  • In General Good Item
Like the versatility...allows for multiple positioning and work angles. The clamping system is a bit weak...doesn't tighten up quite as nicely as a regular table clamp. And the bar clamps itself necessitates a larger work area due to its length. All in all a good purchase for jobs with specific needs that are not too heavy duty. ... show more

  • Know it's limitations and it's great.
This not a bench vise. It's lightweight. But understanding this makes using better. I'm practicing metal engraving with my Dremel and this holds the part with plenty of force. It quickly and easily unlocks to repostion the part. My only real complaint is the base clamp. It's barely capable of opening enough to attach to a folding table. And it just does grip enough when fully open. ... show more

  • Must have!
One of the best purchases I made. Much better grip than my “steady” hands

  • A Vise I've Used Over & Over
Knowing this was mostly plastic, this vise fits my modeling and small craft project needs perfectly. It is super-simple to mount on a bench or table, and holds with enough tension to work on projects. The plastic clamping prevents damage to finishes of held material unlike my small steel vice on the same workbench. It is NOT a steel vise, so don't expect to apply huge amounts of pressure on it. One improvement I would like to see is a bubble level since the rounded mount (versatile for angle work) is a little tricky to get perfectly level when needed. ... show more

  • A good idea, poorly executed and fabricated
I bought this vise to work on some fishing jigs and assist hooks. The materials to hold were small, and the forces to apply on them (tying, gluing, etc.) very small. The most important features I was looking for were ease of use, flexibility and reliability (holding items in position under small stress). Reading the existing high rates, I am puzzled about what applications other buyers were using this for, which would let them be so satisfied. My own impressions couldn't be further from theirs: * Cheap fabrication - Tolerances are poorly obtained, and as a result pieces of the vise are inconstant movement related to each other. The rubbery grips on the mouth of the vise let things move, they move related to their seats, and the seats move related to the base, which is flimsily adjusted because the tolerances on the large screw are too large, and soy on and so forth. Add to the above the cheap plastic pieces used for pieces that should have high rigidity (such as the adjustable horizontal and vertical screws, and the tool's fitness to purpose goes even further down; this is a VISE, not a children toy (?) * Impractical set-up. By the time I finish adjusting all the lose couplings described above, I already forgot what I was trying to do. CLUMSY would be the right word * Fitness to purpose - If I have so many troubles with very light demands (I am not asking this vise to be an industrial tool)... WHAT is the scenario it was designed for? What comes to mind (helped by the inclusion of an accessory for holding rotary tools, is that this would be a good vise to hold things while I work on them with my other Dremel tools... But then again, those tools require constant re-positioning of the p ice, which this vise does not support well. The whole thing is doubly sad, because Dremel is a brand that is associated with medium to high quality, reliability, and flexibility. Conclusion: it would seem that the Dremell brand is going the way of cheap Harbor-Freight genre of Chinese junk. I returned the product and will be very careful buying more Dremel products. ... show more
