This product has adequate air flow to blow water off and dry a dog in a reasonable period of time. The engine case and tools are platic. The heat does not have to be turned on. Perhaps not all dogs would be able to tolerate heat. Especially in the summer months. It is winter in New England and my dog was fine with the level of heat generated by the dryer. I think it is a fine system to groom the family dog at home. As long as there is care regarding the use of heat and not being too rough on the plastic attachment tools. The hose seems to be of good quality. Since the tools are not made of ruggid rubber they probably would not hold up to the wear and tear of constant use in a grooming shop longterm. This system would be good for a professional groomer temporarily, or as a back-up system. I used it once on my med/large size dog at home. I think it is a fine machine for people who want to give their dog a professional style grooming at home. I cannot attest to how long it will last; because i just got it. I plan to wrap it up safely in the box between uses so it won't get knocked around and ruined between groomings. ... show more

Our dogs (German Shepherd, Great Pyrenees, Catahoula Leopard cross have long hair with very dense undercoats, shed daily, swim regularly and get hot spots due to the skin not being dried enough. A regular hairdryer did not work on their coats, so we used a leaf blower to get the surface water off, but it didn't dry the undercoats. This is a game charger, after every swim it takes only a few minutes to dry them completely and they like it. The heat feature is a plus and the comb lifts the hair to dry the skin. We also use it when they are dry to to blow away shedding hair. It is powerful without being noisy. I would recommend this. ... show more
