  • Works well. Easy to install.
After getting a check engine light on my jeep wrangler , I was able to read the code and found it was a P0128 code indicating the engine was running cooler than expected. This could indicate a thermostat that was stuck open. To further verify that the thermostat was the culprit I used my ODB2 scanner to monitor the coolant temp. With the engine idling in my driveway, the original thermostat was cycling the coolant temp between 190 and 200 degrees which seems a little low for the 3.6L Pentastar engine as that thermostat should just start to open at 203 degrees and reach fully open near 215 degrees. My cabin heat, while ok, was also just not as hot as I was used to. This thermostat install is a relatively simple procedure and there's already a gasket installed on the replacement. I cleaned up the mating surface on the engine with a green scrubby pad to help insure a leak free seal. I also used a small bicycle sized torque wrench to reinstall the bolts and torqued to 105 inch lbs. This is just a little over 8 foot lbs - don't get these mixed up. So the bolts are snugged up nicely but do not need to be cranked super tight. With the new thermostat installed, the coolant temp is now cycling between 200 and 213 degrees. The P0128 code is also gone, and the cabin heat is back to its normal "nice and hot". Make sure you have the proper coolant to add back in to your radiator as you will probably lose 1/2 gallon or more minimum. ... show more

  • Failure confirmed after exactly 1 year Failure confirmed after exactly 1 year
Not reliable. This failed after 1 year. We are currently pregnant and this thing failed after having purchased it at this same time last year. I boiled it to confirm its failure and it succeeded. So stressful when your relying on your vehicle for all the life things then suddenly the dash is exploding with overheating lights. I replaced it with a Mopar thermostat and it worked right away. Go to their website, its cheaper than the dealership. Good luck. ... show more

  • Works like it should
Works as it should, I had a lower temp t-stat from when my jeep was pro charged and it would not get nearly warm enough during the cold weather. But now with a normal OE temp T-stat it was a great toasty jeep

  • Thermostat
I have a bad experience with this thermostat, I was going to buy Mopar OEM but read a bunch of reviews and decided to purchase this one from Dorman, the thermostat isn’t opening at 203f like stated it’s opening between 222-227f and causing my jeep to run hot. I have reached out 2 Dorman 2 times with no response. I have 2 stars because the figment was great I must have just gotten a bad thermostat. Edit added 2 stars because Amazon sent a replacement and it fixed my issue but idk how long it’s going to last and I have to go send back the old one. ... show more

  • Clear the annoying operating temp engine light.
2nd of these I have used on 2 Grand Cherokees. at 8 and 10 years when the operating temp didn't come up quick enough. Replacing for 10 degree difference is a nuisance, but It seems like the new unit actually improved fuel economy a little. Installation is less than 15 minutes and I didn't even bother to clear the CEL. It went away after about 5 restarts. OEM Quality for a perfect fit. ... show more
