Description

The Dremel 3000 is the result of upgrading our most popular rotary tool using user-requested features to improve the tool’s design and ergonomics. The tool also features the EZ Twist nose cap with an integrated wrench that allows the nose cap to be used as a wrench to tighten accessories and eliminates the need for a separate wrench. A more efficient fan design and side vents provide a cooler running tool making it comfortable for extended periods of use. The tool also features a symmetrical design including a trumpet-shaped nose cap to facilitate a pencil-grip tool hold. The ability to use all existing Dremel rotary tool accessories and most attachments let the 3000 complete a wide range of applications including cutting, grinding, sanding, carving and polishing a variety of materials.

  • Best tool set ever
It works great in many home projects.

  • Great tool
Style: 3000 Series Size: 25 Piece Kit
First off, this Dremel is truly amazing. It can do almost anything you can think off with ease. I have cut through 1/8th inch hardened steel sheet no problem, and it will take off bolts just as easily. I primarily use this to cut metal, but it can also cut thick plastic, you just have to watch to make sure it doesn't melt too much of the plastic and clog the cutting wheel or chuck. If you plan on using this to cut bolts or metal often, you will need to buy more cutting wheels as they wear down pretty quickly, and the reinforced cutting wheels like the 2 that come included seem to work the best for me. As far as the other attachments go, I have used almost all them and I love the cut-off wheels and the sanding drums. The grinding wheel also works great but the aluminum oxide stones definitely fell short of my expectations, they wear down super quickly and don't even remove as much material as the sanding drums, but the cone shaped one is very useful for cleaning up welds. The felt polishing wheels will work great for getting a nice mirror finish on metal, but they also wear down pretty quickly when used with a compound. I really don't find the wire wheels that useful because they are just too small to be practical, and the larger ones that go on a drill or grinder are much more effective. People say in the reviews that the attachments don't fit in the included chuck, but they are just clueless and don't know what they are doing, or haven't read the manual that clearly states how to use every attachment. I would recommend getting the keyless chuck, it is great for quickly swapping between different attachments but be careful to get the real one from dremel not a cheap knockoff as they wont work as well and will break easily. The Dremel 3000 works even better than 30+ year old sears rotary tool that I used to use, and I would recommend this to anyone that does any kind of hobby/ craft work, or works on cars and engines where bolts might need to be cut. ... show more

  • Handy tool for precision crafting with plastics
Style: 3000 Series Size: 25 Piece Kit
This is the only dremel I've ever bought and I've mainly used it for drilling small holes in plastic parts for crafting. The sanding bits and cutting bits are all very nice for what they are and as far as power is concerned this dremel has been more than enough for my tasks.

  • Straight outta the box...
Style: 3000 Series Size: 25 Piece Kit
Note: This is prior to any sanding, grinding, polishing, drilling, etc. So first confession is that I enjoy taking apart tools that I buy, before using them, to see what my money's worth. So bad news first right? Anything at 6 (16,000 RPM) or higher on the dial, out of 10 (32,000 RPM), I start hearing a constant high pitch noise. Now, I wore in the brushes for the motor to cancel that out as an option, so I'm gonna guess it's most likely due to one or both ball bearings. The bearings (626DSD28 - 6 mm bore, double sealed) are made in Taiwan by a Japanese owned company named NMB, and both are press fitted onto the shaft assembly. So I'm thinking if I can take them off, purchase higher quality (maybe double shielded) bearings, the high pitch may be eliminated. Second thing, not as bad.. I'm not sure how hot and how fast they apply the resin onto the motor rotor wires, but it looks like pore city. Maybe air was trying to escape in between the wires when the resin was settling in, but it looks pretty porous, so I'm not sure how long it will be until some of those wires may break. Okay, bad news over. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the ergonomics and build integrity of this thing. For around $60, I think it's a good buy. The tool housing is made of Nylon 6 with 35% glass fiber reinforced (the good kind of plastic - strong and rigid with a hard surface) with what seems like a butene overmold. There's a fan and some ventilation openings to keep the motor cool. I ran the tool for 30 minutes straight at 6 on the dial and it was still relatively cool. A part of that 30 minutes was to wear in the brushes. The brushes seem like the carbon-graphite kind, and wear into the commutator nicely. The motor rotor was balanced as expected, and I appreciate the time Dremel took to do so. The cable is made by a Taiwanese company, Lorom. It’s 18 AWG x 2C, can handle 60 degrees Celsius and 300 V. The case the tool came with is made of high density polyethylene like most cases nowadays, but it also has some interactive features that I think are handy. I like the accessories kit it comes with, and has just about everything I think I’ll need for sanding, grinding, and polishing. From using other, more expensive Dremels and knock off brand rotary tools, I think this one will do the job where it counts! Good job making an affordable rotary tool that matches your well respected reputation, Dremel. ... show more

  • Great tool, cuts well, powerful and versatile
I like that the tool allows you to control the speed of rotation, and that it's wired. I found that in general, wired tools are generally more powerful than battery-powered tools. I used this tool and the included cutting disks and sanding bits to cut aluminum in my computer case. Before operation, I made sure to re-familiarize myself with the safety and instructions in the provided manual, as these kinds of tools can be dangerous when misused. I highly recommend that first-time users educate themselves on how to properly change and fasten dremel bits and use proper safety equipment (safety glasses, mask, etc.) and proper procedure. With tools that involve high-speed rotation, accidents are fairly common and can cause a lot of damage. That being said, I liked that the tool came with a guard/shield to protect from flying debris. Also, it's important to allow the cutting tools to do the work and do not try to press down or flex the machine while cutting. You risk damaging the cutting disks and thus causing damage to your piece, or worse, yourself. With proper precaution and maintenance, I see this tool lasting a very long time. ... show more
