  • My new favorite tool, this powerful Dremel
Style: 29 Piece Kit
I recently purchased the Dremel 8220-1/28 12V Max Cordless Rotary Tool, and I have been blown away by its performance and versatility. This tool is an absolute game-changer for any DIY enthusiast or hobbyist. The 12V max cordless feature allows for easy maneuverability and freedom of movement, making it a breeze to tackle projects both indoors and outdoors. The package comes with an impressive set of 28 accessories, which cover a wide range of applications. I was able to effortlessly switch between tasks such as cutting, grinding, and sanding, thanks to the quick-change feature. The tool's powerful motor delivered consistent and precise results, even when working on more intricate projects. Compared to other rotary tools I have used in the past, the Dremel 8220-1/28 stands out for its durability and reliability. The battery life is excellent, allowing for extended use without the need for frequent recharging. Additionally, the ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip and minimizes hand fatigue during long periods of use. Overall, I cannot recommend the Dremel 8220-1/28 12V Max Cordless Rotary Tool enough. It has truly exceeded my expectations in terms of performance, versatility, and ease of use. Whether you're a professional or a hobbyist, this tool is an investment that will undoubtedly enhance your DIY projects and make your life easier. ... show more

  • Great for arthritic, tired hands
Style: 30 Piece Kit
I have used a corded Dremel and questioned whether this would have the torque and ease of use. Yes and no. You can choose a speed but unlike a foot controlled tool, you cannot regulate that while you are working, without having to stop and physically move the switch. It is heavier and fatter to hold, affecting fine work. That being said, this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Without the cord, you can work in a deep cast iron sink to catch dust and debris. You can angle the tool into difficult positions, without the cord dictating where your contact point is. You can put it down and the cord doesn’t drag it off your work table. It’s speed is just as fast as the corded tool. There is no noticeable difference in torque in normal use. With just a little practice you can achieve accurate control. I purchased the one with the extra battery. Do that. It is true that the power dies unexpectedly and it seems to happen quickly because the Dremel makes time fly with its ease of use. I also purchased the extra “bit” kit. Also worth it. You get a hodgepodge of applications to try out before you have to buy a multipack. I am an older woman with arthritic hands. Where before I used a hacksaw or manual file, the Dremel lickity-split does the job. As one reviewer said, it’s not the force you apply but the efficiency of the tool. That’s accurate. My hand doesn’t hurt and I’m not huffing and puffing to saw a base metal bar in half. Plus the time saved! It is also true that the hard plastic case won’t carry extra accessories like the flex shaft. I have a mind to use the Dremel plastic cutter blade and just cut out the molded clamshell interior and glue a sheet of 1” foam to the lid. But putting your accessories into another box is more organized for me. if you are new to the Dremel, or oblivious, note that the normal use of it does create quite a bit of nearly invisible fine articulate aerosol. Safety glasses are a must and if you have a lightweight safety mask, I would recommend it. A little plastic shield is included but it is surprisingly how far the “dust” flew. All in all, this thing is fun, fun, fun. It’s like Christmas in your hand. PS. If you want to purchase the Protection Plan, the next day after receipt is too late. ... show more

  • Powerful & Perfect for Uncommon Usage for X-Large & Giant Breed Dog Nail Trimming
Style: 29 Piece Kit
I got this Model Dremel to replace an older-version that didn't have replacement parts available anymore. I actually only have a Dremel because I have a 200# Mastiff and 120# Rottie and I've had excellent success using it for their nail management. For the probably very few who will be looking to use this tool for that specific use, I think it's an excellent choice. If you haven't ever used a Dremel for that specific use before and/or if you're using on a smaller breed dog, I'd recommend going with one of the models that doesn't have quite as much power. Using a Dremel on dog nails is a skill that takes time to learn, for both human and canine. Putting too much pressure on or touching the tool to the nail for too long can easily burn your dog. Their nails heat up very quickly when using a Dremel to trim them. Short bursts with very careful attention to the temperature of the nail is the only way this can be done. Once the length has been reduced with the Dremel, use the same short bursts to smooth the bottom and sides of the nail (one of the biggest reasons I switched from manual clippers) so there are no splits in the nail that would cause further stress or damage to the nail. My dogs are constantly being rewarded with treats and praise during this process and have gotten so used to it, they hand me their paws and look forward to their sessions. So, if you're one of the unique ones like me who only needs this Dremel to do her dog's nails, in my opinion, this is an excellent product to use. The amount of power provided is perfect and easily adjustable with only needing to place the tool at the medium strength level for trimming even the biggest of nails. There are plenty of replacement heads provided which are easy to remove and replace. The usable time of the battery is excellent and I have found no decrease in power when the battery loses it's charge. Instead it just won't work, which is fine with me. There are only two things about this Dremel that I am not crazy about, but won't change my number of starts for the review: 1) I have very small hands and this is not a tiny tool. The previous dremel I had, which was a 10-Volt which they no longer make, fit much more easily and comfortably into my hand. This one is a little clunky, but I'm learning to use it. I don't know that it would be great for super detailed work. 2) It runs warmer than I expected it to. It's not anything that makes using it uncomfortable, but was a little surprising. All-in-all though, I'm very happy and love my Dremel and would absolutely recommend and buy again. ... show more
