Description

The Dremel 3000 is the result of upgrading our most popular rotary tool using user-requested features to improve the tool’s design and ergonomics. The tool also features the EZ Twist nose cap with an integrated wrench that allows the nose cap to be used as a wrench to tighten accessories and eliminates the need for a separate wrench. A more efficient fan design and side vents provide a cooler running tool making it comfortable for extended periods of use. The tool also features a symmetrical design including a trumpet-shaped nose cap to facilitate a pencil-grip tool hold. The ability to use all existing Dremel rotary tool accessories and most attachments let the 3000 complete a wide range of applications including cutting, grinding, sanding, carving and polishing a variety of materials.

  • Great tool
Style: 3000 Series Size: 25 Piece Kit
First off, this Dremel is truly amazing. It can do almost anything you can think off with ease. I have cut through 1/8th inch hardened steel sheet no problem, and it will take off bolts just as easily. I primarily use this to cut metal, but it can also cut thick plastic, you just have to watch to make sure it doesn't melt too much of the plastic and clog the cutting wheel or chuck. If you plan on using this to cut bolts or metal often, you will need to buy more cutting wheels as they wear down pretty quickly, and the reinforced cutting wheels like the 2 that come included seem to work the best for me. As far as the other attachments go, I have used almost all them and I love the cut-off wheels and the sanding drums. The grinding wheel also works great but the aluminum oxide stones definitely fell short of my expectations, they wear down super quickly and don't even remove as much material as the sanding drums, but the cone shaped one is very useful for cleaning up welds. The felt polishing wheels will work great for getting a nice mirror finish on metal, but they also wear down pretty quickly when used with a compound. I really don't find the wire wheels that useful because they are just too small to be practical, and the larger ones that go on a drill or grinder are much more effective. People say in the reviews that the attachments don't fit in the included chuck, but they are just clueless and don't know what they are doing, or haven't read the manual that clearly states how to use every attachment. I would recommend getting the keyless chuck, it is great for quickly swapping between different attachments but be careful to get the real one from dremel not a cheap knockoff as they wont work as well and will break easily. The Dremel 3000 works even better than 30+ year old sears rotary tool that I used to use, and I would recommend this to anyone that does any kind of hobby/ craft work, or works on cars and engines where bolts might need to be cut. ... show more

  • Great quality. A very useful gift.
Christmas gift! They loved it and use it often.

  • Great tool, cuts well, powerful and versatile
I like that the tool allows you to control the speed of rotation, and that it's wired. I found that in general, wired tools are generally more powerful than battery-powered tools. I used this tool and the included cutting disks and sanding bits to cut aluminum in my computer case. Before operation, I made sure to re-familiarize myself with the safety and instructions in the provided manual, as these kinds of tools can be dangerous when misused. I highly recommend that first-time users educate themselves on how to properly change and fasten dremel bits and use proper safety equipment (safety glasses, mask, etc.) and proper procedure. With tools that involve high-speed rotation, accidents are fairly common and can cause a lot of damage. That being said, I liked that the tool came with a guard/shield to protect from flying debris. Also, it's important to allow the cutting tools to do the work and do not try to press down or flex the machine while cutting. You risk damaging the cutting disks and thus causing damage to your piece, or worse, yourself. With proper precaution and maintenance, I see this tool lasting a very long time. ... show more

  • Will do the job, but is this the best the 21st Century offers?
Style: 3000 Series Size: 25 Piece Kit
Dremel touts the 3000 as " the result of upgrading our most popular rotary tool ", so I was expecting significant improvements over the Sears rotary tool I've used for over 40 years. I'm pleased to find the Dremel is a slight step up from my 40 year old Sears "Li'l Crafty" in most respects. It seems to run well with a definitely more powerful motor. It vibrates a little less and is a bit quieter than my old tool. It's slightly heavier probably due to the more powerful motor. The Sears tool does not have variable speed, so the Dremel offers an advantage in that regard. The switch on the Dremel 3000 isn't precise. The single switch includes the "off" setting on the low rpm end. The various speeds are set by moving the switch from the "off" position to the desired speed, however, moving the switch from "off" requires enough force that it hops right past the lowest speed settings. This may get better with use, but It's hard to say. I would have preferred a separate "on/off" switch. Dremel is definitely more flared at the business end of the tool which provides a slightly better grip. It has a rubber-like coating over parts of the tool. The plastic cover on the Dremel is better made with better materials than my old Sears product. I've held the cover on my Sears tool together with glue and a cable tie for about a year. Fortunately all or at least most of the accessories I have for my old Sears unit will fit this Dremel. I am pleasantly surprised that the Dremel came with a storage/carry case which wasn't mentioned in the description of the product. I think the Dremel will do the job and I'll be satisfied with it. I'm just somewhat disappointed that in 40 plus years there isn't a much lighter and perhaps smaller product available ... show more

  • Handy tool for precision crafting with plastics
Style: 3000 Series Size: 25 Piece Kit
This is the only dremel I've ever bought and I've mainly used it for drilling small holes in plastic parts for crafting. The sanding bits and cutting bits are all very nice for what they are and as far as power is concerned this dremel has been more than enough for my tasks.

  • Comes in a nice case finally... Comes in a nice case finally...
Dremel finally provided buyers with a nice case instead of just a box like the last one I bought. It comes with a basic assortment of tools to use so you might want to buy an additional tool set. I still have plenty of those and usually you can buy suited to your needs or just buy individual tools at local hardware stores. I also bought the extension that allows much more options in terms of using the main Dremel tool itself since it accepts all the tools and gives you more ease of use depending on what you use it for since you don't have to support the main unit and it's easier imo for polishing, sanding, cutting, grinding etc. You hold it like you would a pen or marker. I also like that they finally have a clear shield guard included which oddly enough I was wondering why they didn't provide one before I got this set. You always must protect your eyes when using this since it's very powerful so it's nice they finally included one. The case has a seperate box with a few tools so you can keep the ones you usually use in it and if you buy more tools they come in their own boxes if you're buying them as a set. I use this all the time and it makes a nice gift for anyone who does a lot of diy projects, hobbies etc. Also, buy the extension, it gives you much more precision and ease of use depending on your projects. You'll find many uses as you go over time. ... show more

  • Great for many things!
Style: 3000 Series Size: 25 Piece Kit
I bought this in October 2014 and it still works wonderfully. I don't use it often, but it's been great to have for a variety of applications. I love how easy it is to change wheels, or swap to a sanding wheel. I haven't used any of the other bits that come with it (and I just saw today that there's some kind drill looking bits that came with it). And I really love how versatile it is. For example, a drill is just for drilling and it excels at that, but it doesn't work as a saw. A Dremel, however, can be used for drilling, cutting, sanding, etc., and works great if you don't have special/other tools meant for those specific jobs. (Like, cutting the hole for a door's strike plate.) I think I originally bought it for cutting off stuck bolts, or trimming protruding nails/screws. I've used the sanding wheel to cut out a hole for a deadbolt in a door frame, cutting wooden dowels for repairing stripped out screw holes, and other wood related tasks. I also used a metal cutting wheel to cut plastic. Not recommended. There are specific plastic cutting wheels that won't make your plastic material heat up and run, as long as you don't turn up the speed too much. ... show more
