Description

A KEYBOARD THAT PUTS YOU IN CONTROL To put it simply, the CTRL mechanical keyboard has it all. Constructed with a solid aluminum frame with a built-in switch plate, it’s stable and fortified. And thanks to the hot-swap switch sockets, it allows you to change switches whenever you want with no soldering required. It’s also fully programmable via QMK, meaning you can assign macros or custom keybinds to every key. With dual USB-C connectors, the CTRL is outfitted with the fastest available connections. Aesthetically, the keyboard is equally impressive. Featuring customizable RGB backlighting and underlighting, it puts on a colorful show; or you can set it to a single color for a more subtle look. The shine-through PBT keycaps only enhance the performance. What’s more, the keyboard comes with your choice of switches, so you can get just the feel you like—whether you prefer something heavy and tactile or lightweight and linear. OPTIMIZED PER-KEY LIGHTING WITH MILLIONS OF COLORS The switches on the CTRL feature light pipes that are optimized to deliver the most light possible through the keycaps. No matter what tone you want, you’ll have your choice from millions of colors for every single key. Feel free to program the lighting to cycle through the entire spectrum, or set it to a two-toned look to match your setup. There’s also a built-in translucent LED diffuser to minimize hotspots found in many other keyboards. Worried about flickering? Don’t be. The LEDs operate at a frequency of 100 Hz, so there won't be any visible flicker. FULLY PROGRAMMABLE VIA QMK Customizing your keyboard is a lot of fun. That’s why the CTRL features a fully programmable layout, designed for modification. Using QMK firmware, you have total control over every key. Plus, the configurator allows you to program macros and customized keymapping, so you can easily fine-tune your keyboard for gaming, work, or play. It’s also outfitted with two USB type-C connectors (one on each side), allowing you to transfer data and charge devices at USB 2.0 speeds. SPECIFICATIONS Key count: 87 keys Body: Anodized CNC machined aluminum frame Case angle: 6º PCB: Custom Firmware: QMK firmware Sockets: Hot- swap switch sockets Stabilizers: Plate-mounted Cherry-style stabilizers Keycaps: Doubleshot PBT shine-through keycaps Ports: Dual USB-C connectors Dimensions: 14.5 x 5.5 x 1.4 in (36.8 x 14 x 3.6 cm) Weight: Weight: 34 oz (964 g) Included: 56-inch USB cable, keycap puller, switch puller, plate-mount stabilizers, switches and keycaps Cherry MX Blue RGB Cherry MX Brown RGB Drop Halo Clear Drop Halo True Kaihua Box White Kaihua Speed Silver Switch Behavior: Tactile & Clicky (Provide feedback in the form of a tactile “bump” and audible “click” each time a switch is actuated.) Tactile (Provide tactile feedback without the "Clicky" noise) Tactile (Provide tactile feedback without the "Clicky" noise) Tactile (Provide tactile feedback without the "Clicky" noise) Clicky (Provides an audible “click” each time a switch is actuated.) The Cherry MX Blue has a distinct “click” sound when depressed beyond the tactile point, making it the loudest switch in the Cherry MX family. The separated slider construction also provides the highest tactile feedback. A good blend of typing and gaming. Cherry MX Brown is widely considered to be the best “middle-ground” switch. Its tactile bump, silent travel, and medium actuation force makes it a versatile switch. Primarily typing. The Halo Clear being with a slight preload and a lighter, sharper tactile bump than the Halo True. Halo Clears discourage bottom out, but not as strongly as the Halo True. A good blend of typing and gaming. Medium weight, smooth tactile action, and a purposefully light preload are intended to reduce jarring fingertip impacts during rapid typing. Moderately heavy spring to discourage bottom out. A good blend of typing and gaming. Kaihua Box White switches are IP56 waterproof and dust resistant switches. Intended for gaming. Essentially a shortened version of existing MX-style switches allowing for faster actuation. • Garbage
Color: Space Gray Style: Halo True
I lovve this keyboard, except this keyboard is horribly dysfunctional. I have now bought it twice, and it simply doesn't work - it does multiple strokes of certain keys. For example, I'll always hit P and it does PPppp a few times. It's now started doing it with T, B, and V after a month of use as well though less frequenttly. I got another one with different keys in case perhaps it was just the keys (this is after all Halo switches). Nope! The other switches do the same thing and I had to return this one. I am deeply heartbroken about this purchase since I abbsolutely love the keyboard, but as I'm a person with an actual job and stuff, typos like Ppresentation and such get very old VVERY quick. Oh look itt's literally doing it for other keys now too. ... show more

  • Premium TKL Keyboard
Color: Space Gray Style: Cherry MX Blue RGB
I've used this keyboard for a week and I'm impressed. I've used dozens of keyboards (mechanical or otherwise), and this one has quickly become my main driver. Initially I was hesitant about not having a number pad, but I've found that the smaller size works much better on my desk and I don't miss the number pad nearly as much as I thought I would. The keyboard itself is an aluminum body which gives it a premium look and feel. The keys themselves have a slight texture to them which I found nice. The magnetic stands provide the ability to use different angles of incline. They attach quickly and are secure. The LEDs on the keys themselves and around the base are bright (and can be adjusted to your preferred level). Changing key strokes/LED colors/patterns is pretty simple. While the keyboard supports using QMK, I found it easier to use the Drop Keyboard Configurator on their website. QMK likely offers significantly more options, but the website tool allows me to change colors and key mappings. Additionally they plan to add macro support to their tool in the future (per their website), which will add even greater customization options. My main reason for getting this keyboard is the hot-swappable switches. I prefer to type on Cherry Blue switches (which is the version I purchased), but when playing an FPS I tend to prefer Cherry Red switches for a number of keys. Now instead of having to deal with my blue switches or switch to an entirely new keyboard, I can swap out the 10-ish keys to new switches in two minutes and be on my way. Maybe not an issue for most people but it's made the keyboard entirely worth it for me. The bottom line is this is a top-notch keyboard. It has tons of customization options (which will get even better when macro support is added). The hot-swappable switches are awesome. I will likely order another for my second PC. ... show more

  • If this keyboard was a car, it would be a handed down Ford Focus with 200k on the odometer.
Color: Black Style: Cherry MX Brown RGB
I am a professional software developer, that loves video games, and has been working on computers since the 80's when mechanical keyboards where your only options. This keyboard is amazing! Hands down worth every cent. -Edit 11/1/2021: I have had this keyboard for about a year now and the switches are starting to go bad and the USB ports are starting to come apart. Their customer service is literally the worst. They are rude, condescending, and plain out useless. The feet use a magnet to hold them to the bottom of the board, and they are the weakest I have ever seen on anything. The feet fall off anytime you move or adjust, and I had almost lost them once while transporting the board to work in a case. I reached out about the switches, and they told me that it was my responsibility to source and repair, even though it was still under warranty. I had also asked about purchasing extra feet, just in case I did lose them, and the response was almost exactly the same for both, they order the keyboards from a company in China, they don't keep any stock on hand, and do not sell serviceable parts, even though the company is in California, and they are supposed to uphold the "Right To Repair" law. I had asked them for a vendor contact, and the refused to offer that also. Save your money, it isn't worth a 1/4 of the price, I have had similar build keyboards for $50-80. ... show more

  • The Joy of Keyboarding?
Color: Space Gray Style: Cherry MX Brown RGB
I've been using the CTRL keyboard for about a week and it's been a great replacement for my older Nighthawk. Don't let the price scare you away, this is a great keyboard that provides plenty of options to justify the cost - The keys have just enough texture to provide feedback without being uncomfortable or annoying. The out of the box lighting options are great to see some basic configurations the CTRL can produce. Through a Drop web app the color , lighting, and key layouts are fully customizable. The ability to swap(and hot swap) different switches for each key. Reduce accidental key presses by swapping out the ESC or Windows keys with stiffer switches. USB-C integration and 2 USB-C ports allows you to chain peripherals(or charge your cell phone). With the ports being on both sides of the keyboard it also allows you a lot of options in desk layout without worrying if your cable will reach or lay across your desk weirdly. Highly recommend. ... show more
