Works OK on larger gauges, especially stranded. 12gauge and smaller you've to run through 3&4 times and you still have to split and separate the wire from the sheathing. Definitely won't be recommending this to anyone.

For $70 I expected this thing to at least be properly put together. The blade and the rollers are loose on their axles and move side-to-side during use, causing wires to jump out from under the blade. It will strip a wire but it realistically takes 2 people so you can feather the drill while putting pressure on the infeed and outfeed of the wire to keep it centered. IMO it's barely worth $10, so $70 is ridiculous considering it takes just as much time and effort as using a scrap wood jig with a $0.05 razor blade. ... show more

The wire will not stay where it is supposed to in this stripper. I am a commercial superintendent and I will some times scrap the copper wire that is left on my job sites. This product didn’t do live up to its expectations by any stretch. I can strip the wire by hand faster with a razor blade. Seriously! I’ve had my wife time me. Not pleased at all with my purchase. Don’t suggest this stripper .Calhout may have other great products but this isn’t one of them. ... show more

I got it in the mail today and tried it out but it broke after just 1 wire and . The 2 guide wheels at the bottom came loose that helps guide the wire through . The wheels just set's their and spins not cutting and pulling the wire through the cutter. Very bad design

    • OK, but can use improvements...
I have used items like this before that were made of good grade steel whereas this is mostly aluminum, but should get some longevity out of it. And since I have done a lot of machine designing and CNC fabricating for the asking price compared to what this actually costs to produce, they should have included a variable speed gear motor instead of having customers supply their drill as power. That also ties up one of your hands wherein a mounted motor drive would work better with still a lot of profit margin for the maker of this unit. If you are really going to put this to a lot of use that is the best improvement for this but now using you time and additional expense. Otherwise it does what it is intended to do but would do more, more efficiently with a fixed motor drive. Also, they skimped on providing a base plate which is a cheap thing to include, again asking you the buyer to handle that. So not the best value for sales price and you will have to strip a lot of wire to recoup money spent. But over time, long time, you should get a financial payback over inconveniences too. ... show more
