Features

  • Better sound technology: High-modulus carbon fiber material increases the violin bodys vibration capacity while reducing the damping coefficient. It also improves sensitivity, tone purity, and high frequency range, resulting in a rich, sweet sound.
  • Innovative Materials Providing High Stability for Fragile Wood: A traditional wooden instrument is easily deformed with drastic temperature and humidity changes which results in poor violin sound; therefore, users often need to spend extra money to maintain and repair their instruments. With its carbon fiber material, Donners RISING-V remains reliable and maintenance-free despite drastic temperature changes.
  • A Patent-Pending Ergonomic Shoulder Rest: The patented shoulder rest is made of soft EVA material which fits the body perfectly. It helps players reduce muscle tension in the cheeks and shoulders, allowing them to perform in the best possible way.
  • Every Component Detail Is Kept in Perfect Condition: The RISING-V offers AAA grade ebony pegs and a sound post from composite material, which ensure the lowest sound loss and optimizes intonation stability. Furthermore, we provide two types of bridges made of high quality maple that beveled and carved in Europe, allowing a whole range of performances.
  • Beginner-Friendly Experience Right Out of the Box: Donner RISING-V set includes a carbon fiber violin, bow, extra set of violin strings (Thomas), two violin bridges (HPL, maple), high-quality rosin, EVA soft shoulder rest, ebony chin rest, clip-on tuner, EVA case.

  • It's a boomy sounding fiddle
Color: Green
This violin looks beautiful. Mine has a matt green finish. It is very sturdy. It is easy to hold and to play. The foam shoulder rest is comfortable and should adapt well to anyone who plays a full-size violin. The suction cups don't work. Get a big rubber band to hold it on. The violin sounds a little like you are playing inside a barrel; the sound seems to have more bass response on the D and A strings, than a wooden violin. Stradivarius wouldn't like it, but it will not kill a beginner's desire to learn how to play. Mom and Dad will like it because it is not quite as loud as a wooden violin. Getting it ready was an adventure. I set up the wooden bridge, (there is a plastic one too), and tuned the strings. Awful sounding, tinny, harsh, shrieks! I checked the sound post. It leaned badly and was way out of position. I lightly touched the soundpost with the setting tool, and it fell down. Aha! The sound post is two hex shaped pieces screwed together (nice, adjustable length). Oh! And there are little round pads inside the violin on which the sound post sits; no guessing where it belongs. I placed the soundpost in position and extended it until it fit snugly (I made a little wrench from brass sheet.) I tuned it up and it played nicely (not a Stradivarius). I tried another set of new strings. The sound of the instrument did not change. It is a boomy sounding, somewhat quiet instrument. The sound is not as rich as a wooden violin. I found it easier to hold and keep in position than some of my other instruments. Getting the right shoulder rest to fit your specific shape makes all the difference with the standard violin. The foam shoulder rest on this Rising-V should almost make it a "one size fits all" for anyone who can play a full-size instrument. ... show more

  • Broke but updated
I wrote a pretty scathing review as I had a break with the instruments pieces first time I used it and was not getting any answers from the company that would make the issue right but they have come through to make the issue correct in a way that made it ok in the end so I will revise my review in fairness for them stepping up at the end of the day. Kudos to them on that. ... show more

  • Very heavy and does not make much sound
While the instrument itself is quite beautiful, it is very heavy and hard to play. You can't attach your own shoulder rest due to the shape. The included shoulder rest is very thin and sticks on with suction cups that don't stay on well. The fingerboard is oddly textured and it has circles for the finger placements. These are actual indentions/cutouts in the fingerboard, and because some material has actually been removed under the string, they seem to interfere with the integrity of actually playing the violin properly. You can actually feel them while playing. I was very disappointed with the sound. I tried installing and trying both bridges and but regardless it just doesn't project or make much sound at all. You could be in the same room with someone and they would have trouble hearing you at all. Honestly it just sounds like a violin without a sound post or an un-amplified electric violin. The sound is very thin and wimpy. That combined with the difficulty of holding the instrument and irregular shape make it hard to recommend for anyone. ... show more

  • pretty good
i like it, some bad reviews are due to incorrect setting up like bridge angle and resin. and playing does need some techniques as well, like how to make the string vibrate by sliding the bow gently across the strings... it's not a easy instrument to play, that's all

  • Pros and cons
For starters, it’s a nice violin. I’m not going to lie. However, there are something’s you buyers should be aware of when buying this. (I’m not trying to scare anyone away, it’s just what I’m working with) 1) the violin sounds nasally. Not a lot but if you’ve been playing the violin for about 3+ years, you can tell the differences. Like it’s made from plastic. Idk it’s carbon fiber so I suppose it sounds different. It almost sounds as though it’s a half electric. 2) the pegs, you would have to keep tuning it . It will drop in pitch but not a whole lot. You’d have to keep turning the pegs a few time to jump up in pitch. Mines been doing that. 3) you can’t even close the case with the violin inside without taking off the bridge. I mean you can risk it but the top part is pushing down on it and there’s no cushioning or space for the bridge. 4) you can’t use your own shoulder rest. You have to use the one they sent you with. I tried and it just keeps slipping, there’s no edge for your violin to clip on to. And the one they sent with this is okay. Not really it’s like a 3.5/5. It doesn’t rest comfortable on your shoulder and the sucktion doesn’t really stay in as well. Pros: 1) You basically have a good beginner set up; rosin, bow, a tuner, 2 bridges to chose from. You also get a a nice bow. It feels and plays like the $60 one I bought. 2) there’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th finger place embedded in the board. So you don’t have to waste another $5+ on a finger board sticker. 3) honestly, the look is amazing. It’s smaller than an acoustic one. Like I said, doesn’t sound that bad nor good. But I guess you can say you’re getting the feel of an acoustic and an electric together. 4) Case is not huge and bulky. It’s think and feels somewhat protective, but it does pack some real weight. It’s good to carry around if you want to bring with you to travel somewhere. So that’s what you’ll be working! Like I said, someone could be having a different violin experience as me but it’s just what I get is totally different. ... show more
