  • Fraudulent Claims and Shoddy Hardware - at least 8 out of 10 for failure
Color: 54w
Hmm... where to begin? Red light therapy works - if you have a reliable source with enough energy to do the job. This was promised to be an exceptional little light - and I really wanted the right thing for the job. This isn't it. It's impossible to do what it says, based on some real-world measurements. On top of that, it's physically flimsy, poorly wired, and not UL approved... Just don't do it - look elsewhere. The details, for those who want the facts: First, the physics. It's impossible for something to emit more energy than it consumes. I measured on the order of 60ma current at 118 volts with this light in operation. That's right about 7 watts total energy used. 7000 milliwats. The bulb is about 10cm across, surface area therefore about 80 square centimeters. If it was 100% efficient, divide 7000 mw by 80 and you get 87 mw at the surface. In the real world, power supply inefficiency and ac line power factor reduce this somewhat, say 55mw. The seller claims 220 milliwatts at the surface. That's bogus. Reality is 4x less at best. Ratings like this come from using the wrong equipment (solar light meters) to measure the output, yielding a result 2-4x higher than reality... and then sticking by them even if they defy the laws of physics. Using their own picture, and knowing each claimed power level is 1/4 what they say, I'd say "Oh, dear." Yup - less than 10mw/square cm at 6 inches. It's claimed to be good for deep tissue use, but it's iffy for that even with the light held against the body for long periods. Simply put, it's got too little penetration for that - and even at 6 inches away it's tailing off for the less demanding task of skin therapy as well. It claims 54 watts - but that's just the rating of the LED's, NOT what you get from the light itself. It's common in the industry to underdrive the LED's - but to this degree, it is getting ridiculous. What's more normal would be about a 20 watt consumption, bringing it up to about 150mw/cm at the lens surface. Pity it simply isn't so with this one. Then, take that bulb - which has no print on it anywhere, no voltage rating, no wattage, no current, no manufacturer name, no country of origin, no approvals, totally blank - and put it in a clip holder too light duty to hold it still (droops of its own weight), with an unlisted cord and switch that others have had catch on fire, then, have the gall to call that holder the "new and improved" version as if it were now something to brag about... and you have the perfect storm. Why only 8 out of 10 for perfect failure? Well, it does emit some red and infrared light. Then again, after the clip slips and it falls on the floor a few times, who knows? NOT recommended. ... show more

  • Real deal. Don't be fooled by cheap lights sold for $$$$
Color: 54w
An entire industry of "medical" and "therapeutic" and "dermatologist recommended" lights are cheap low power Chinese flashlights sold for $100+ This is the real deal. Powerful enough to actually do what red light therapy is intended to do, and all over your body. I use it in the morning a few times a week for eyes and skin, or just set it up as a shower light (make sure steam/vapors clear the room). I've never seen a light that doesn't reduce intensity when you close your eyes until now. That red light preices down to the muscle and stimulates mitochondria ... show more

  • Simple to use.
Color: 54w
I did not purchase it for pain relief so I have no experience in that aspect. Because it needs to be within 3 to 6 inches from the body, I built a stand for it. It is a foot long piece of 1" X 6" board. It can keep the lamp safe on counter, dresser or vanity. The board adds weight and balance to it. It can be pulled to the edge of furniture at the correct distance. ... show more

  • Product is as advertised, which is good.
Color: 54w
This red light therapy lamp arrived on time, in good working condition, and looks exactly like it appeared in the pictures - all good things that are not always true. I have only had the lamp for a few days and have only used it a few times, but I can report that it does put out a warm, red light when switched on. I will have to report back perhaps months from now to determine if all that warm, red light actually helps my skin, but at least I know that it works in the general sense. The light itself is heavy and seems of good quality, and the clamp seems well constructed and painted. The cord is of sufficient length to reach a nearby outlet, and the clamp holds the heavy lamp up when clamped onto my table end. The only reason I didn't give the lamp five stars is because the lamp itself is too heavy for the socket and sags in the socket hole. It does not effect anything significantly, however it makes me think that this socket and clamp were not designed for a light this heavy and were instead repurposed. My one bit of non-medical advice for those purchasing this lamp: invest in some very dark, if not completely opaque eye wear. The light from this lamp goes right through your eyelids, which might not be good. I'm not a doctor, but I personally ordered some heavy tanning bed glasses to wear so I could be more comfortable while the light was shining toward my head. ... show more
