Donner DSC-128, when I purchased this I had the same expectations as everyone else, cheap guitar so don't count on it being of high quality. I bought this guitar with the assumption it would need a lot of mod work ( as all the other cheap guitars I've purchased in the past) so I got all my luthier tools out and ready for it's arrival. when it did arrive, and quickly I might add, It was packaged well. I opened the box and found the guitar already inside the gig bag. it was wrapped well and protected. once I removed all the wrapping I started to tune ( I usually change the strings first but, I was curious as how they would sound). to my surprise they tuned well ( I use a "Paterson Strobe" to tune and set intonation). I let it sit for 24 hours and tuned again. again I was surprised as they were not that far off, I expected it to be out of tune not because it's a cheap guitar but, because strings need to stretch and relax in to position and the neck needs to see resistance from the strings before I can set the truss. so, I set the guitar on my work mat with a neck support and began my inspection. this guitar continues to surprise me, I checked for any fret buzz and found none. I checked for string height and it was almost perfect( well enough that I left it alone). no sharp edges from the frets, and fret height was even. fret board was a little dry but that can be taken care of through basic maintenance ( anyone who knows how to play a guitar should know how to do basic maintenance), tuners moved easily and held well, checked the neck for straightness and it was perfect( never seen that before). using my strobe tuner( which I recommend but, a good quality chromatic tuner that shows cents will also work) I started to check intonation. Low E (6th string) was out slightly. a turn and a 1/2 on the bridge screw and it brought it right in, well, as close as it could get, intonation will never be perfect. I have a Fender American Strat, an Epiphone les paul custom and a Gretch and as hard as I try they can get close to perfect but still slightly off. all the other strings were close enough that I didn't want to make any non-needed adjustments. I left the pickup height alone,I'll adjust if necessary. so next was electronic testing. I have a Fender Champion 2 that I use for this ( a 20 watter will do for testing), plugged it in and checked for sound, pots and switch worked as they were intended. left the amp on clean and switched between pickups. again, pleasantly surprised. keep in mind that these are not Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded or Fishman Fluence Modern Pickups but for the price they were better than expected. I threw on a Boss fuzz and a flanger and let it rip, it had a very decent sound. If i do anything to this guitar it would be changing out the pickups, that's it. if your looking for a good starter guitar (or possibly for someone in a garage band) this guitar would be perfect.

This guitar is AMAZING! Needed zero setup, played perfectly out of the box. Box was severely damaged during shipping but no damage to the guitar. I'm getting back into playing after taking a short 30 year break from guitar, but I'm finding myself trying to find more time to practice due to just loving this guitar! Will definitely be ordering another Donner in a few weeks!

Excellent guitar the price. The free case stap and cord would cost sixty as a add on thru jackson etc. Neck was straight as a arrow frets were good and level , the neck is stained and required a slight buff with a scotch bride pad and micro fiber smooth out in two small areas. Standard setup like all guitars. Plays as good as my 800 ones that also required as much or more. Very classy and moder look and feel . Pickups sound good for metal rock etc . This would easily be a 400 priced model at guitarcenter with none of the freebies. If your looking for a thinner flat top light weight modern lp style for this is a great alternative that can be easily upgraded as you go.

Very nice! the jack went bad on my Dean, I needed another guitar , with little money, I started watching the budget guitar reviews on YouTube and a couple weeks later ordered the black donner Les Paul.it was nicely packaged,in gig bag ,high gloss finish, big c shape neck ( I love ),binding around body and neck! The knobs have nice resistance , great sound, I'm very impressed! Very happy with my purchase !
