  • Looks better in person, seems a decent value for the price
We needed an inexpensive end table/storage unit to go between two large recliners we just purchased. The intention is to store several laptops and related accessories within the trunk and it seems well suited for that purpose due to the dimensions. Assembly was not bad at all and went rather quickly, though it helps a great deal to have a 2nd person to steady the lid when installing the hinges and supports. You can pull it off solo if necessary, but it all went very quickly with a 2nd set of hands when securing the lid. Just assembled it last night and it seems nice and sturdy (and also quite heavy while empty). MDF is heavy but it feels substantial when assembled. It should satisfy the intended purpose plus make for an end table for drinks and remotes. And since it was cheap, I'm not worried about keeping it as a museum piece. Lid stays open on its own due to spring-loaded support arms and eases down again without abrubt slams. The varnish is a rich brown/cherry finish, a blend of dark red throughout that compliments the brown rather than overpowering it. Nothing to write home about, but not nearly as bad as the plain brown in the pics. At any rate we were very pleased with the color as it blends well with our floor and other furniture. The rivets and hardware look fine as well. If you stand there inspecting every inch of it you may notice a couple rivets that are ever so slightly off the mark. It's a non-issue though, especially at this price. It's tough to find something this tall and roomy for any less than $400 or more so this was a real bargain at around $150. Plus the free shipping from Amazon and assembly that can be knocked out in an hour or less, what's not to like? The only drawback would be that you need to remove stuff from the top real quick in order to access the interior, but then I knew that going in based on the design. ... show more

  • Very nice product, easy to assemble...
So easy to assemble in fact that my 3 year old was able to help me, effectively, with a little guidance from me of course but he still understood. Anyway, product is nice, just as described. The reason for the 4 stars though is that I can see this getting scratched very easily so make sure to use soft bottom coasters or put something on top of it that won't scoot around. Also, and this may perhaps just be installer error but I don't think so (and no, my 3 year old did not help with this part) the hinges either don't go on quite right or they need time to settle because the lid does not close 100%. Well, it closes all the way but if there's no weight on top then it pops back up just a little bit. But it's enough so that if you push on it it will "clunk" shut. Not a big deal, honestly, as pretty much any weighty coasters or other items will keep it closed. Worth the price? Maybe not quite what they're charging, it would be nice if it was about 50 bucks less, but it's still very nice for the price and it's hard to find ottomans that are not Vinyl/Leather or really expensive wood. ... show more

  • Handsome Piece of Furniture
I bought two of these Steamer Trunk End Tables and find them very good-looking and well-designed, such that, once assembled, they do not look at all like a kit from the outside. Assembly includes a LOT of little screws, not all of whose pilot holes are in precisely the right place. But a little patience and care see things through. Everything else fits together very well. The assembly instructions are clear in text and illustration and the hardware is distinctively identified. No parts were missing. Nothing was damaged in transit, due to the top-notch packing. My only real objection is a two-inch scratch in the middle of one of the tops, which had to be there when the kit left the factory since the scratch is colored with wood stain. Basically, a QC goof. But in actual use it is hidden by a table lamp, so no harm done. The other top is perfect. Also, a couple of the small screws went into place at an angle, but I think this was my fault for trying to work under inadequate lighting (lesson learned), moreover these screws are on the inside, so, again, no real harm. As far as the storage space is concerned, it is fairly substantial. According to the instructions, the weight limit for stored items (and also for the top, by the way) is 25 pounds. So I won't be filling the space with books, but have lighter items that will store there very well. Perhaps most important of all, my wife really likes these tables! In sum, the item is gladly recommended. P.S. Next step: find some upgraded lamps that are suitably handsome to go with the tables. ... show more

  • Missing bolts
Style: Retro Color: Black
The trunk looks great, even better than the pictures. The only complaint I have is that there were no bolts included to attach the legs to the trunk so now I’m having to go to a Lowe’s or Home Depot to try to find the right bolt

  • Just do it!

I am SO pleasantly surprised by this table. It coordinates so well with my current style and offers so much storage! It is so sturdy and has a nice strong hinge. Honestly worth every penny.

  • Really good looking!
Style: Retro Color: Black
Love the look of this table. It is sturdy & has the industrial look I wanted. I only thing thing you have to be concern of, is the top of it. You have to be careful of setting drinking glasses that might sweat & cause rings, I haven’t had trouble with anything happening to the top, but I’m careful about what’s put on it. It has storage inside. I love it & it looks so good. The price was great! ... show more
