I have the original Osmo Action, and I love it. I think it’s one of the best action cameras made and probably one of the best vlogging cameras, especially if you put it in a cage and add a microphone. While there’s a good amount of upgraded stuff that doesn’t really matter to me, the Action 4’s image quality is cleaner, the low-light performance is much better, the stabilization is excellent, and the battery lasts longer. It also handles heat better, which matters when you’re recording for extended periods. Like the original DJI Action was, the Action 4 is now my everyday camera. The three microphones give it audio more like a Sony camera. A lot of the Sonys I’ve owned had great audio even without an external microphone. The magnetic mounting system is fast and convenient, provided I don’t lose it, and, like the original, the camera feels great in the hand for vlogging and longer recording sessions. I also like that it supports 512 GB microSD cards because I don’t always delete my footage. I hardly do any vlogging now, but I do want to start again, so this is a good place to begin. I’ve also used action cameras for filmmaking, putting them in places, where I didn’t want to risk my larger, more expensive cameras, such as mounting them to cars. The 10-bit color profile makes the Action 4 useful for that, especially if you plan to use it for professional work and color grading. Like the original, if you add a cage and a good microphone, this becomes a serious little video setup. The first Osmo Action made me a fan, but the Action 4 is the better camera overall. Pricewise, however, the original is still the better value if you don’t need the upgrades. You can sometimes find those for around $129–$139 in box on eBay. I haven't found any used but when I do, they're around $90. Honestly I mainly bought the Action 4 because it was on sale for $169 during Amazon Prime Day. Even now, on Amazon I’ve seen it priced around $199–$205 (best prices). I missed the $449 Mac Mini and had extreme FOMO. The DJI osmo action 4 is an incredible camera with extremely great video features and stabilization It supports 10bit D-log, allowing it to be colougraded. On a camera I picked up for around 160 USD, these specs are incredible ( comparible to proper video cameras prices much higher ) As a videographer, is nice to have a tiny video camera can I fit in my own pocket. It's versatile, and can be used quite anywhere, and can connect to your phone to send videos or for live view, meaning I don't need to bring cables and a SD card reader. The batterylife is on the lower side however, but for a camera this small, it's pretty impressive. Nothing compared to a DSLR, but to a budget mirrorless, it's pretty similar. The photos are also decent. They aren't super high in megapixel, but they can be shot in RAW format, allowing more flexibility when editing in post. ... show more

I traded my canon m50 for this and would do it I. A heart beat again. This camera can be used for cinematic drone flights and deep sea diving trips. I’ve used it surfing, snowboarding. Vlogging and always has a place on either my helmet or windscreen of the bike. This camera is almost always within arms reach of me. I’ve def customized it w a couple upgrades and always have a couple extra batteries w me but I can’t see buying a new one anytime soon. I don’t know how they can make the image look better. I don’t need extra effects or slower slow motion capabilities than 120fps in 1080. Potentially in 4k as well but the stabilization may be effected? While those things can be upgraded. It sounds nice on paper but how often will I use that feature? Never, I’ll use it as an excuse to spend money and then force myself to use the new features in a video to say it’s useful and show off cool tricks to my friends and then straight back to 4k 24, 4k 60 and a neewer ND filter that screws on where the lense used to. Amazing set up. You’ll never need another camera. It even takes amazing group photos or high quality images of you find something breathtaking and want that image forever or trying to hit the right thumbnail without switching cameras and locating all cards used. 1 card, 1 camera, done! In reality do you need more or anything other than this? It does everything and none of us are millionaire professionals so why critique equipment beyond the skill level? ... show more

    • So Much Better than I ever expected !

Was leary about the action4, now strongly a believer! I got the $199 package. You do have to buy the SD card, a charger, cable adapter… separately . (Might have been better to Upgrade to the larger package). I was a bit leary to mount this to my cruiser motorcycle. I left the camera in factory mode with only 2 exceptions 1) turned on horizon, balance, and 2) went from 1080 and I set it to 4K. I rode on bumpy roads (I was shaking from poor road cond). Later, When reviewing the video the “stabilization” and horizon balance was absolutely tremendous the clarity was tremendous . The colors were just absolutely awesome and I haven’t nor do I really know how to make any adjustments. it is perfect right out of the box. I was worried about clarity. It was much better than I ever expected. I compared the video to my iPhone 14 pro. No match whatsoever. Action4 blew it away! I did not try photo or underwater. I would expect it to do well . The sound quality actually picked up my voice better than expected, but there was a lot of wind noise, but this is using the cameras mic at 50 miles an hour with no microphone filters no external Mike just the camera mic. But I can confirm video quality as fantastic. I do believe the higher end GoPro‘s $400-$700 would probably be much better, but you really couldn’t tell that unless maybe you put them side to side which I did not do. I did compare it to my iPhone 14 Pro Max and the video on the iPhone was not even close to the quality of the action 4. I am very happy with the exceptional quality of this camera.
