quickly, and the finish is stunning. I would suggest applying the first coat with a brush, then rub it into the wood with a lint free cloth. Don’t wait, it dries quickly. Rub in the direction of the grain. Additional coats: rub only. You might find the nap of the wood rises slightly when the second coat is thoroughly dry. I sanded it, gently, with very fine sand paper to settle the nap to silky smooth. Two more coats. Let it thoroughly dry. Stunning. Remember you don’t get much in the bottle, so I’d keep this for special projects, but worth every cent of the asking price. In a world full of complete junk, how wonderful to write a review of something that is truly a quality product. ... show more

  • Not bad, but has a few drawbacks
Style: Without Tool Color: Dark Oak
I had a few issues with this product. To be fair, this was my first attempt at using a water based stain. I wanted to switch from oil based stains for ease of cleanup and lack of odor. On the good side, it is easy to clean up with soap and water, and a little goes a long way. However, even when using a grain filler and wood conditioner (both water based as well), it still came out blotchy. Also, it dries way too fast. With oil based stains, I would apply the coat, wait 5-15 minutes (depending on how dark I wanted the finish), and wipe off the excess, repeating as needed until I got the desired effect. With this, waiting two minutes to wipe off the excess was too long to wait, as it was already dry (this was on white pine btw). When I went to apply a second coat, the stain got very gummy and even more blotchy. I had to sand it off and reapply several times to get what I wanted. And yes, before anyone says anything, I did follow the instructions on the bottle (at first anyway). Lastly, the color I chose was Dark Oak, which was pictured in the ad as a darker brown. When applied, the stain looked more like cherry or mahogany with redder under tones. My advice is if you want to buy it, go ahead. Just be mindful of what I said and practice on scrap (a lot) before using it on a real project. ... show more
