  • Excellent!
Our Apollo is 14 yrs old and he's not walking very good now so to take him to the vet to just get his nails trimmed is an ordeal. Most of the reviews I read for these clippers were pretty good so I purchased them and hoped that they were easy to use. They arrived quickly and my daughter clipped Apollo's nails while I gave him some peanut butter to distract him. My daughter said they were really easy to use and Apollo didn't pull his paw away or anything he was pretty relaxed while his nails were being trimmed. So they worked perfectly and they were a great price. I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Adequate inexpensive clippers
With two large dogs and four cats (currently) I am always in the market for sharp, ergonomic claw and nail clippers. This pair, by Doggiez, has a nice sharp blade that can accommodate just about any size of nail. The blade is metal and heavy duty: this is the main selling point of the tool. The rest of the clippers are nothing special and they are almost entirely plastic. For comparison, I have photographed these clippers next to my favorite pair that I have used on countless dogs (medium and large) and cats for almost 25 years to highlight the differences and to illustrate why I give this pair by Doggiez a neutral rating. As I said, the Doggiez pair is almost completely plastic (as opposed to completely steel with a rubberized grip). As such, they are bulky which makes them comfortable to hold, but awkward to actually use. The handles are not ergonomic and are straight, which requires your hand to do all the work. The other pair has an ergonomic design which requires much less pressure to close the blade. As someone with arthritic hands and limited dexterity, the pair by Doggiez actually hurts to use. I can't imagine doing The spring of the Doggiez pair is a simple spring, compared to the robust metal coil of the other pair. Ditto the plastic lock vs. a metal one. The one thing the Doggiez pair has that the other pair does not is a nail file hidden in the handle. Although the file is coarse, I laughed when I took it out and saw how tiny it is. Good luck with that. Both sets of clippers have a safety guard against overtrimming and they are the same price point. I don't love or hate the Doggiez pair (hence the neutral rating) but I find them cumbersome to use, which is not what I need when dealing with a dog who doesn't want its feet handled in the first place. If you have never found your perfect pet mani-pedi tool, this might be the one for you. The price point is decent and they work well enough, but I don't see myself reaching for these like I do my other clippers. ... show more

  • Decent
I’m pretty picky when it comes to clippers but these were decent. Material of the handle feels like the same material they make toddler cups out of. They do stick a bit and came on the duller side. I hate the guard included on these but I knew beforehand that I’d have to yank that off. Over it’s a decent pair but you could definitely find better. ... show more

  • I'm glad it has a shallow guide
My dog hates his nails bring trimmed. I had a nail trimmer but I felt the guide was way too deep and it was easy to hurt my dog by accidentally trimming too close. This nail trimmer has the guide set way more to my satisfaction. There is also a smoothing emory type file inserted into the handle. As I was trimming my dog's nails, it fell out and I thought I broke the trimmers, ha ha! It was easily placed back into the bottom of the trimmer. I'm not going to traumatize my dog at this point by filing them after cutting...baby steps! But this is a sufficient trimmer and it worked just fine for us! I was less scared to hurt him and that is a great thing. The price is very competitive as well. My other trimmers were twice this price. ... show more

  • My dogs would tell you they're horrible, but they lie.
These worked great despite having to wrestle my rotten dogs. I could have clipped a grizzly bear's nails more easily. Having the guard to prevent going too far while fighting that battle was imperative. They cut very easily and quickly which was crucial for making this process go by as fast as possible. My Review Criteria: I do not review anything that I don't want/need for my own personal use and I have enough knowledge about it to provide accurate and useful details. I do tell it like it is and I am not influenced to provide feedback that isn't based on facts or my own experience. Therefore you can trust my unbiased review as if I were a friend looking out for your best interest and that of your hard-earned money. ... show more

  • Best clipper I have used
I previously had a cheap, clunky pair of clippers that my wife threw away because they always seemed to cause the dog to bleed. I replaced them with the Doggiez nail clipper. Here is my impression after one use: 1. Pleasant color handles and sturdy feel in my hand. 2. Handles have a bit of cushioning to them, which seems to give me better control. 3. The guard that helps prevent cutting too much nail off is stable and works. On my old clippers the guard was loose and useless. 4. Blades cut cleanly. My dog still doesn’t like it, but this makes the process faster. 5. In the end of one handle there is a small nail file that pulls completely out of the handle for use. Overall these clippers are a good value. My dog would give them a thumbs up, if she had thumbs. ... show more

  • Great item
Puppy allows me to clip his nails with these. They are easy to use and clean. They help keep my puppy happy and his nails healthy. They are very well made.

  • Decent budget clippers
This is one of those “you get what you pay for” products. If you’re looking for a pair of budget clippers for standard at-home pet use these will likely do the job. They clip nails as they should, all though I find them to be a bit on the dull side. The mail guard is more obnoxious than helpful so I flip it out of the way when in use. I don’t find the tiny file to be that useful either because of its size, but I suppose there’s someone out there who would use it. We use these mostly to quickly trim jagged nails from snags and such. ... show more
