The media could not be loaded. I had moderate hopes for this guitar. I’m not a professional guitar player or luthier by any means, but I’ve been playing guitar for over 50 years. Initially I got the guitar out and was quite impressed with the packing (see pictures). It came well packaged and protected. I tuned the guitar initially a couple steps lower so as not to stress the neck until it had more time to settle in. I was becoming impressed with the sound, noticing that the strings that come on it weren’t great but not too bad. I started to play a few chords and thought wait, what is going on. I soon realized that the 3rd fret was too high. It made the high E string unplayable below that fret. I checked it with a credit card (poor man’s fret rocker) and indeed there was an issue there. I thought maybe it could be compensated for by relaxing the neck. I tried that, realizing quickly that would take way too much neck adjustment to be practical. I contacted the seller and was asked for pictures. So I sent pictures and videos. They suggested that I take it to a guitar store to have it fixed. Seriously??? I know it’s not uncommon (and maybe necessary) to do some initial “setup” on a new guitar, but this “solution” wasn’t acceptable. I initiated a return for replacement through Amazon (which went fine). Shortly after doing this, the company emailed me offering to send a new guitar, and “you don’t have to return the original”. Well, that would have been nice to offer initially, but Amazon came through anyway. The replacement guitar came, again well packed. There was a bit of fret buzz on the low E string. A quick, easy, 1/4 turn on the neck adjustment and that was remedied and the action was still nicely low. So my thoughts on this (2nd) guitar…it is pretty light, which is nice for handling, but I feel it may be a bit more fragile than a guitar with a little more weight. It does have a solid Sitka spruce top, laminated mahogany sides and back, and mahogany neck and fretboard. So far I’ve played only with the original strings, but I will be changing those. I’ll try the set that comes with them, but not sure I have a lot of confidence in them. The tone, even with the original strings, is pretty decent, impressive even. The playability is surprisingly good, especially for this price point of guitar. The tuning pegs work really quite smoothly…again a nice surprise at this price point. The fit and finish, again, is surprisingly nice. One minor detail that is a bit off is the fret ends…some of them are a bit sharp. They’ll take a little polishing to smooth them, but not terrible. All of the extras that come with this set are a nice bonus. The tuner, capo, strap, picks all are pretty good quality and work well. Also includes a cleaning cloth, Allen wrench (for neck adjustment), a chord chart, string height measuring card, and a stick on pick guard. The pick guard is probably my least favorite “extra”…I just don’t care for the color and shape. I think it would cheapen up the looks. So, while this guitar is not perfect, it is surprisingly good, especially for the price. I was super excited to get this guitar. I thought it would be a great new relaxing hobby. I think the guitar itself is perfect for beginners. Nothing fancy. I deducted a star due to customer service. The first guitar I received was just the guitar and the bag. The accessories were no where in the bag or the box. I emailed Donner figuring they could just send me the accessories. It looked like they would. I received several emails in which I was asked to send them pictures of the box, guitar, shipping label etc. After this process, I was emailed that I would now be redirected to the proper person to take care of this issue. The next email made almost no sense whatsoever. Obviously not an English speaker- possibly even translated by a computer. My literal reply was “what”? The email said it would be 34-40 days. Next, they send an email that instructs me to return and replace item through Amazon. I am sure there are plenty of reviews that describe the playing quality of this guitar. As a beginner, all I can say is it seems nice. I haven’t made any totally hideous sounds on it. I like that it was supposed to come with all of the accessories. And I did receive a replacement that included the promised pieces. My daughter quickly tuned the guitar for me without any problems. Hopefully I will be playing a little bit very soon. ... show more

I bought this for my Son so that he can start to learn how to play the guitar. This is probably my error more than the companies but I didn't pay attention that this guitar is 3/4's the size of a normal guitar. I was disappointed due to this being a Christmas gift. I can say that the quality is there and it is a great guitar for smaller kids/individuals that enjoy that size. ... show more

Excellent sound quality..good craftsmanship.. The carry case is very nice and padded.. a lot of accessories included with the shipment.. Would definitely purchase this guitar again.. The only negative was the edges of the frets were little rough..

The craftsmanship was excellent. Nice binding -front & back. The fretts were smooth like those found on expensive guitars. The fingerboard was dark throughout. Out of the box the action was playable. After tuning no buzz. The bone nut & saddle, solid spruce top, and quality strings combine for a nice sound. The headstock looks smart and the black machine heads 18:1 tune nicely. The finish of the top is very warm and the mohagany back & sides are finished with a light gloss sealer. The cutaway and button for a strap add extra touches a new guitarist will appreciate. Along with a quality gig bag to transport it short distances and accessories this is Donner's best value. And it is shipped double boxed and inside the gig bag with typical protection as well.     • Beautifully made and sounds incredible.
We got this for our 17 year old daughter. The guitar is beautifully made. And the sound is fantastic. I would encourage anyone to buy this for their beginner guitar players. It is so well made she will be able to hand it down to her own children in the future.
