  • It works, but use caution- mine burst.
Size: No Size
I was very lucky clearing a 2" pool line that when it burst I was able to put a hose in the opposite end of the pipe to remove the two pieces, or my problem would have been much worse. My issue was with how far I could put it into the pipe, it needs to be fully contained inside the pipe. I believe mine burst due to the edges of the pipe. There is a definite pulsating affect that was rattling pool pipes above ground before it burst. ... show more

  • I would have paid $100 for this!
Size: 0.75-1.5"
The condensation line on our AC was clogged - again. The Shop Vac didn't work like it usually does. We bought some enzyme from Home Depot that was supposed to unclog it. We poured the bottle in, left the AC off for four days while we were out of town, and came back to a clog. I bought this thing and it cleared the clog in ONE SECOND! It took a total of 5 minutes to get the hose to the air handler, screw this on, stick it in the condensation pipe, and turn on the water. The snot pile that shot out was huge. If you have a similar situation with any clogged pipe, pick the right size and buy one! BTW - it expands immediately to seal the pipe. I was concerned that it might add more water to the pipe and leak out the top but that didn't happen. I'm lazy when it comes to writing reviews, but I ran inside and got right on this one. I have zero affiliation with whoever makes this contraption but I may become a stockholder soon! ... show more

  • Works every time, and is so much better and faster than a chemical drain cleaner
Size: No Size
Despite consistent use of a hair filter, something occurred which clogged up my main shower, suddenly leaving a couple inches of standing water. Unfortunately I could not quickly unclog the drain with a flexible hair remover, or small drain snake like normal, so I used a jug of a popular brand maximum-strength liquid gel drain cleaner which accomplished nothing after 6 hours (I don't know why I bothered wasting time on drain cleaner). I used to have a Drain King I bought ~25 years ago and have used a few times over the years so I was confident this would do the job, but I couldn't quickly find it so I opted to get another one. With Amazon's next day delivery I soon had a new one in hand. The design and use of this new one is exactly how I remember and the results were equally quick to achieve and long-lasting. One usage suggestion is to remember to put a 1/4-turn ball-valve shut-off in line with the hose and Drain King device to enable quick water supply turn-off (just in case anything goes wrong like not having a firm grip on the Drain King and letting it back out of the clogged drain spraying water, or such as causing a backflow through a nearby drain upstream of the clog). I was prepared for this by plugging the nearby sinks and tub (since I wasn't sure where the clog was actually located), inserting the Drain King deeply, and holding it firmly. Once set up, I turned on the water supply for 5 seconds to let the Drain King pressurize the drain pipe, then I turned it off to confirm everything was as expected. The drain was already beginning to flow after zero flow for >24 hours. I re-installed the Drain King and turned it on for 15 seconds then removed it. The drain was flowing like new and the shower quickly emptied. I repeated with the Drain King one more time for 60 seconds, then put everything away. Weeks later everything is still perfect and I reminded myself I could probably proactively do this once per year as preventative maintenance on problem drains and never have to deal with a clogged drain again. Thank you Drain King for a cost-effective, quality, and easy-to-use product. (By the way, the feature ratings include a question about Suction Power which is not relevant to a Drain King device. I suggest removing the question or changing it to something relevant.) ... show more

  • Drain King can be useful
Size: No Size
I had a major blockage in a 2 inch ABS (black plastic) drain pipe under the basement floor. This drain pipe carries all the kitchen sink and dishwasher crud. The Drain King did a nice job agitating the stuff near the clean out opening in the basement, but unfortunately it wouldn't pass through the elbow under the floor. I tried twisting, back and forth motions with the water pressure relieved but it just wouldn't move past that elbow. After operating the Drain King for a few minutes and flushing the pipe with water from the garden hose, some crud came back out of the clean out opening which showed the Drain King was loosening the fatty and hard deposits in the pipe. This device probably does a nice job of pushing hair balls down a drain and cleaning fat from places it can reach, but it couldn't reach all of the fatty blockage which extended far past the clean out opening. I took a chance and ordered a $120 Clog Hog for my Husky 2600 psi power washer. It worked great in my drain pipe. It easily passed through the elbow and on down 30 feet or so from one side of my basement to the other, loosening everything along the way. Unfortunately it backed up most of the crud out my clean out rather than pushing it down the pipe to the street! I used a shallow pail to fill five 5-gallon buckets with fatty liquid and hard (both light brown and black chalky) deposits. I flushed the fatty liquid down the basement toilet, which has a 3 inch drain pipe, using a strainer to catch the solid stuff for disposal in the garbage. It smelled nasty but the job wasn't as bad as it sounds (thank goodness my bathroom air is vented outside!). The kitchen sink and dishwasher now drains very fast. I also installed an Oatey vent relief valve under the kitchen sink in the drain line between the trap and the elbow that leads the pipe down the wall to the basement. No more gurgling sounds from air being drawn through the water filled trap by the sucking action of the water rushing down the drain pipe! Buy a Drain King for hair balls and blockages you can reach without a bend or trap in the pipe. Buy a Clog Hog and rent, buy, or borrow a power washer for cleaning out a long length of fat filled drain pipe -- careful, though, you must order the particular Hog model associated with your power washer. Note that if your pipe is under a slab rather than under a basement floor you can run the Clog Hog "uphill" from your outside clean out back towards your blockage. The crud then passes with plenty of water back towards the street and you can watch it all without any need for buckets and toilet flushing! Both products are well made and should stand up to multiple cleanings. I know I sound like an employee of Clog Hog, but despite my misgivings about the endorsements that mostly appear on websites supported by them, I took a chance and am so grateful I did. Be sure to wear a mask to avoid breathing in the fine particles of the drain contents and wrap a piece of duct tape around the Clog Hog hose a few feet from the nozzle so you won't accidentally pull it out of the pipe opening and risk spraying yourself with the fine high pressure water spray than can penetrate skin! Only operate it in the pipe!!! ... show more

  • Water goes down the drain as it should
Size: No Size
I had my doubts about this tool, but it cleared out the slow flow. When I bought my house, the guest room shower was always slow, but as time went on, it got worse. I tried to snake the drain, which pulled out lots of hair. And I used a chemical drain cleaner, but the flow never cleared up. So decided to try "Drain King," and after a few minutes, I could hear something change. I took out the drain king and now water goes down! ... show more
