I just received my drone this week. I charged the remote control battery and one of the two drone batteries that came with the unit. I had the drone operational and flying within 20 minutes! This is the first time I've flown a drone so I'm still getting the hang of manovering it. That said, this drone is a blast! It flies easily. It's quieter than other drones I've observed in the past. It comes in a very nice carrying case which protects it when not in use. Having a second battery is nice as it allows you to rotate the batteries and keep having fun. This model has a GPS and a non-GPS mode. The non-GPS mode allows the unit to be used indoors! The GPS mode is best for outdoors as it uses the GPS signals to stabilize the unit and provide better control. The unit has a GPS home button which will return the drone within a few feet of its launching location. The calibration process is straightforward. The unit beeps at the completion of each step to provide positive confirmation that the step was completed successfully. This drone has many more capabilities that I will be exploring in the coming days and will report back on. In the meantime, I'm giving this drone 5 stars and two-thumbs up for ease of use and fun!

The media could not be loaded. This is a great beginner drone for the price! The camera has decent quality and the drone is easy to control and setup isn’t too complicated. The drone doesn’t feel flimsy and folds really well into the provided case. There is also an app you can download and use to live stream the camera footage, which works pretty well. Below is a breakdown of each of the key aspects: SETUP The setup wasn’t too bad. When I first read the instructions it seemed like it was going to be complicated but then actually doing it wasn’t that difficult. And the app helps walk you through some of the calibration. FLYING The drone flies great. It was very stable and easy to control. It does a really good job of holding its altitude with no controller input, which is especially helpful for video recording and ease of control. It flies really high too. Not sure what the limit is, but I got up to at least 50 meters (the app tells you the altitude). It seems like it flies slower when it’s close to the ground—perhaps intentional programming. Although it’s harder to judge the speed when it’s higher in the air, it seems to fly much faster than when near to the ground. Battery life is about 20-25 mins or so, but the extra included battery is really nice. Between the two batteries I feel like I have ample time to capture whatever the mission calls for. VIDEO and PHOTO The camera takes really good photos and fairly good videos. While the picture quality is quite good, the video doesn’t have the best frame rate. Maybe it’s about 15-20 frames/sec or so. That’s really my only complaint about the camera. The gimbal does a terrific job of keeping the camera steady. There is very little shaking in the videos and it keeps it level when strafing side to side. The only issue I noticed is that sometimes the gimbal points the camera a little off from frontwards. Isn’t a big deal though, and it will often straighten out after a while. The price is important to remember when it comes to the camera. Don’t expect it to yield professional-looking footage that comes with the $1000+ drones out there. For the relatively inexpensive price, I am happy with the camera performance. As far as the live video feed goes, the app works pretty well and isn’t difficult to connect. There’s a little bit of lag which can be annoying sometimes but isn’t so much so that it keeps you from using the live feed to actually control the drone. Sometimes it lags more than others, but it works well for the most part. The captured videos and photos will be automatically sent to your phone through the app, although these aren’t quite as good quality as the ones saved on a micro SD card. There isn’t too much of a difference though, and the low-ish frame rate mentioned earlier is about the same for both. STURDINESS The drone is pretty sturdy and it doesn’t feel cheap. It is heavier than I thought it would be too. But I consider that a good thing because it seems to be fairly strong. Once it got tangled in some tall grass, and another time my dog knocked it out of the air and it crash landed. Both occasions resulted in zero damage from what I could tell (there were a few scratches on the propellers but that’s it). The controller feels a little cheap, but that’s not really a big deal. It works well and the drone itself does not feel cheap. CONCLUSION This is a really good drone for the price. If you want to take some good pictures and have a little video footage too but don’t want to drop a whole lot of money, this is a good purchase. Like I mentioned earlier, however, do not buy this expecting to film the next Spider-Man movie with it—it won’t look like professional drone footage. It does well for the price though. And the photo quality is quite good actually.
