First of all, I live in Texas where we never thought we would be buying generators like bags of potato chips! Freezemageddon came in February 2021 and we found out just how fragile the power grid here may be. Who knows if there will be another polar vortex like this but we also have hurricanes along the coast and a host of what may come we don't know type of concerns. I did a lot of online review shopping before I settled on this generator. I have a 3,500 sqft house with two 3 ton HVAC and one 2 on HVAC units. The Duromax XP15000EH is the largest dual fuel portable they make. It's more expensive than the next smaller unit because of the engine. Lower units have a splash oil system and are single piston. This unit is dual piston and has an oil pump/cooler and filter. I'll let the reader research any further technical specs. I bought the generator on Amazon (in stock) and it arrived the other day in an 18 wheeler. As you can see from the photos I added, right out of the gate I added a pigtail to the battery and plugged in the "CTEK 40-206 MXS 5.0 Fully Automatic 4.3 amp Battery Charger and Maintainer 12V" All my motorcycles are on this charger and the generator will live on one too. Got it on Amazon. The next photo is an oil change valve. It is the EZ-106 with Hose End Combo (includes a 3/8 clear drain hose). The overall product is available on Amazon but this particular model number I had to go to the company website to find. On the Duromax XP15000EH the drain plug hole is 14mm and the EZ-113 drain valve fits that. You probably know the generator does not ship with oil, so I went out and bought two quarts of Castrol 10W-30. The engine takes 1.6 liters of that which is about 1.7 quarts. I just used a plastic throw away measuring cup and added 400ml of oil 4 times. The shipping box includes a funnel. I just got in from the generators first test run on propane. I simply used a half full bbq grill sized bottle and hooked up the supplied hose. No gas teflon tape needed (I called Duromax) and there is no regulator purge button anymore on the propane regulators that are built in to the frame. There is an instruction card on the handle that I followed (start with choke on then quickly off). I turned the key and it fired up like an Indy race car. I'll give it a total one hour run in and then change the oil. I to turn the generator off I first tuned the valve off on the propane, then turned the generator key to off. My local electric company comes tomorrow to put in a transfer panel, then I'll spend a few days deciding on what sized propane tank(s) I want to keep on hand. I bought a 30 foot 50 amp coord on Amazon and that's going to be my main connection to the house. Whether gasoline or propane, if you shut off the fuel supply and let the generator burn out what is in the lines you're way, WAY ahead of people who do the opposite. Keep the battery on a tender and change the oil like a maniac (I go way overboard on oil/filter changes for a reason), and I see no reason why a generator like this won't last a long time.

I had the 12k watt version of this and upgraded it to the 15k. I’m thoroughly impressed - easily runs the entire house, including a 4 ton air conditioner, pool pump, two refrigerators, water heater, and all the lights with no flickering or issues. As far as value goes, it’s a fraction of the price you would pay for a generac or similar home backup. I’m also very glad this came with better wheels than the 12k version - this one is much easier to maneuver. I keep mine in the garage, and the generator hook up is in the back opposite corner of the house. Given the weight of these I always hated moving the 12k watt version because the tires were not great - this one has harder tires and rolls easily. I live in Florida and highly recommend these generators if you need to have a whole home solution to the outages like we do when hurricanes hit. I ran it for six hours during the last storm, and it only used about half a tank of gas running everything. We took showers, ran the pool pump etc just to break it in and see what kind of time frame we would get out of a tank. Due to pets we need it to run while we work. I originally planned on using propane until I researched it. You can’t really rely on smaller tanks for this because the propane tanks lose pressure - you need a larger tank at least 60 pounds but preferably larger than that and the weight of those just makes them seem impractical to me to fill on my own (100 lb tank weighs 175 lbs full) - during stormy season I keep four 5 gallon tanks of gas with some fuel stabilizer so there’s enough standing by to keep things going for a couple days

I am having this connected to my electrical panel. Electricians were out yesterday to assemble and connect. I could never have gotten it to start. I watched them having to make adjustments, etc. to get it running. It is running great. They did a tutorial for me and it looks like I can handle it. The step by step instructions are actually right on the end of the generator making it easy to follow. PRO: Could run my whole house including AC CON: It is very loud It is large It is heavy - 380 lbs The box was damaged when the delivery driver arrived at my house. He said it was damaged when Amazon handed it off and they recorded the damage (and hopefully reported it). I took pictures and he did again and documented the damage before he left. Luckily, the generator was not damaged. I paid the little extra to have them put it in my garage. I would not have needed to spend that money. The driver would have delivered it there anyways. The option to have the drivers put it together and get it running seems unrealistic. The company that delivered mine had only the driver on the truck. He about gave me heart failure watching him getting it off the truck and up my driveway. I thought the generator was going to fall off the palette and crash. He was very nice but definitely not someone who would be assembling anything. I plan on calling Duromax to see what options are available for muffling the noise and for a cover that is ventilated and goes to the ground to avoid packrats getting into the wiring.

Duramax XP15000EH generator purchased in July 2024. During initial use during Hurricane Debby on August 5, 2024, generator ran for fewer than 8 hours due to oil leak under the bottom of the motor and crank shaft. Communicated with Amazon and Duramax about problem. Finally, for warranty work Duramax offered for me to ship to California or carry it to repair shop 2 hours away. Neither offered an easy or quick solution. Had to hire someone to carry it to repair shop, and repair shop kept it for 4 months due to difficulty getting parts and wait-time behind numerous other Duramax generators requiring repair. Finally, it was ready for pickup 1/7/25. At home discovered no oil in generator and dead battery; unhappy with repair shop. Finally, readied and cranked it, but it ran for only a few minutes and stopped. I thought it may need to be connected to power box for some check requirement, so thought nothing of it at the time and completed set up for future use. Required generator on 2/1/25. When cranked, it ran less than 3 minutes and stopped, and did this numerous times. Phone call and delivery back to same overworked Duramax repair shop. Face-to-face with shop foreman who said Duramax generators are the worst and showed me a backlot full of blue Duramax generators! He reported having to wait for months for parts, then sighed and commented, “Well, as long as I keep getting warranty and repair work for them (Duramax).” I have No idea when or if generator will ever work.

I wanted a Generator that has a dependable 50 amp output, so I shopped and shopped... I wanted a Gen that's NOT made in China and preferably made in the U.S.A. All I could find was Generac. They are two or three times the cost... I wanted the Gen for emergency power conditions... I already have two other older 30 amp capable Gens and they _can_ run the emergency stuff. But I wanted growing room. I almost sprang for the 13k HXT. There's one local still new in the box for 1250.00... So instead I dropped the additional $$ for the 15k EH, not sure that was/is wise especially since finding the Westinghouse 13k tri fuel which has more features and accessories than the Duromax 13k tri fuel... and costs less (It's made in Vietnam... I'm ok with that.) Anyhoo... --This thing is HEAVY! and it's tall, it won't fit under my 36" high garage bench without modification of the 2x4 support rails under the bench. --Surprisingly, the wheels are PLASTIC. Both the rims and the tires. But since it's NOT a jobsite Gen, it's probably a non issue. Tubed rubber tires on metal rims would be better IMO. --I wished the handles were joined in a u shape like other Gen models, but again, this ain't gonna be a tote around Gen... --I've read complaints about the battery configuration. The battery is shipped backwards, the terminals on the interior side of the Gen. Just flip it around so the terminals face out! The terminal wires are long enough on purpose to reach the appropriate terminal lugs when the battery is spun around with lugs facing out. The battery retainer bar is notched on one end so it slides under a screw head, the other is just a hole. I heard people complain about this also... so just flip the thing around so the notched end is on the side behind the wheel... --I heard complaints about the 50 amp port being above the wheel and people having problems connecting 50 amp cables. I guess this could be an issue if you have particular cables... I dunno. I have one that is a right angle with finger holds and it connects without a problem and the cable hangs down between the tire and frame fine (see pic). --There's no idle control and at first this bugged me. But I realized this isn't a jobsite Gen where power usage is not constant. Using this to run a house back-up setup means idle control would be meaningless anyways (I have a 6000 and an 8000 watt generator(s) for jobsite usage and they have idle control). -- Being a big v-twin engine, it's gonna burn more fuel than the single piston models. I would have preferred a longer run time, but that would mean a larger gasoline tank... for an already heavy TANK!. Propane bottles are ubiquitous. Having several is just a smart thing to do. Buy a used one for $10 (or get it for free), take it to Wally world or Lowe's or TSC etc and use it for the trade in priced filled bottles. (Be sure to check the stamped dates on the bottles you get and get newer ones from the lot incase you need get them refilled elsewhere... there's a 10-12 year refill limit on bottles). -- There's no assembly instructions AT ALL, so if you're not mechanically inclined, you're gonna be a lil frustrated. But it's only the wheels and lift bar at the top that needs to be installed. The battery needs connecting as well, and this is where you need to take advice from others and flip it around so you can connect a maintainer/charger. Which is another issue... this thing should have come with a battery charger and charging while running feature like other models have. But again, for me it's an emergency use Gen. I might not run it for months. So having a battery maintainer is just gonna have to happen. (The Westinghouse 13k dual and Tri fuel come with battery chargers as well as battery charging while running). This thing started right up on propane after assembly. I only ran it for 10 minutes, and it ran nice. I did take the advice of others here and installed an oil drain valve with the drain hose adapter. It's just smart to do. Edit 9/15/23 I wanted to set up this generator for a house backup. I also wanted to run it from my detached garage. I set up a 50amp connection to my garage sub panel and set up a disconnect in the house to another sub panel that my garage and emergency circuits are in. I can disconnect the main panel from the sub panel when the power goes out and back feed the sub panel with the Generator. But I wanted to exhaust the Gen to the outside so I shopped Amazon for products I could employ for this purpose. All the things you see in the pictures are purchased from Amazon. I used an 1 1/4 ID flex exhaust and a 1 3/4 flex exhaust section, putting the smaller in to the larger for a double walled exhaust. I used exhaust fittings and clamps to connect them. I also purchased a 3" stainless wall cap with louvers and a screen for the outside of the garage. The 1 1/4 fits VERY snugly over the exhaust port on the Generator and needs no clamping or screws to retain it. Using red high temp silicone, I sealed the connections all together, inside and out. It all works very well and all the exhaust is ported outside the garage.

This Generator is absolutely fantastic! After doing some research on numerous large, portable generators, I ended up going with the DuroMax XP15000EH (read great reviews from multiple sources). I'm definitely happy with my decision! I was pleasantly surprised with the exceptional quality, robustness, and support offered by DuroMax. I was able to get this on sale (w/ a $300 coupon) for $2600. IMO, it was worth every penny. The generator runs flawlessly on both gas & propane. It also appears to run slightly quieter and more efficient than my friends Westinghouse 15000. I definitely would recommend this product to anyone living with harsh winters or brutal summers, especially in rural areas.

I bought this generator late last year. Since then, I have used it a couple times during many of Texas' short power outages (a few hours); However, during the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, I was without power for just over 7 days. This generator ran 12 - 14 hours a day and provided enough electricity that I was able to run my whole house without issue (including a 3 ton AC!). While the fuel consumption was a bit much (I used ~15 gal of gas a day), the alternative would have been worse. The only reason I didn't run the generator 24/7 is due to the fact I didn't want to keep my neighbors up at night (to be fair, it is a bit loud), and I didn't want to worry about having to keep an eye on it or it getting stolen. I have since bought a battery backup to run the lights and TV at night. I used this generator to run the house and charge the batteries during the day (9AM - 10 PM), and the batteries to run the house (minus AC) at night (10PM - 9AM).

It's a beast! I knew that going in. I also knew it would be louder than a standard inverter generator, but the idle is quite high when under no and little load. -1 star because there was no setup guide included. Had to guess on assembly even though it was simple, there should be a 1st time unbox guide. -1 star because you can not use common 50A cables without removing the rear wheel. This is downright ridiculous and DuroMax for shame on you for failing to test this fully. Most of your other generators have more distance between the plugs and the rear wheel. -1 star for the HIGH noise level and High idle level. -0 stars for installing the battery bar backward. If the end user does not remove and flip the battery bar once fully assembled you will need to remove the back wheel next time to service the battery. Flip this bar when you are connecting the battery. This note should have been in a 1st setup/unboxing instruction guide that was not included. Not the bolts for the battery are 9mm so they have a mix of bolt sizes. This would have been beter if all were 10mm. +1 star for the mobility. The handles help greatly in getting this beast moved around. I can see where this would be exceptionally nice on the worksite. +1 star for the lift bar included and not an optional package. I picked it up with a chain connected to my tractor bucket and this made unexpectedly it easy to get off the truck when delivered because they did not have a dolly and their lift gate was broken. It also made it easy to assemble the wheels and connect the battery. +1 star for all the bolts being tightened to near welding strength. +1 star because I like it. It appears dependable but only time will tell. +1 star for the controlls for being all on one side and easily accessable. +1 for all the connections being industry standard. NOTES: This is NOT bonded. The electrical diagram shows it is bonded. It is not bonded. The GAS fule on-off valve can push in through the hole. If this happens, use some super glue, just a small dot in case you need to remove it later on the side and it will stick a little better and not bump out. The on-dash meeter does not show the current draw when running. Either invest in a smart meter like emporia for the home or office circuit box or use your current meeter clamp. I have only tested it for 1 hour as I only intend to use this for a whole house emergency generator when power is out. I hope DuraMax can provide a solution to the 50A cable issue so I do not need to remove the wheel every time I want to use this as it does not sit level. Any construction worker would hate life if they did not have a straight plug for this. DuraMax can make this right by including a short 20" straight jumper cable for existing owners and move the 50A plug up 3 inches (7.62cm) which would provide enough clearance to not place your cable in a sketch tight bend. If you look they have a special custom-built cable to make this work. It is not a factory cable but a replacement or built end. There was no oil inlcuded in the box. You will need 10w-30 to fill this for first run. I also suggest upgrading the LPG cable to a braided one especially if your in construction. They do not make a cover that fits this yet.
