Description

With a sturdy, lightweight zig-zag sole with extra platform height, the blaire sandal by Dr. Martens has tons of classic doc's attitude and hard wearing durability — and is 100 percent vegan. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Have you ever experienced love at first step? I have. In these shoes. I wear these shoes with literally EVERYTHING. They’re the only shoes I wear when I’m not at work. Upon purchase they had minimal break-in time, it was within a day or two they felt fully comfortable/broken in. So this is only day one but, they’re so comfortable I have wide feet! I normally wear a 7.5 in dress shoes and tennis shoes that I can’t get a wide in. A 7 was perfect for my wide feet. These are probably still a half size too big but there’s no way my wide foot would fit a smaller size. These are great for walking. Way lighter than I expected aswell. Sizing was really off with these. I ordered a 9 and a 10 unfortunately they were either too big or too small. I found some knock offs that fit just right for wayyyy less, I was shocked lol. But I love dr martens and all the boots I have fit just right, I do wish these were avail in a 1/2 size but I guess these just aren’t for me. I am a size 9 these are about less than an inch too small :/ ... show more

Wore them daily in Bangkok, Thailand for a week. Never once did my ankles or feet get tired (from the shoes at least). Extreme support and friendly to wide feet. Granted I wore with cute socks there’s no concern for blisters as of yet. Let’s see what Summer brings! I want a couple more styles.

I am a size 10 (6 feet tall) and have no issues with sizing as many others have experienced. I purchased from Journey's, both the brown and black pair of their gladiator sandals and I adore them. I've received many compliments on and a woman even chased me down in the airport (May 2022) to ask where I got them. They're fabulous in everyway. Now these Blaire sandals are a different story. Got these in July '22, wore mostly to work (office 3x a week, sitting 8 hrs a day and a month in and I noticed my feet were moist and pilly/ dirty. Gross. The ankle and the first strap after left dark marks as seen in the photo. I am now using discoloration serum to rid the marks. Always the standard of comfort, style and durability but these Doc Martens are a miss. ... show more

I wear a size 6 in most of my shoes, some times a size 6.5 but these are perfect for wide, fat feet. they are so so comfy. I usually have a problem with my toes being to big with these types of sandals but i love these so much and they look great with jeans too!

These are excellent quality sandals. The soles are thick and slightly platformed but are very easy to walk in for longer periods of time and give great support. They are heavier and run a bit big (as is typical of docs) so order a size down. I would typically wear an 8.5 or 9 but the 8 fits perfectly for me. ... show more
