  • VERY IMPRESSED. CUT THROUGH REALLY FAST.
Style: Pole Saw Size: Head Only - No Pole
Works really well. Attached it to my extension pole and took down lots of very high thick branches with it. Not sure my saws-all could have done it any quicker.

  • Great long pole saw with only a minor negative
Style: Pole Saw Size: 24 Ft
After a recent storm, the tree in our backyard had a few of the branches broken or bending towards the house scraping against the roof and siding. The branches that needed to go were high at around 30 feet (three-story townhouse). I called around for a tree trimming service and got two crews show up and quote me a whopping $400-450, so I decided no way I'm paying that and bought this off of Amazon. This took about 4 days to arrive instead of the usual 2 days of Prime shipping. Anyway, this thing is LONG and sturdy even fully extended. here are a few tips: 1. Some reviewers noted that the extended legs contract and expand with the saw movement. You may need to tighten both screws on each of the locks. I had absolutely no issue with the legs sliding. 2. Once fully extended, this becomes very unstable and hard to control (lever force) although it is relatively light by itself. I'd suggest you use the weight of the poles and saw by standing not directly under the branch, but away so that the saw "lays" on the branch. The more perpendicular to the branch the better. 3. I cut a few branches ranging from an inch to about 5 inches wide, but i guess the saw could handle a wider branch too. It's very hard to saw with the thing fully extended, so you must have a lot of upper body strength (or have someone help you). 4. Cutting in shorter swings helps and patience and stamina is needed. Note that once the saw is through the branch it may go flying towards where the force or gravity was applied and you could accidentally damage your neighbors or your own property if all 20+ feet of this falls on it :). So be sure to be extra careful once you are about to be through a branch. Now for the negative - I wish the saw had a hook at the very tip of it like other saws do. once a branch is cut, especially a smaller one, it may just snap at the cut and stay hanging on the tree and there is no way to pull it. What I did is once I was approaching the end of a cut and the branch started breaking I would slightly rotate the saw so that it stays in the cut. This worked but this is not reliable. Not a reason enough to take off a star though. Anyway, this thing saved me a few hundred dollars and I'm sure it will save me more money in the future as the trees will continue to grow and spread their branches. It is well constructed and the saw is sharp and cuts pretty effectively. Oh, and a WARNING. The pole is aluminum so make sure there are no electric wires where you are working. Considering how unwieldy this becomes when extended, working near wires can be very dangerous. ... show more

  • Multiple ways to attach
Style: Pole Saw Size: Head Only - No Pole
This is a 4 star product from a company with 5 star customer service. They also make the excellent BIG-REACH Pole Hook (NEW!), which also screws onto a broom handle. I like the concept of this saw alot, but wish it had more parts made of metal like their Pole Hook does. The engineer in me would have also designed this a little differently here and there, but overall it cuts well for how 95% of people will use it, and they need to make this at a price point that the masses will buy at. With that said, I don't consider this cheaply made or not sturdy (the plastic is hard and seems pretty tough), its just that a deluxe version would have been worth it to me. That would have mostly meant that the part you screw the saw into was made out of metal rather than plastic. I find the metal "female" on the Big Hook to have accepted more acme thread varations and was more usable with a variety of "standard" broom handles (which maddenly have some slight variability even when advertised as "Acme standard" thread). I would have also enjoyed a true "sheath" for backpacking with it, which it appears to have had at one time based on some older reviews. What it comes with now is a thin cardboard sleeve/"sheath". Some of the older reviews also said there were instructions on how to pop out the thread plug so that you could also put a stick into the hollow handle if you were backpacking, etc. Those instructions seem to be gone now, but yes, you can pop out the black thread plug without a lot of effort or causing damage, exposing the hollow handle's insides that you can then put a stick in almost all the way to the saw blade and then screw down. With the plastic providing several inches of stability, it works fairly well. There is screw you need to remove to pop out the thread plug, super easy. The extra blade makes this a good value. ... show more

  • One of the most useful pole attachments
Style: Pole Saw Size: Head Only - No Pole
We had some branches that were getting really overgrown against our house. But they were so high up that there was no way we could get to them. I thought we'd have to have a tree company out, until I found this saw attachment. I use this with a Mr. Longarm telescoping pole and it works really well. The blade is sharp and cuts through branches like butter. I was able to completely clean up our tall overgrown branches with this thing, and in a very short time. It took longer to clean up the cut-off branches than it did to saw through them. It was easier to use than I expected, perhaps due to the sharpness of the blade. To be fair, the branches I was cutting were mostly around an inch or so thick, so nothing particularly large. I also find this saw to be useful even without the pole. It cuts better than anything else I have, so I also use it on branches that I don't need a pole for. I'd like it if the whole thing was metal rather than just the blade. Despite the plastic, so far it seems to be quite sturdy and I've not had any signs of weakness from it. I'm really glad to have found this pole saw attachment. ... show more
