I’ve been using the DJI Osmo Mobile 8 for quite a while now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best investments I’ve made for content creation. The stabilization is outstanding. Even when I’m walking, filming my kids, or recording around the house, my videos come out incredibly smooth and professional. The built-in tripod is surprisingly useful, and I use it all the time for hands-free filming. The ActiveTrack feature works extremely well, making it easy to film by myself without needing someone behind the camera. Setup is quick, the controls are intuitive, and the battery easily lasts through long filming sessions. The build quality is exactly what you’d expect from DJI—solid, reliable, and durable. It folds up nicely, so it’s easy to carry in my bag without taking up much space. If I had one suggestion, it would be to keep in mind that very large or heavy phones with bulky cases can affect the balance a little, so I recommend using it without an extra-heavy case for the best performance. Overall, whether you’re creating content for social media, capturing family memories, or simply want smoother videos, this gimbal is absolutely worth the investment. I bought the DJI Osmo Mobile 8 Advanced Tracking Combo specifically to film my two puppies, Luca and Frankie, for our TikTok account @DailyDogHaiku, and it has completely transformed how I create content.The AI Native Tracking is exceptional — it follows the puppies smoothly even when they’re zooming around the yard or playing. The 360° pan rotation, built-in extension rod, and tripod make filming from any angle incredibly easy. The audio pickup is surprisingly clear, and the lighting accessory is a nice bonus for indoor shots.Battery life is outstanding (I easily get 8–10 hours), and the whole setup feels premium and well-built. As someone who films dogs daily, the smooth stabilization and intelligent tracking have saved me so much time and frustration compared to shooting handheld.If you create pet content, vlogs, or any kind of mobile video, this gimbal is worth every penny. Highly recommend the Advanced Tracking Combo — it’s made filming Luca and Frankie a joy!

This is my first Phone/Camera Gimbal and I have to say it has made a huge difference in my photos and films, I was able to film and track my Golden playing and running in the backyard with ease. I am disabled and have a serious hard time holding anything stable without twitching and shaking, I was also able to place it on its tripod base (which is how I think I will use it most) and go out and film myself with my dog. That was totally worth the price of admission and may lead to a larger Gimbal for my main camera gear so I can do better work with Pro gear which weighs a lot more. The clamping system fits just fine on my IPhone Pro Max 17 WITH a Supcase kickstand Unicorn Beetle Camera control cover phone case, that I feel adds more size to the width of the phone but seems to work just fine. Also commenting on being able to handle the weight, it does just fine. No stuttering, pausing, heating up, or resetting of the whole Gimbal. I have yet to utilize the microphone recording system but I’m sure it will do ok. As for the DJI Mimo app, it also works great and has good tutorials and use case scenarios, I still have more to study in that app to familiarize myself with it. All in all I am extremely impressed and happy with my purchase, DJI has done a great job with this equipment and seems to be a powerhouse in this field of gear, everything that I have bought made by DJI has been great.

The combination of rock-solid stabilization, intelligent tracking that actually works, and seamless native app integration makes this an essential tool for anyone serious about mobile content creation. Top Highlights: 1. Apple DockKit Support = Revolutionary Tracking For iPhone users, this is massive. The gimbal now tracks subjects using Apple's native technology, which means tracking works in the iPhone camera app, Blackmagic Camera, Instagram, and 200+ other apps—not just DJI's Mimo app. The tracking is incredibly accurate and keeps you centered even when you move around. You can finally create professional-looking content without being locked into one ecosystem. 2. True 360° Pan Rotation Unlike predecessors that would hit mechanical limits, the OM8 offers unrestricted horizontal rotation. This enables smooth panoramic sweeps and continuous follow shots that were previously impossible. Perfect for dynamic product showcases or spinning reveal shots. 3. Not terrible, but you'll want a power bank for all-day shoots. The USB-C charging (2.5 hours full charge) helps, and you can power it via power bank while filming. 2. App Dependency for Advanced Features While basic tracking works natively, unlocking the full feature set (SpinShot mode, hyperlapses, advanced gimbal modes, shot guides) requires the DJI Mimo app. The app is excellent, but Android users especially need to be aware they won't get the same Quick Launch experience that iPhone users enjoy with DockKit. Let me start off by saying I own a TON of DJI products. Normally, I love them all. Since I already own the OSMO Mobile 5 (or 6, I've lost count), I was very familiar with the OSMO gimbal line. I purchased this for some of the cool new features: ▶️ Infinite 360° panning...if I'm going to be running around my gimbal while it's on the ground. :-) ▶️ Native Apple DockKit tracking. This is amazing because it tracks you very accurately. ▶️ Active Track 8.0. You can track at long distances, and it utilizes dual-lens zoom support. The cool add-on that comes with active track attaches directly to the gimbal for better tracking, plus it has a light for those times when it is just a little dark. It's pretty bright too. ▶️ DJI OM multifunctional module. No annoying grip arms to hold your iPhone. Just snap it in place, and you're ready to go. ▶️ Extended battery life. I never had an issue with the battery life with my OSMO 5. But I haven't experienced having to charge this very often. ▶️ Tripod and Selfie mode. The older OSMO 5 had an extended tripod that you had to screw into the base. If you forgot it back in the truck, then you were out of luck. The OSMO 8 not only has a quick-deployable tripod, but it also has an extended selfie stick. Now for the cons: ❌The auto-on function. I never had an issue with putting my phone on my OSMO 5 and powering it up. The OSMO 8 has a feature that, as soon as you move the arm from its storage setting, the OSMO comes to life and is ready to shoot. The only problem is that if you have this in the cargo pocket of your pants and the gimbal slides out of its storage position, it turns on in your pocket. ❌ With the OSMO 5, you could be shooting with the selfie camera, and with a quick double-tap, you could switch to the other camera. Well, NOT with the OSMO 8. You have to stop recording, press the button, and then resume recording. This is quite annoying because I film a lot of hiking videos. ❌ IT DOESN'T COME WITH A CASE!!! It comes with just a bag. You think DJI would have sprung for a case. NOPE. ❌ There's still no quick calibration. If you feel like your gimbal is slightly off, you cannot simply double-click the trigger to reorient the camera. And it's not like you can just tilt your wrist. ❌ The easy-connect magnet for your phone is also connected to the gimbal by a magnet. It does not take much to watch your phone fall off the gimbal. ❌ NO LANYARD!!! The thing I still love about my OSMO 5 is that it comes with a lanyard attached to the base, so you don't accidentally drop it. On hiking videos, this is an ESSENTIAL TOOL. When you're done recording, you can fold it up and let it hang loose from your wrist. NOT with the OSMO 8. ❌ The selfie stick acts like it needs to be lubed, as it is not easy to extend it and push it back in. The last ❌ against DJI is that it never ceases to amaze me. I purchased the latest gimbal, and then less than 3 months later, they rolled out an OSMO 8P with a detachable viewer and other features. Why not wait or return it for the newest version? Don't get me wrong, I love my DJI products. But if I had my choice between my OSMO 5 and my OSMO 8, I would probably grab my OSMO 5.
