  • Fills A Niche
This attachment fills a niche in my tool box. I wanted a rotary saw for cutting thin (1/8") acrylic and other plastic and wood. The saw cuts quickly through the material and leaves a smooth edge. It works much better than scoring and breaking the plastic using a scoring knife. For plastic it is much quicker than using a hacksaw or jeweler's saw and produces a straighter and smoother cut. For thin wood I find it easier and more efficient than using fine toothed hand saws for long, straight cuts. I have not had any trouble adjusting to using the blade guard or seeing the guide line and kerf through the clear plastic housing. It cuts a thin kerf. It is not a heavy duty cutting tool. Several reviews have down graded the attachment because it does not work well on hard and thick (1/4") material. This is useful information for setting it's upper limits, but it seems to clear to me that the tool was not made for these applications. I have an old Mikata cordless rotary saw and hacksaw, which I use on that type of material. This saw attachment is the lower (fine, light duty) end-member of a continuum of power saws in my tool box where the large circular and reciprocating saws are the upper (heavy duty, rough work) end-member. I see many reviews that downgrade an item because it did not perform well for a function it was not designed for. Buy and use the right tool for the job. This tool is light duty; that's evident from looking at the illustration. Clearly, it is not designed for use every day by a professional installing floors, etc. It's best use is for a hobbyist and for light duty cutting in thin material. By the way, the first package I received did not contain the drive adapter and the saw blade screw. I returned it to Amazon (they make returns easy) and they sent within two days a replacement. The replacement also did not have those two items. I called Dremel customer service and they were very courteous and helpful sending the drive adapter and screw at no cost, which I received in about three days of placing the call. Dremel said they would contact Amazon about the problem. If you have a problem, call Dremel customer service. ... show more

  • Great for certain tasks!
Great option for thin materials needing squared-cut edges. I like the safety guard, too, but it's no replacement for being smart (and a little paranoid--is a spinning blade, yo!). DEFINITELY perform the run-in instructions! It makes a big racket until it's run at speed for a few minutes.

  • Cuts Fast and Effortlessy, So Be Careful! Practice! Practice! Practice With It!
It's a nifty little power saw, but there is a learning curve to figure out how to properly hold the handle to the work piece.. Accuracy is a problem in that it is hard to line the saw blade up with a mark line on the work piece. There is a clear plastic arrow leading the saw blade, but it's difficult to tell if the arrow is on the mark ( I used a red magic marker to shade the arrow, and a fine tip black marker right down the spine of the arrow to indicate its center.) A guide fence helps to keep the saw blade cutting in a straight line without tliting to either side ( I just used a piece of scrap that had a true edge as a guide fence). It cuts wood faster than a reciprocating blade tool. All and all; it's fun tool but you'll need to experiment with it to get the most out of it. ... show more

  • Works great
It worked great for me, I used it to make a frame for a puzzle I had glued together, it's also a name brand and not some knock off.

  • Great Attachment!
Great attachment. If you need to cut small or thin pieces of wood or plastic you really need this Dremel accessory in your tool inventory. I have only tried it on about 6-7 cuts thus far. I found the best results when the work piece is clamped and in using two hands, one to hold the tool and the other hand to guide the Mini Saw works the best. Perhaps with practice this method will change. Just as with any other power saw, let the tool do the cutting, not the muscles in your arm. Well designed and manufactured Mini Circular Saw. Another Dremel tool that’s well worth the price. Very easy to attach to and position on the hand tool. The saw cuts quickly through the material and leaves a smooth edge. The tool is light duty which should be evident from looking at the pictorial in the ads. Use the right tool for the right job! I have not had any trouble with the blade guard or seeing the guide line and kerf through the clear plastic housing. It cuts a clean thin kerf. Keep in mind it is not a heavy duty cutting tool. “Spinning” in collet chuck problem resolved. Reading the reviews before purchasing this tool a number of them said they encountered problems with the attachment “spinning” in the Collet Chuck. In spite of those reviews it looked like such a great tool idea that I just had to try it for myself. Indeed there was a rotating problem. When I attached it to the Dremel series 4000 tool the Mini-Saw would rotate freely even though the coupling knob was tightened as far as it would go. I then tried it on a second 4000 and had the same problem. While on the phone with Dremel Support, they tried the 670 Mini Saw on a 4000 tool. The saw tightened securely on their tool. They then thought I may have a defective unit and sent out a replacement. The exact same problem occurred with the replacement unit. I called Dremel again and they had no answer for the problem. All they said was send the 2nd unit back to them. I said “before I return it I would try to find a nearby Dremel dealer and take my 4000 with the 670 attachment to them to help resolve the issue.” I then took a closer look at the 670 assembled on the 4000. It became quite clear that the problem was due the coupling knob bottoming out on the front end of the 4000 housing body. I decided to remove a small amount of material from the open end of the black coupling nut. I ended up removing .050/.060 of material, cleaned up the burrs and reattached it on the tool and it tightened up securely. No rotation at all. Did the same to the replacement unit and it also worked. Now I have two Mini Saws that work perfectly. John OakHill Wood Creations ... show more

  • Cuts nice
It cuts nice but it would be nice if it had a little more of a angle to the saws
