The simple, clever door locking design on this cage makes it escape proof. Whatever you trap will stay trapped until you're ready to open the door. I tried using a smaller trap (30x12x12) but the raccoon I was after was too big to allow the door to latch properly. It just dined on the bait and then backed out. The dimensions of this cage made me think it was a too big for catching my unwanted little attic guest. But in the end it was just right. Don't let the pictures fool you - that raccoon is bigger than you think. Ended up taking it waaay down the road and letting it out. I would definitely recommend this trap for whatever you're trying to catch. ... show more

These are very well made and sturdy....the dollar value is definitely there. My problem is that I have not caught a single Coyote. I live in the country and there are quite a few around....I have to listen to them in my woods every night. The trap does work and with the locking mechanism it has nothing is going to get out. So far i have caught 1 opossum and 3 SKUNKS. Trust me it is not fun getting the skunks out. ... show more

This is a good trap for someone who is getting into trapping . I recently got into trapping and bought some cheaper much less heavy duty traps , specifically havahart. The Havaharts work to the extent of catching thag pesky rabbit who keeps chomping at your garden, but if u want a trap to catch a bobcat or even to keep a behemoth coon in the trap your gonna wanna go with a Duke. Advertised for coyote, but is too small for that. Coyote are able to back out of it because the door cant drop all the way.

it worked fine withstood a raccoon being caged up for 6 hours with no damage to the cage, i had to make two hooks on a piece of cable to pull the locking rings up, so i wouldnt get bit, but it worked as advertised !!

Thank you please get bigger traps like this. Always cutting my arms when we need to put bait in back of trap. The metal is jagged and cuts your arms up.

Functions and works just fine. Now if they were to develope a trap that automatically ejects opossums I'd really be happy.
