Description

Lace low boot. Care Instructions [Smooth] = Clean Away dirt using a damp cloth, allow to dry apply correct coloured wax based shoe polish to restore shine as desired. A new leather for an old classic: this is our iconic 8-eye women's boot in soft, supple Nappa leather. Combined with a rugged yet refined sole, the boot serves up unparalleled comfort mixed with edgy style. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Normally I wear Thorogood brand boots but due to the ever increasing price of them I've started looking at alternatives. Sadly this is not one of them. They aren't bad boots by any means, but for what I paid they're exactly the same as most other reputable brands at this price point. You get exactly what you pay for with these. The fit isn't perfect, but it's better than most other boots at lower price points. It's average at this price point. The material isn't the absolute best, but it's not bad either. It's average at this price point. The comfort is not the best I've had either, but for the price... it's exactly as expected. They're not bad at all, they just aren't anything worth writing home about either. I'd say that if you're used to buying cheaper footwear, then you'll enjoy these just fine... as you would with most other reputable brands/models at this price point. The lack of half sizes is weird to me, but it worked out okay. I normally wear size 11.5, so I bought the size 11. There's more wiggle room in the boot than what I normally have with more expensive brands, so I'm not sure I'd call these 11's? I'd say they're either definitely 11.5, or at least just shy of it. I'm seeing a lot of reviews saying to buy a size up but I can't possibly see how that could even be remotely true what-so-ever at all. Even looking at the measurements on their website, these are pretty big for the claimed sizes. If you're a half size, order a size down for sure. They do look rather dashing though! Perhaps that's the one thing I appreciate about them more than other boots at this price. They look great! And they're easy to keep clean without having to go with black outsoles, though I do question the longevity of the outsoles based on reviews, so we'll have to see. ... show more

  • Would buy again!
Size: 9 Color: Black Pat
So I write this after having these boots for exactly 1.5 years; I love them! I do not regret this purchase. I will say though, they are more for the aesthetic appeal vs comfort. I do not wear them everyday, more like once a week or 2-4 days out of the month. They have wore-in comfortably over the past year. They still look brand new. I also want to add that I do take great care of them! Which is why they still look so good. If you plan on wearing them to an event that requires standing on your feet for more then 6 hours, your heels will start to hurt after a while. However I have never gotten a blister or any skin damage from wearing them for long periods of time. I would definitely recommend these!! ... show more

  • Stop shopping for steel toes and buy these.
I've been wearing these in a dry dock for 2 weeks. 3rd pair of docs in last 5 years. 1st time with these icons. My first steel toes lasted the 5 years. Much wear but broke in and finally the sole cracked. But I abuse them on ships walking on a non skid. Docs take a beating. I cleaned them every now and then. They would eventually let water thru. The second pair I bought are a hiking steel toe. Not water proof but comfy. These icons are STIFF! But I know on the other side of this discomfort is a pair of work boots I will enjoy for years to come. Full disclosure, I still wear my docs from 1995 around town. They will take care of you. Chinese made now, but the soles on these icons are thick and show quality workmanship. If these icons do not live up to their older siblings standards, I will come back to adjust. I doubt that will happen. Last photo is of the other 3 pairs I mentioned. 1/30/2018 Update: Couple months in, shoes broken in wonderful....I really can't say enough how comfy my feet are walking on steel decks, standing the garage with a beer, or just walking through a parking lot. I did spray them with a water repellant. They wore well in the snow. BUY THESE!!!!! You will not be dissapointed. ... show more

  • They're awesome
Size: 9 Color: Black Pat
I've wanted these boots since I was a teenager and finally decided to get them, and they're as magical as I hoped they would be. Takes a while to get used to them and are a bit uncomfortable at first, but it does take a while for these boots to break in. These are in fact Doc Marten originals and are worth it. ... show more

  • They are comfortable!

Not at all what I was expecting from a boot! I bought a pair a doc martens because my husband has a pair. He swears by them. So I decided to check them out for myself. Upon putting them on I noticed that they are very comfortable. After walking around in them for a good half hour I see what he means about them being amazing.
