I am a fine are painter who likes the dry-brush technique. I used it pretty extensively when I was focused on watercolor painting but continue to take advantage, although not as often, with my acrylic work. I didn't know there were brushes especially for dry brush painting - maybe I'm confusing two different approaches - but these are unique brushes that I find useful even if it is an "off-label" application. The brushes are round, relatively broad (in each size), with relatively short bristles. I use short-bristled round brushes quite a lot but I use them because the bristles are stiff and I can get a nice dotted-effect using a poking motion on the canvas. These brush bristles are surprisingly soft. This gives me another tool in my painting toolbox and that is never a bad thing.

I use dry brushes all the time, but usually as detail brushes. Once I've completed a build and polished it, I'm inevitably left with polish residue which can basically be found in all the crevices of my car. A little water and these brushes and I can immediately wipe/brush all of it off. Invaluable tool for the hobby!

Bottom line, five brushes for this price is pretty darn good. I do a lot of miniature painting, including comission work. A nice soft drybrush can make a big difference in the amount of texture you impart. I've been using E.L.F brand makeup brushes, as they are readily available, and are super high quality. The problem is one of them can run more than this, and doesn't last me much more than a year at that. Time will tell how these hold up but they feel remarkably similar to the ELF brand. These did seem to have a fair number of loose fibers in them to start, though once I hit em with an airbrush for a bit, and ran my thumb over em a few times, it seems to have dislodged the loosies. Not a great look though, as usually once a brush starts shedding its a countdown to it going in the trash. But again, for the price, I cant complain too much. If these end up being single use before they become glue brushes, we're talking like a dollar plus a brush.

This boxed set of 5 brushes is as described - very nicely made and well presented in the 5 sizes. These brushes are high quality made of goat hair. They are easy to hold and look like they will do a good job of dry brushing models, craft items and/or any decor items you may wish to DIY. We found them to be an excellent combination of ease of use, looks, function and sturdy at a very good price point. We would get them again and highly recommend them to artists and crafters alike. They are suitable for any age and should do a good job o dry brushing on a variety of surfaces. They are specifically designed for model and miniature making. The set would make a nice gift!

These do the job. They're well-built so they'll no doubt last awhile. They don't shed and they're easy to clean, too. I do a lot of 3D print work and have found brushes like these work quite well 'cause they allow you to add detail without putting in hours of work. They're cheap, too, so you don't have to worry too much about messing them up or losing them.

I liked this dry brush set and it has decent densely packed bristles. They are not nearly as thick as a very high-end brush set I have, but they are good quality. There is a good variety of sizes and retained their shape well. I’ll be using them for metallics.
