  • Acoustic Guitarists - Grab this Guitar (with effects) - You are in for a Treat.
I have played the guitar for decades, and owned a dozen or so guitars all over the price-range. I say this without hesitation - this is the most fun guitar I have ever had. The guitar features a simple innovation - effects inside the box via a small inbuilt amp and speaker, which results in an amazing, rich range of sounds in this 3/4 sized midget. And the fun part - you don't have to plug the guitar to an amp to enjoy the effects or be tethered to a speaker to enjoy the effects. Without these built-in effects, this is an ordinary low cost & quality guitar that does not merit a second look and with unremarkable raw sound. The stand-alone effects transform it to punch much higher than its price-range. On a welcome positive note, the action is low (much better than my Yamaha guitar - my fingers thank you). The raw sound without effects tends to be more on the metallic side - better gauge strings might improve the sound quality. There are a couple of annoying items that merit deducting a star: (1) the fret edges are angled sharply, and can cut your fingers if you are not careful as you slide along the fretboard. (2) I may have got a lemon - the lower E string does not stay in tune. I am hoping it will settle in, but this is not a good sign: I will return this if the tuning does not stay in place after a week of playing. The preamp is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery, which can reportedly last more than 6 hours of playing time. Several generous extras came in this package: a soft gig bag, spare strings, capo, plectrums, strap, tuner, and a cable to charge the internal battery via USB. A small folded paper explains how to operate the unit - long press power for a few seconds to turn it on. There are 3 knobs (and an additional nested knob) that control the effects. I picked this up on a whim during Amazon's Black Friday deals, and the advertised price is well worth it. If you love playing the acoustic guitar, you will enjoy this guitar - grab it before it sells out. ... show more

  • I would give it 5 Stars is not for the setup cost
So I absolutely love this guitar for the price. It is really well made and nice sound. My only complaint is that it cost me $200 to get it setup by a professional and to have better Nut, Saddle and End pins installed. Overall still a nice instrument for the price. Just know to really get this guitar up to speed there's some investing that needs done to upgrade some of the parts and lower the action. ... show more

  • It is a great camping guitar. This is for the DAT 115S model with effects 3/4 guitar
In other reviews there were problems with wires not hooked up. Before I read those reviews I almost sent the guitar back. After seeing how one reviewer connected the loose wire I then took the strings off and connected the wire. I put Elixer custom light coated strings on the guitar and I love it now. I don't play it with an amplifier so I don't have problems with feedback. I just turn on the Transacoustic features like delay, reverb and phaser. The directions are lacking so you have to play around with the knobs and find all the sounds. "Steve from Boston" YouTuber has a code to get $20 dollars off and then the Amazon coupon for $20 dollars can make this guitar $160.00 bucks and that is about what it is worth. I really love it. I took it camping because I didn't want my expensive guitars outside in the wild. It is great for the outside because of it's stand alone amplification. I would recommend it. It came playable out of the box. Remember though Yamaha makes great beginner guitars also and you can try them in your local guitar shops unlike Donner guitars. I also have a Donner electric guitar which was made well so I have no complaints about the company though I feel there needs to be better directions and all the wires need to be hooked up before sending them to customers. I do really enjoy the guitar. The Transacoustic features are very cool. Watch "Steve from Boston" review on this guitar on You Tube and then scroll down and find the $20 dollar off coupon. No I don't know Steve. I just like guitars and that is what his channel is about. ... show more

  • This company does make things right
Color: Retro Style: with Sound Amplifier
Didn’t work with the amp or to record on the computer.Read the reviews where it said to change the battery and took it to my local music store and there’s no connection for one.Guess my son owns a new wall decoration and I’m out 200 bucks. UPDATE: Their customer service did reach out and after 1 day of troubleshooting refunded my money.I changed to 3 stars for their customer service team which was prompt and courteous.Their customer service is 5 star, but unfortunately my product just didn’t work as described.I would consider buying from them in the future based on their customer service alone. ... show more

  • Nice little guitar
Color: Retro Style: with Sound Amplifier
Guitar seems well made and sounds good. String action seems fine. Added pick guard to mine. The one I received was a little darker than the picture. That was a little disappointing but not a deal breaker.

  • About what you'd expect, overall not bad
Color: Retro Style: with Sound Amplifier
Having played guitar and bass for almost 25 years, I've owned well over 100 instruments. This is a decent guitar for the price, especially considering that it included an amplifier. The guitar body is about half as deep as a normal acoustic, and therefore a bit quieter though more playable for a beginner. Some slight cosmetic issues here and there, but since I bought this guitar for my nephew who is just learning, it will likely get beat up anyway. The tuners aren't great, the electronics aren't terribly versatile, the fretboard is painted black, and the gig bag sounds like it's padded with tissue paper. However, considering I bought the whole bundle for $185, there isn't a lot to complain about. The neck is very comfy and easy to play, and swapping the strings out for a name-brand set does wonders for the tone and volume. The guitar is nowhere as good as a $200 Yamaha, but given the extras included in this bundle, it's a worthwhile deal. ... show more
