A 16 oz container gives you enough paint for roughly 50 to 60 square feet with one coat, which realistic prep translates to around 25 to 30 square feet using two thin layers. That is plenty of coverage for a small-to-medium dresser, a pair of nightstands, or a entryway credenza. The included synthetic brush and foam roller grab paint way better than stiff bristle brushes or sprayers, saving you from heavy over-application or messy overspray loss. Give your surface a quick clean and degreasing ahead of time so the paint glides on smoothly without needing extra coats. I had never heard of chalk paint and initially thought this had something to do with a chalkboard. In reality it’s paint that provides a thick, matte finish with just one coat. I have two black end tables that have seen better days so I thought I would start with them. The paint went on so easily and held so well I felt like I was frosting a cake. The paint was so black and thick I felt like it was absorbing the light. Every tiny nick and mark was swallowed up by the paint brush. The finished tables look amazing! It’s as if I bought new furniture. I started looking around for something else to paint. The amount of paint you get is fairly small for the price. I would say that’s the only downside. Unlike other painting projects, here you will generally just need one coat. This is a good product. I would buy it again and recommend it to others.

I used this water based acrylic paint on a few small wood pieces (a side table and some cabinet doors). The paint goes on smoothly with a brush or foam roller. Two coats gave even coverage on most areas, with a few areas needing a third coat. The paint dries fast enough to recoat the same day. The 16 oz size covered roughly 35 sq ft with two coats. The matte finish is soft and even with minimal brush marks when applied carefully. The muted tone looks refined and modern, not chalky or overly flat, just a clean, eggshell look that works well on furniture. Once fully cured it feels durable for light-use. For higher-traffic surfaces, I would still recommend a clear topcoat for extra protection, as the manufacturer suggests. The paint cleaned up easily with water. Stir well before use. Overall, this is an affordable, attractive option for furniture when you want a true matte, muted look without a complicated process. It is not quite the level of premium chalk mineral paints, is easier to apply and less expensive when you aren’t refinishing heirlooms. I would buy it again for small projects.
