I was dubious about one thing in the house and this test showed up negative. Although I wasn't sure at first because I hadn't cleaned it well enough and dirt can look sort of purplish maybe. Anyway. I cleaned it better and it was negative. Of course I would have to buy other tests from other brands or find something I know has lead in it to test its accuracy. Right now I just have to take it on faith.

Not sure how I can know for sure if it is accurate, but it definitely did relieve my worries that there is no lead in the paint on wood I used for chicken coop. It seemed old, found it in a shed when we moved in and the way the paint was crackling off made me worried- even knowing it's rare to find lead in paint anywhere today. This gave me peace of mind that there was no lead in the paint near our animals.

It says to wet and wait until mustard yellow, but they are mustard yellow already before you even wet them? tested several things in question but no change in color so I was doubtful but then used in on a piece of lead pipe and it changed immediately, so maybe the things I was concerned about actually dont have a high enough lead content

The swabs do work but only if you use 2 to 3 drops of water. Dipping the swab into water and shaking the excess off just releases yellow over everything. With just the drops water you will get a change of color on the tip of the swab (if there is a change of color). Very hard to see but if there is lead in your dishes the color does change.

I was very concerned about my old crockpot so I got these strips. (Negative results on the crockpot!) I found it so enjoyable, I started testing other things in the kitchen and it was very easy to do so. There are plenty of swabs and I'm glad I did, since an old piece of my mom's had lead.

I have a 9 month old and live in Illinois, one of the states with the highest risks of lead poisoning. I found little to nothing on the paint but when testing the water I was ALARMED of how severely defective the old filter in my fridge was. I immediately changed filters and saw results almost immediately after. Not even a bullet compares to how bad the old filtered water was. If water if resulting in red, TRUST THE RESULTS! Great product, worth buying.
