  • The most useful thing you have never used
Size: 2 LBS
This the absolutely most useful random Amazon purchase I have ever made. Everyone should have these!. Once you have these you can't think of all the ways you can use them. I put them in a zip-lock bag with my small pill box for travel to keep my meds from getting wet and expiring in my backpack. I also put a bunch into a small container with a lid that I use to dry thing out. You just place the item to be dried on a coffee filter and lay that on top of the beads, shut the lid and wait a day. I dried squash seeds for next year, a wet carbide drill bit, my pocket knife, moist garlic from the grocery store, and other things in the beads (not at the same time). And when they turn green, just pour them into a cake pan, and bake at 250-300 degrees for a couple hours. I would suggest letting the beads pre-heat inside the oven to keep them from heat shocked and popping. Also tried using the microwave to dry them, and that is a BAD idea. The microwave boils the water very quickly inside the beads and makes them explode into tiny sharp pieces all over your microwave. ... show more

  • I use it for 3D printer filament.
Size: 2 LBS
So far it has helped keep things dry and it can be “recharged” easily also. A bit of a smell using the microwave method to recharge. Picture shows used green desiccant in a container and my hand has some yellow that has been recharged.

  • 1 Quart orange premium desiccant
Size: 2 LBS
I'm using this in my 24 gun safe to keep the humidity down has been working well has brought the level from 55 to 43 percent humidity. I had to recharge the beads after a couple days. This should slow down after the humidity stabilizes in the safe. If your going to buy the beads you'll need a container to put them in first I used a mason jar with the lid removed and just the ring to hold a piece of screen wire over the mouth of the jar. The top of the beads turned green but seemed like the deeper beads were not changing color and the humidity was not really dropping much. You really need to have as much of the beads as you can exposed to the air. So I came up with an idea and cut the feet out of my wifes old panty hose sheer type I poured the beads in them and tied the open end off with twine so that I can remove the string and dump the beads out when they need re charged. This allows me to see the beads when they change color and exposes more of the beads to the air which has quickly brought the humidity level down vs the jar. I have re charged the beads only once so far but didn't need to bake them for the 2 or 3 hrs like some had said mine dried out and changed to orange again after only an hour on speed bake in the oven at 225. These work great so far no complaints has brought the humidity in my safe down in only a day or two after placing them in the panty hose. I don't recommend leaving them in the hose if your going to bake the beads. You may come up with a better idea but what ever you do it seems critical to have as much of the beads exposed to the air as possible at one time vs all of them in a jar with the top open. I really have no complaints they work well the hardest part is just coming up with some thing to place the beads in that allows enough contact with the air. ... show more

  • Easy to tell when it's time to reactivate, easy to reactivate and reuse
Size: 2 LBS
I chose this product over others for the color-changing indicator. Other products I viewed required weighing the product to determine the level of moisture absorption, or weren't easy to reactivate. Calcium chloride tablets, which I tried before, require constant repurchasing and you have to deal with the gross liquid that remains and smells like chemicals. With these silica gel beads, I put about a third of the container in a Toule fabric pouch I made (knee high stockings work just as well!) and let it do it's thing. My digital hygrometer shows a drop in relative humidity (varies based on the weather outside as well, but ranges from 20% to 30% of what it was before placing the new or refreshed beads) in my garden shed. When I check the beads a week later they are green (after two weeks they turn a beautiful emerald green). All I do to reactivate is to place the beads on a baking sheet in my toaster oven using the DEHYDRATE setting. The deeper the green the longer you have to run it , but usually an hour to an hour and a half will do. No smells, no waste, no guessing when it's time to refresh. Great purchase! ... show more

  • Great for humidity control, but they bounce!
Size: 7.5 LBS
First purchased March 2020. Have used these beads for 18 months now to control humidity and eliminate mildew in our vacation home in Mexico, whenever we are not there. These beads have worked very well for us. We fill little drawstring organza bags (available on Amazon) with the beads and leave a couple bags in bathroom cabinets, in closets, shoe boxes, and other closed storage places. We have recharged the beads on quarter sheet pans in the oven as instructed and so far they seem to keep working. As several people have mentioned, be careful pouring or transferring the bead into containers. They bounce all over the place and you will be finding stray beads for days. ... show more

  • Great for a Keezer
Size: 7.5 LBS
A Keezer is a chest freezer set up for beer kegs or other similar things. As many beer aficionados probably know, Keezers often tend to ice up or end up with puddles of water in the bottom, which may cause rust or other problems. Keeping the humidity low inside helps to eliminate these issues. I poured the bottle of beads into a large nylon hops bag (fine mesh food straining bag) and keep it in the Keezer. It’s been running for about 7 months now, and everything is dry, clean, and looking great. No more problems with ice, rust, mold, and other things. And after 7 months, the beads are still orange, so they still have a long life ahead ! ... show more

  • Works great and easy to recharge
Size: 2 LBS
I use this in both my gun safe and electronics carry cases keeps humidity below 50% (lower if u want but will need recharged more often) the mistake i made at first was using mesh bags to hold beads to increase airflow but that just causes humidity to go to low and beads need recharged in days, instead i use small tupperware circles with small holes in lids and only need to recharge once a month if that and get perfect 50% ... show more
