Notice 1. 4 channel can work (input or output) at the same time, but this function only can be set by pressing the four channel buttons on the front panel, cannot be controlled by remote control. 2. I get this does nothing to improve sound quality but it does work so well watching the needles bounce around. I have emotiva amps and they are blue LED, and this color does well added to the mix. i have been very pleased with this little item. the brightness is nice as well and the ability to adjust the MIC pick up to determine how much bounce you would like to see when turning up your stereo. The build quality is also pretty sturdy. I think for what it does seems a little pricey for the value but I did purchase it so i guess it didn't bother me too much. ... show more

    • Finally, a decent output (or input) unit
I have some nice audio equipment, and have been using a pass thru switcher box, which looked horrible next to my nice equipment. The only other powered one I ever ran across was from the ‘70s— an Onkyo U-30, which is almost impossible to find, and at least $350. Kudos to a company that actually makes this one of a kind item. No more clunky buttons and ugliness. Beautiful unit. Here are my only issues: -Power cord was too short- ordered longer one from Amazon; -No means to plug in an electrical socket? Really?…back to Amazon for a USB connector for power. For the price, these should be included. Overall, very pleased. They are the only ones that provide additional output capabilities in an attractive package. If you have multiple turntables or cassette decks- like me- and have run out of outputs- this unit is a nice, if expensive solution. Update June 2024- well, I’ve now ordered my third unit. At the risk of questioning my sanity, I have purchased an old school Panasonic 8 track recorder and Revox reel to reel, both serviced with a Sony reel to reel deck and Web radio tuner-another Amazon item- and am daisy chaining these three units together. I didn’t need this as a switcher or anything. I just wanted the big blue backlit VU meters and I got exactly what I want :). Looks awesome. I put it on mic mode and play my hifi and those needles dance. Exactly what I wanted

    • The internal Mic is the only reliable input!!!!
I like the look of this VU meter but it has some functionality issues. The internal mic works great but is the only usable input to activate the the VU meters. When plugging an RCA source into this meter it drops the voltage in the line for all rca outputs. This isn't normal and it also imbalances the output to the other channels. This is with nothing running out of this meter just into it. With this issue I can and will only use it as a show piece in my system with no real reason to own it. Other than adding the blue lights and dancing needles. Don't buy as a switching source or as an rca line level indicator only buy if you want to use the internal mic for the VU meter. Other issues are the remote barley works and is very flimsy causing me to open the battery door when ever the remote doesn't operate the meter. I replaced the remote with a cheap universal remote so I could actually turn it off reliably. ... show more

Looks kool as all get out but it does change the sound because of the way you have to hook it into your system. If I continue to use it I will need to replace the wiring and electronics inside the piece to quality parts

Well built,quality connectors,many calibration options. I’m only using it for the look of the blue meters so I can’t vouch for sonic neutrality. It looks great alongside my blue circle logo Marantz gear. Adds a touch of McIntosh to the system.Remote is flimsy and the only way to power meters on and off. Was purchased as a power meter because the face of the meters show watts. However unit only seems to function as a VU meter. Big Difference. Certainly not an Amazon issue. Unless I have missed something. this unit is not a power meter just because that is what the meter face shows. Meter does not respond to volume but to level line inputs. Instructions say you can connect speakers but most units of this type do not allow that type of hook up. Feedback welcome. ... show more
