  • Waterproof- definitely not for garden or landscaping!
The description clearly says it’s” highly permeable with no water pooling, however there is no way water is getting through this. I tried a spot of water on this and it’s does bead and run off perfectly, if I wanted waterproof. That’s the opposite of what I bought this for and how it’s advertised, however. I will be returning this and hope others don’t trust the description like I did. ... show more

  • Garden landscape
Easy to install and use. Purchase this because of the price and quality. The original fabric purchase at a box store did not hold up long. Replaced it with this product. Loved the ease of installation.

  • Good, not perfect
It's certainly not bad, but I've used a lot of very high quality stuff in the past and it's definitely lacking in comparison - as it should be, it's a fraction of the price. For this project, it was perfect and I don't expect it to give me trouble. Compared to a high-quality brand I'm used to (with a yellow stripe), the weave is a lot bigger. 2-3 times the width per plastic 'strip' that's woven together. That might not sound like a big deal, or maybe even a bad thing, but it kind of is in some situations. For instance, my no-till garden uses a high quality version, and I only have to replace it every few years or so, unless I want to change up the plant spacing or something. Reason being, when I 'cut' it with a torch, or actually cut it, the high quality fabric does a better job of not ending up frayed. All the edges get melted anyway, so that they won't unravel in the wind. Holes for plants get 'cut' with a torch as well. The quality stuff with a fine weave does a good job 'cutting' with fire where you need it, and for the most part won't continue to burn unless you try to get it to burn. This stuff has to be stomped out pretty constantly while you melt through it. I had an area continue to smolder and didn't realize for several seconds, and by then I had a 1 sq ft area or so burned away. I think the wider weave contributes to how fast it burns. I also noticed when spreading mulch, or doing anything where a corner of something might drag the barrier, it was easy to catch the weave and rip or stretch it (also resulting in a small hole) somewhat. I never have that happen on the stronger stuff when using a rake. Also noticed that after pushing landscape staples into it, the wind easily moves it around enough to stretch decent sized holes where the staple is. That was with this whole roll spread out, and with a staple on each side of the 6ft width at approximately 8ft spacing. Not a big deal for me as the mulch is thick enough on top that these things shouldn't cause a problem. Basically, I would recommend using this cheaper kind if it's going to be covered in mulch or gravel or something, which I'm assuming 90% of consumers are going to do. If you're looking to use it open to the weather, I'd suggest getting something more robust. If I used this for the garden (again, open to the air, I only use landscape fabric as mulch in the garden), I'm not sure it would survive the year honestly. But for my purpose, and the reason I got it, I'm glad I did and I don't think any higher quality would be necessary. It's cheaper for a reason, and there's definitely an application for it. I'm very happy with the cost for what I got (although for me it's a Vine item, but the cost is well worth it IMO). I want to address that I'm very happy with this, the only reason for 4 stars is it's hard to rate this at 5 stars when the high quality fabric I've bought in the past for significantly more money I also rated at 5 stars. I don't want to give the impression that they're equivalent products. *For this money* this is a great value. ... show more
