This isn't the best sponge for every dish, but for plates and coffee mugs it definitely speeds things up. With these sponges you're getting 2x the surface area of a regular yellow/green sponge, but it's not a true 2x in usefulness. The pad is really only 2x on the scouring/abrasive side, not the softer yellow pad. If you can get these for a good value they are worth it, but understand it's not perfect by any means. After using this for a week it's definitely a useful product, but the softer yellow pad is shallower than a store-brand equivalent meaning it's not holding onto as much soap. While the double sided action is nice for going around the edges of plates and down into thicker mugs/glasses it isn't long enough to cover the diameter of anything wide than a saucer. Once you have to use it like a normal sponge it is slightly awkward to hold as you need to compensate for the gap in the middle, not the worst thing but just mildly annoying. We found it best to pair this with a traditional sponge, using this where it made the most sense and falling back to a traditional one when needed.

I’ve tried a lot of dish sponges and scrubbers over the years, and the Dish Buddie Dual Cleaning Kitchen Dish Sponge is easily one of the most practical and genuinely “why didn’t I buy this sooner?” upgrades I’ve found. The design isn’t just a gimmick—it actually makes dishwashing faster, easier on your hands, and more effective, especially for items like glasses, utensils, and even knives. Cleans faster because it washes both sides at once The biggest advantage is that it cleans both sides of a dish simultaneously. Instead of scrubbing one side, flipping, and scrubbing again, you can get a thorough clean in one motion. This is especially noticeable with plates, bowls, lids, and anything with a slight curve. It cuts down on time and repetitive motion, which makes a big difference if you’re doing dishes daily or washing a lot at once. Easy-grip shape that’s comfortable and secure The grip is excellent. The shape is easy to hold and control, even with wet or soapy hands. It feels more natural than a flat sponge, and you don’t have to squeeze hard to get good contact. If you’ve ever dealt with sponges slipping around or cramping your hand while washing a large load of dishes, this solves that problem. Non-scratch, but still effective I’m very careful with nonstick pans and nicer glassware, and these have been safe to use. They’re non-scratch, but they still clean effectively—especially when paired with a good dish soap. They remove grease and residue without feeling abrasive. They also rinse out easily and don’t feel like they immediately fall apart after a few uses. Overall If you want something that actually makes dishwashing quicker and more comfortable, these are absolutely worth it. The media could not be loaded. I was intrigued to try the Dish Buddie sponges and was hoping they might make washing dishes easier. While these *are* useful for washing cutlery, they are pretty much a regular sponge when used on crockery/plates/highball glasses/etc. The U shape of the sponges is most helpful as long as you have something that will fit inside it. Every other situation it is a regular sponge and I'm really curious how long it will actually last before it splits down the U and turns into 2 smaller sponges. These sponges are indeed a non scratch type of material - I tried a sponge out on an older non stick pan (in case it scratched) and it did not damage the pan. So far, the sponge I am using also does not stink. I have been using it for a little over a week. The foamy stuff the sponge is made from seems less dense than regular sponges and dries out more quickly. To me, the U shape of this sponge does not justify paying more than double what I pay for other sponges. I can just fold over a regular sponge and achieve the same cleaning effect with flatware (flatware is truly the only place where the unusual shape of these sponges really makes a difference). *U* have to decide if the U is worth it to you.

These dual cleaning sponges are a clever concept and do work as intended. Being able to wash both sides of a dish at once does save some time, and the shape makes them comfortable to hold. My mother-in-law has arthritis and found these easier to handle than regular sponges, which is great. That said, if you don’t have hand pain or grip issues, they don’t feel particularly necessary, and the price is harder to justify compared to standard sponges. All in all, it’s a smart and helpful tool for anyone with hand or joint discomfort, but probably not worth the extra cost for everyone else.
