A year later and it’s held up nicely. I had a baby girl and it’s the perfect pastel color for her nursery. If we have a boy in the future it will work great for that as well! When I found out I was pregnant a kind lady gave me a gently used crib. It was originally dark brown and had some teething marks, so I decided to paint it. I wanted something I could paint with while pregnant, so decided to give this a go. I was on the fence about it since I hate the feel of chalk, but was pleasantly surprised. This was very easy to work with. I have not painted anything before. I did sand beforehand and wiped it down to remove stickers and any residue. The first pic is with one coat. It took 2-3 coats depending on how much I sanded. It takes about 30 mins to dry between coats. I did this project by myself, so if you’re doing a crib I would say put it together if you have 2 people to help. It took 2 days doing it my way, but it looked fine and I didn’t have issues with drip. I decided to seal this because the chalk paint will come off easily with a little bit of water and a rag. So I used the same brand sealer and I was not as impressed with that. For whatever reason it lifts sections of paint. So there were areas I had to go back and retouch. I was not looking for a distressed look, but if you enjoy that I would say save your sanding until the end. Otherwise it might go haywire. I was surprised I didn't read about this in any of the reviews. I have been Chalkpainting for years, and usually use Annie Sloan or Renaissance Chalk paint. However, I was doing kitchen plank wood counters and was a little apprehensive about the durability of Annie Sloan or Renaissance for high traffic counters. I have used Rustoleum products in my home, for my front door and love their paints, so I decided to try this for next day shipping and reading it is a truly true white. If you chalk paint, you know finding a "true white" can be challenging to say the least. However, I read through the reviews and noticed the constant mentions of true white, and this is what I wanted. Not many people have "white wood kitchen counters", but I saw them in my head and knew this is what I needed. The boards were already sanded and made into counters, so I had my contractor lay them down on top of the cabinets and I opted to paint right in the kitchen. Like I said, I have been chalk painting for YEARS, and knew I wouldn't make a mess. When I started to lay the paint, I noticed it was not white and had a very noticeable hint of blue, like the paint was tinted. I thought perhaps I didn't wash my brush properly last time, and grabbed another brush, but same thing! I panicked when I saw this, and grabbed a flat paint I had in my basement. I ended up using the flat white paint on one counter, just because I was in fear of the blue. . . But this paint dried completely white, and it is such an AMAZING white! I was stunned at how true this white was! I will be going over the other counter tomorrow with this paint, because it does dry white. I wonder if I was the only one who noticed this. I can't imagine I was, but was STUNNED no one mentioned this. I have been in the process of a whole entire home remodel, and I am just in love with the counters! I think they look amazing! I will not be using wax, as I will do several coats of water-based poly with a light sanding in between coats. They really do look amazing! I didn't think this would hold a candle to Annie Sloan or Renaissance, but I am happy to report it does. I am just in love with this chalk paint! Island isn't done yet, and it will be plank wood but stained, to match the shelves, but the counters look amazing! ... show more

PRODUCT: 4 Stars SHIPPING: 0.0001 Stars and ONLY Because Shipping Thought to Box the Can So, I love this paint. It's not as good a product as Dixie Belle or, obviously, Annie Sloan, but the price is much better. I find that the tannins in wood tend to bleed through if you don't prime woods like pine (in particular) with the lighter colors (this blue, white, linen, etc.). But I don't mind the extra priming step. The paint is easy to distress, but I'm not sure about durability for that very reason. I've had some edge wear on earlier projects, but I'm trying a new topcoat to prevent that. The paint takes waxing or poly coating well. If you don't use a good (and I mean GOOD) brush, you're going to have drag lines in the finish. It just is what it is. This paint won't do any type of concealing for a mediocre paint job. But hit it with a super fine grit sand paper and dust it well before you finish coat it, and it looks great. Now, shipping. HOLY COW PILES, AMAZON! What were you THINKING? The box arrived in perfect condition but I was worried the minute I picked it up from the mailbox. The can was rolling around in the box. I crossed my fingers, opened the box and found a can that looked like it had been through riots and rampages then shipped through the apocalyptical postal service. One of the four metal tabs on the can had been knocked loose, paint was leaking out of the compromised seal, the can sides had SERIOUS body damage and the bottom of the can has an outward V-shaped crease like it was struck from inside with a wide chisel or King Kong tried to use this thing for a coffee cup and squeezed too hard. I'm disappointed Amazon would ship a product in this condition. No way was it THAT damaged in shipping if the box was fine. The box freaking would NOT have survived this type of abuse. So the product came from Amazon this way. THIS is what my Prime membership pays for? Really? For that, I'll just go to my local paint store and buy local. It's faster, doesn't cost me $99 a year and I know they aren't going to sell me a can I have to then find a replacement for. Seriously. The seal was so compromised, the paint leaking out, that I had to buy an empty paint can to store the paint in. Had I not, the paint would've dried out worse than the skim layer I took off the top after opening. BOTTOM LINE: This is a good product, much cheaper than alternatives but you do get what you pay for here. Think twice about ordering it from Amazon unless you have a spare paint can and a lot less give a flip than I do. (Side note: Rustoleum carries a spray-can matte finish for use with chalk paint. EXCELLENT product if you need a quick-seal finish!) ... show more
