  • Most Unhappy Customer
Style: 15,000-Watt Dual Fuel
I purchased this generator in January '26. From the date I purchased it the idle control switch on the generator did not work. I have been in contact with the customer service representative since January. I was asked to send pictures and videos of the problem. I did so. Still not fixed. I have sent email after email for the last 5 months and still not fixed. They sent a replacement part that I had to install and it still is not fixed, it's actually worse because now the light on the idle control switch does not work. Still wondering if they honor the warranty, so far I don't think so. Wondering if they are just leading us on and hoping that we will go away and not pursue the fix for my generator. So buyer beware ... show more

  • DuroMax XP15000HX Things to Know
Style: 15,000-Watt Dual Fuel
Operates properly. Has good load carrying capability. I can't run my AC unit but it covers the rest of the house. I've got about 10 hours on the unit on a 40 lb propane bottle that is over half used. The unit requires an 6-8 hour break-in (below 50% load) and specifies not to use synthetic oil. I have only given it 4 stars just because of the weight. I've permanently mounted my unit on a small trailer (because the included wheels on an unimproved surface are tricky). Oil capacity is specified in ounces (57.5 oz) so you will convert to 1.79 quarts (because oil is sold in quarts). DuroMax recommends 10W-30 but allows for different viscosities depending on your temperature. The unit comes with 3 different wire plug ends so you can modify cables if necessary. Since I have an 50AMP RV box at my place, I made a cord with two male ends and just energize my place by turning off power to the pole and plugging it into the RV receptacle (so no switch installed). If you follow their instructions, it looks like the remote is virtually worthless as you have to reset the breakers on the unit (physically) and plug/unplug with every start/stop. Start button on same side as breakers/plugs so I’m not sure the purpose of the included remote. The 388 lbs unit comes on a pallet which also serves as a platform to install the wheels and feet. So don’t take it off the pallet too early. The unit instructions specify it needs to be grounded with a grounding rod unless you are connecting it to an already grounded structure. The unit comes configured for use below 3000 ft (sea level) and states it will run rich, burn extra fuel and foul plugs if not adjusted and run over 3000 ft ASL It states a “dealer” must make the adjustment and then again if you return the unit below 3000 ft or damage will occur (lean). (HP will reduce with altitude as in all combustion engines.) Oil fill is hard to get to (high enough to be behind a structure panel). A funnel is included for this purpose. I was not able to locate runtime/fuel burn anywhere online. The specification states 12 hours on gasoline (13.2 gal) at 50% load and 8.5 hours on propane at 50% load (approx 45 AMPS) on a 60 lb. bottle. For propane it recommends a minimum of a 60 lb. bottle at a minimum of 3 PSI. You may run into a frozen regulator in cold temps with smaller bottles so beware. I plan to run a short run of heat tape to overcome this. The assembly instructions on my unit are wrong (per DuroMax tech support). There is not a red shipping bracket on the model I purchased. Instead it is now bolted to a makeshift pallet. (So thanks DuroMax for making me hoist the 388 lb unit looking for the mysterious red shipping bracket.) Per tech support, oil filter for my unit PN is 15220-Z120210-00A0. There is an aftermarket alternative they say K&N brand, PN HP-1003 but they warn it has a "wrench cap" which may cause clearance issues. (It does not on my unit, fits fine.) You might make note if you haven't had a generator before, it warns not to run the unit exposed to rain or snow (the elements that actually cause the need for such a device in many cases) so plan accordingly. ... show more
