I’ve been using the DJI Osmo Mobile 8 for quite a while now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best investments I’ve made for content creation. The stabilization is outstanding. Even when I’m walking, filming my kids, or recording around the house, my videos come out incredibly smooth and professional. The built-in tripod is surprisingly useful, and I use it all the time for hands-free filming. The ActiveTrack feature works extremely well, making it easy to film by myself without needing someone behind the camera. The combination of rock-solid stabilization, intelligent tracking that actually works, and seamless native app integration makes this an essential tool for anyone serious about mobile content creation. Top Highlights: 1. Apple DockKit Support = Revolutionary Tracking For iPhone users, this is massive. The gimbal now tracks subjects using Apple's native technology, which means tracking works in the iPhone camera app, Blackmagic Camera, Instagram, and 200+ other apps—not just DJI's Mimo app. The tracking is incredibly accurate and keeps you centered even when you move around. You can finally create professional-looking content without being locked into one ecosystem. 2. True 360° Pan Rotation Unlike predecessors that would hit mechanical limits, the OM8 offers unrestricted horizontal rotation. This enables smooth panoramic sweeps and continuous follow shots that were previously impossible. Perfect for dynamic product showcases or spinning reveal shots. 3. i've been using Osmo Mobile gimbals since the Osmo 3. Every model has its quirks, but also the osmo gimbals seem to get worse and worse as it progresses. I've had the OM8 a little over 3 months and now almost all of my footage is not stable and unusable. I'm not able to tell until i get back to the computer to review the footage. I've updated my ios software, checked if video stabilization is enabled (which it is), kept the mimo app up to date as well as the firmware when there is an update—none of it works. the only thing i can observe at this point is the joint where the telescopic selfie stick and the base of the gimbal swivels is a little shaky and doesn't sit flush with the top of the handle when the stick is collapsed. that shake could be the culprit, but also a result of the build quality of the gimbal that after 3 months it doesn't hold up. besides this specific model providing consistent shaky footage, the gimbal drifts more than its predecessors when doing simple movements. i'm constantly recalibrating or having to hold the gimbal still before it slowly reverts back to the calibration settings; gimbal drifting has progressively gotten worse with each model starting with the osmo mobile 5. but 8 takes the cake on drift. the setup is extremely quick hence the reason i keep using this mobile setup. it's a lot lighter than using a dslr camera and larger gimbal. i haven't used the remote control because i'm the only using this to not film myself, but to film real estate content, so i use it every day without the need of a remote control. the button functionality is ok and as i've mentioned, earlier models have been a lot better. the osmo mobile 3 is still the benchmark for these Osmo Mobiles IMHO

4.5 stars. Use this with a camera slide and it works very well. Bought a different mount (MagSafe) for it but it made it harder to balance it. Don’t mind the clamp style but MagSafe would make this 5 stars all day long. The DJI app produces great video quality from the options given, button layout is easy to learn, folds up easy and small to toss in a bag can use it as a tripod that follows you or just walk around with it making the versatility-vast, and it’s light weight. Compatible with large phones and smaller phones, Apple or Android adding to the versatility of this little device.

This has all the options you could ever want in a gimbal! It’s DJI so hands down the best and surprisingly this one is at a good price. This fits my IPhone 18 pro max perfectly and it’s really easy to use. It has the insert on the bottom so you can put it on a tripod, it’s lightweight and I wouldn’t recommend anything else, DJI is just superior in fit finish and quality.

Bought this to upgrade my Osmo Mobile 6 looking for more functionality with the AI tracking and the multifunction module and I’m going to say I’m happy I did. There is only 1 downgrade from the 6 to the 8 and that is the legs. The 6 offered screwed on tripod which is significantly larger than the 8’s fold out legs and thus, more stable. The trade off is storing the 8’s tripod is much easier since you just fold them into the unit so there is that. Personally, I prefer the larger tripod. Functionally, the 8 is a far superior beast. The multifunctional module is great. The tracking is spot on and the light is fantastic with brightness adjustment making for a decent little light to get those shots in the dark. Another BIG benefit is how the 8 folds when not in use. The 6 folds with the phone bracket pressed against the unit not allowing for it to be stored with the bracket on the gimbal. This has led to times where I grabbed the gimbal without the bracket attached or when I actually lost the bracket while on vacation. The 8 stores with the bracket angled away from the unit so you don’t have to disconnect the bracket to store it. The best thing for me though is the 360 degree rotation. What a great feature. Many times while shooting in an open room I’ve had to walk off camera and explain what was going on offscreen or grab the gimbal and adjust the angle continuously to keep me in frame leading to some pretty lousy shots and more time editing. In addition, the adjustment of the head angle also makes for many low angle shots that just aren’t possible on the 6. The stability seems to be the same which for me is great because my 6 has always been extremely smooth and is the reason I didn’t opt for another brand. Overall the redesign is phenomenal and I can’t recommend this unit enough. I’m looking forward to seeing what else this little beast can do.
