I only have dumbbells at home. I rarely miss having a barbell with the exception of a few exercises, and the Pivot Bar works great for the few times I prefer to use a barbell. I really appreciate how compact the Pivot Bar is since I have very limited space. In use, the dumbbells will swing a bit, but you get used to it. I now find it satisfying to try to keep my movement as controlled and steady as possible. That keeps the swinging sensation to a minimum. I was really hoping to use the Pivot Bar for hip thrusts, and with a small adaptation, it works great. (see pic) I bought a pair of small furniture movers so I could place the Pivot Bar and dumbbells on top. Then I can sit down in front of my bench and roll the whole unit into the correct position for the hip thrust. The Pivot Bar maxes out at 216.5lbs. (100lb dumbbell on each side plus the weight of the bar.) That's not a lot of weight for a hip thrust, but you can still get a good workout by increasing the reps. My only small complaint is that the hooks that hold the dumbbells are bare metal. I've been putting a washcloth over the hooks to protect the Pivot Bar hooks as well as the knurling on my dumbbells. Eventually, I'll probably wrap the hooks with grip tape.

I rarely write reviews but I had to for this product. I needed a barbell that I can use with my dumbbells. This was the ONLY one I could find that was compatible with my neoprene dumbbells. I was a little skeptical about the open handles and the balancing, but I love it! The open handles are so wide it can fit all handle widths. Saves me so much space not needing to get plates! My workouts are on a whole other level now! I will recommended this to anyone!

This is exactly what I was looking for to use with my new adjustable dumbbells. It is the only one I have been able to find that is compatible with my dumbbells. I was initially concerned that the open hook handles might make balancing difficult, but the dumbbells stay securely in place—this works perfectly! It’s well built and sturdier than I expected, not flimsy at all. The only thing I wish it had is a bar pad, as it can be a bit uncomfortable during hip thrusts. I added my own pad, and now it’s great!

The media could not be loaded. Exactly what I was looking for in our small home gym. We have adjustable dumbbells and I wanted a barbell to use but did not want to have to store a large set. I also wanted to be able to easily change the weights for my workout as needed without the annoyance of a clamp to keep the weights locked down. This does exactly that! The weight of the bar is very sturdy and high quality, I would recommend using gloves with it though as it can tear up sensitive hands with the grid grip. The item seems really well balanced and I believe that unless you are throwing it around, the weights will stay in place. I just need a way to rack it, or need a spotter for any over the neck squat exercises. I am looking forwards to using this new addition to our workout space! I have already recommended to several friends and family members.

It is study and easy to use. It is versatile where I can put dumbbells of different weights quickly in and out. I appreciate too that it is all metal. I've only used it once so far, but I look forward to many more times. The mechanism where it balances the weights make it feel like a very natural motion for deadlifts. The knurled bar makes it feel very comfortable as well. The bar did feel slightly oily, but that's just residual from manufacturing I suspect. Also, I felt around the hooks, and it has smooth edges.
