  • Fantastic RTF Drone Fantastic RTF Drone
Style: DJI Mini SE
I’ve been eying drones for a while and when the Mini SE hit the market everyone said it’s an amazing value for the money. This is my first serious drone (flew small toy drones before but never one with range and decent video capabilities). It comes ready to fly, the DJI app is great in training and explaining controls on the remote and how to use them in flight. I love the map. The video is obviously fantastic. I love the return to home functionality and how it’s designed in the app (you push and hold on screen until the circle completes so no accidental operation). I love the speed and the variable styles of operation. I did get a landing pad as i often launch from the grass in the park and the props don’t love that. The range is something that could be better as the video falls apart fairly quickly if it gets away, but I guess the battery life would be the bottleneck. I do get 20 mins out from the battery on a good day. I got two extra batteries to maximise my flying. I have a lot to learn but this little love has brought me so much joy already - money well spent! ... show more

  • Wow! My First Drone and it is a winner! Wow! My First Drone and it is a winner!
Style: DJI Mini SE
I bought my first drone so I could get some video from the air when needed. I have been blown away. I did crash it on my 2nd flight, but I was low-level and in between 2 houses (learning experience). I use it almost daily to get sunset shots and videos, as I live in Central Florida and our sunsets are fantastic! Then I used it to check on my house's and neighbors' roofs. It stays where you want it and it goes where you guide it. Yes, a spotter is helpful if you are around trees, houses and power lines. You do get focused on the images and can lose sight of safety issues that may crop up. I would recommend this as a starter/recreational drone. I am sitting video in 2.7K as YouTube will convert down anything larger. The 2.7K video and freeze-frames are very high quality. If you need to make prints, then take the digital snapshot so you get the large digital photo file. I attached a sample flight from my testing phase. I went up to a construction site, stood in a parking lot and moved it around to see how it reacts. I am confident that it will go where I send it and do what I want with it. I did send it down a golf course hole and lost sight for a minute, so I hit the return to home button and it came back in sight. Still getting used to all the features and items on the phone app like the map feature and recording modes. The bottom line, it is a great starter drone with GPS. It is Stable, Goes where you want it, and is a great resource for photographers and videographers. Could probably do more but I don't want to test the distance and height limits. I had it up about 35 to 40 meters and it got these great sunset shots. BUY IT! Revised 3-27-23 Used my drone near an airport. Got a warning that I accept responsibility for flying it in a warning area. I usually don't take it higher than 115 feet. A medical helicopter flew overhead. They were approx 400 feet AGL and I don't think I could have reached them. Love this drone and I find ways to use it every week! ... show more

  • This thing is awesome
Style: DJI Mini SE
This drone is great. This is the first drone Ive ever purchased and it has far exceeded my expectations. No wonder people enjoy this hobby so much! I followed a few youtube videos to make sure I knew the basics, and then got it out, and updated everything. I saw some complaints about the app. After seeing some posts online about it, I did have to download the DJI app for my Samsung Note10 from the web, NOT from the appstore. Not a big deal, you download it, then go to your download files (just swipe down and search download) then click it and install. After that I updated the app, connected to the drone, and updated firmware. This thing is awesome. Super easy to use. I changed the controller settings to setting 3 (which mimics most video game flying controls, like GTA for instance.) And immediately I was a natural. On my third flight I put it in sport mode and got a bit too brave. I tried to skim over a dirt hill and hit it head on. It was full of dirt and I broke a propeller. Fortunately, it comes with spares and all you need to replace. there was some sand grit in the prop motors, which I used a air compressor to spray out. After carefully removing the dirt, I went to settings and recalibrated the gimble. BACK TO FLYING GOOD AS NEW. For the money, I dont think you can beat this thing. it has a great range, a good camera (Its just under 4k and doesnt lag at all) and is forgivingly durable. I look forward to using this on many travel destinations. ... show more

⭐ Overall Impression: Small drone, big creative impact The DJI Mini Neo is one of those tools that quietly becomes essential once you start using it. It’s compact, easy to carry, and surprisingly powerful for content creation and practical projects. While it’s not a high-end cinematic drone, it hits a sweet spot for everyday use. 🎥 Perfect for Social Media & Content Creation One of the biggest strengths of the DJI Neo is how effortlessly it helps with social media posts. With built-in 4K stabilized video and smart tracking, you can capture smooth, professional-looking clips without needing advanced flying skills. Great for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube content Automatic tracking keeps you in frame (perfect for solo creators) QuickShots and AI features make editing easier It’s basically like having a personal cameraman that fits in your backpack. 🎉 Ideal for Events & Gatherings For events like birthdays, outdoor parties, or small gatherings, this drone really shines. Its ability to launch from your hand and fly autonomously makes it super convenient in casual settings. Captures unique aerial angles you can’t get with a phone Safe design with propeller guards makes it less intimidating Simple controls mean almost anyone can use it You don’t need to be a drone expert to get great shots. 🏠 Useful for Practical Projects (Roof Inspections, etc.) The DJI Neo is also surprisingly useful for practical tasks like roof inspections or quick property checks. Easily check gutters, shingles, or damage without climbing Lightweight design makes it easy to maneuver in tight areas Stable footage helps you clearly see details It’s not a professional inspection drone, but for homeowners or small projects, it’s incredibly convenient. ✈️ Travel-Friendly & TSA Approved Convenience One of the best features is how travel-friendly it is: Weighs well under 249g, which avoids many drone regulations Small enough to fit in a carry-on or even a large pocket Generally allowed through TSA in carry-on luggage (like most consumer drones) This makes it perfect for trips, vacations, or content creation on the go without hassle. ... show more

  • A great place to begin your drone journey
Style: DJI Mini SE
A few weeks ago, I saw a video on the HolyStone HS11D drone. It seemed like a fun and relatively stable drone given it's price of around $65. I learned to fly it and had some fun but most importantly, it let me know what else I might want in a drone. Although easy to fly, even for a complete novice, I still managed to crash it several times as it lacks any form of self-protection beyond a rudimentary altitude hold. Also, the camera was fixed with a max resolution of 1080 with no stabilization and the image quality was not really great. So what is the next step up? The shopping checklist was primarily : 1 - a better camera with directional control, 2 - GPS position stability, 3 - self-recovery/return to home facility. The other important criteria was cost and I was not in the market for anything above $300, regardless of any extra features that a higher budget cap may offer. Most research I did suggested that the Mini SE was essentially a DJI Mini 2 with a Mini 1 camera. There are a few other Mini 2 features that are omitted from the SE but they were things I could live without, for now at least. I pulled the trigger an with 24 hours the Mini SE was on my doorstep. Setup was a little more complex that the simple HS110D. There were extra physical hardware and software setup steps, including a firmware update that I managed to skip for the first flight. I tried to update but it failed. For the first flight I used an iPhone as the app was instantly available in the App Store. I didn't fly high or far but already it was a much calmer experience as the drone stays in position if you don't give any input unlike the HS110D which was happy to drift into the nearest obstacle unless you're maintaining 100% control. After landing, I went back inside to recharge and learn some more of the features, setup the camera and tweak some other parameters for RTH, etc. For the second flight, I switched to Android but unlike the iPhone, the app needed to be downloaded from DJI as it's not available in the Google Store. This time I went on a slightly longer test flight and engaged RTH features to get confidence in the system. Video footage was impressive and inline with my expectations. Everything worked fine. Still early days, but I feel a lot more confident in flying this drone, both through my own abilities and the abilities of the drone itself. Sure, for more money, you obviously get more and one day I may feel the need to invest more. But for now, I'm more than happy with the feature set and capabilities offered at this price point and I couldn't identify a better drone for the $300 that would suit my requirements. ... show more

  • Terrible documentation BUT great drone
Style: DJI Mini SE
UPDATE: Finally flew it and promptly treed it on the second day. In brief, it’s a great flyer. The controls are precise and the interface is intuitive. With the SE, bc of its lightness, you have to be cognizant of gusts near trees. It supposedly can resist winds up to 18 mph, but you don’t want to be at 60 feet, near a tree, and test that capacity. Here are the problems I encountered upon unboxing. 1. There is no user guide included. You won't learn that unless you happen to watch user videos on Youtube. [PS keep scrolling to the bottom of the Amazon product page] 2. The user guide is online and 47 pages long. You have to print it out. [PS You can also download to Kindle] 3. It won't record unless you buy an SD card. You won't learn that unless you happen to watch user videos on Youtube. 4. It won't sync without the app and if the app doesn't sync (as it did not for me) it won't tell you why. [ 5. The only support listed is Facebook Messenger. [PS there is a phone number listed at the bottom of the product page. Keep scrolling past the useless information.] 6. Very important: take the protective case off your phone. All of these things should be stated front and center. There are probably more but I had to vent before attempting to get it to sync again. ... show more

  • Awesome little drone!!! Awesome little drone!!!
Style: DJI Mini SE
I've been flying the DJI SE for about a month now and it is so easy and user friendly. Only complaint was having to add the app to my android (Samsung galaxy a20) via online as opposed to Google play store. That was tedious and annoying, but by no means a deal breaker or reflection of this drone and how great it has been. The pictures and video quality are more than sufficient for my needs as a hobby. It connects easily to my phone and app. It flies well even on a breezy day. The range is not as far as advertised, but not sure I would fly it much farther than it goes anyway. The battery life is more than sufficient. I purchased a refurbished battery as a back up and to add to my flight time. It is small and packs easy. It is a great deal and very affordable. I highly recommend this drone for beginners or those not wanting wanting to break the bank on a more expensive drone. ... show more

  • Excellent high-quality beginner drone
Style: DJI Mini SE
The Mini 2 SE is the Best value-for-money. Lots of good things to say and a few minor weaknesses ... First, the drone is light at 249g and does not require a drone license from the FAA. It is very stable in wind, with an excellent 2.7MP camera and stabilizing gimbal. Phone software works well and notifies you of updates & works with FAA in restricted areas (e.g. near airport). Negatives - realistic battery life of 20-25 min is OK (but good at this price bracket), and the battery drains to 80% after 2 weeks of non-use (I have 3 batteries, so not a 1-off fluke). I have had several accidents with tree branches, and repair is not cheap - get Asurion warranty! Unfortunately, it has no collision avoidance (side/front/back/above). Get propellor guards, but the official DJI black guard are fragile and they break easily. I own the DJI guard, but prefer my alternates amazon.com/dp/B09C1YTB51/ Final opinion is that this DJI Mini 2 SE drone is fantastic bang for the buck, and I strongly recommend it. ... show more
