  • Save yourself hundreds!
Number of Items: 1
Air Conditioner was having some issues and arcing across the connections so this was the solution. Really easy fix so long as you are comfortable with electrical wires and cut the power from your breaker and the thermostat. Take pictures of the current configuration and then just hook everything up the way it was. You might need to cut connections and replace with spade terminals if your contactor had screw posts. Mounting can be tight so be prepared with drilling new sheet metal screws in to secure the unit. But you can't beat the price of a DIY fix verse a contractor charging you hundreds. Save the money and do it yourself! So far so good we will see if it holds up over the years. ... show more

  • American Standard Heat strip contactor
Number of Items: 1
My American Standard AC/Heat went out in Dec. '23 of course when you need it the most. When I turned on the heat it didn't work so I began checking all the normal things, thermostat batteries, breaker panel and then I went to the air handler and took the panel off to take a look. I descovered tucked away behind some wires a 5amp flat auto fuse that was blown. I replaced it and as soon as I turned on the heater it would blow the fuse. I then began looking beyond the little circuit board which was lit up with a good fuse in and descovered this double pole switch and looking at it saw that the coil was melted. Wala! I ordered the correct, matching switch, (this one), and swapped it out. The heater now works perfectly again. Make sure you order the correct switch because they all look the same, single/double pole, 24v, 50 amp, etc. ** NOTE** always turn the breaker off at the main panel and at the unit and then check with a meter to assure that the power is off before working on the unit. ... show more

  • Solved Dimming Lights
Number of Items: 1
I used to have a problem with my older Fedders A/C unit, when it started up it would dim the lights in the house. I installed these four parts and the problem was solved. Start-up was quicker, quieter and no more lights dimming. Was easy to install for all these parts and all less the $50. NOTE: When doing this type of work be sure to DISCHARGE any capacitors in relation to the install, you can get a sizable shock from charged capacitors. • A must to keep on the shelf
Number of Items: 1
Brought a 20 year old condensing unit back to life. If you aren't comfortable working around voltage (PULL THE DISCONNECT AND KILL THE BREAKERS FIRST!) then this isn't the place to be learning but if you know you way around a DMM then this is an easy repair and one of the most common failures on outdoor HVAC equipment. Replace the cap also while you are in there dummy! Both are wear items and will need to be replaced every 5 years or so, or at least they will in Florida where AC is a year round need. Unit worked great the first time and has every time since. No reason to think it won't stay that way. ... show more
