If you are a beginner you may want to start with a different brand, unless you like a challenge (I do). Lots of finicky little parts, use caution when removing them from the cut-outs. Use an exacto knife to cut through the very small tabs holding it in before trying to remove the part. Those videos that show people simply popping out the parts are misleading. I made a few upgrades with craft paper for wallpaper and added a programmable music box. I installed the music box on the bottom so I raised the house a bit and added fake stones made of egg carton. I have built about a dozen little houses and this was fairly easy given my experience.

I’ve done five of these book nook kits and this one by far was the most frustrating. They used thin paper that was cut way smaller than pictured for a variety of items. This thin paper made it very difficult to work with. Other ones I have done used much thicker construction paper and that made it much easier to work with. The Instructions were vague in spots, I had no idea what to glue and what not to glue. The tolerance on the cuts were awful, most were so tight they needed sanding to fit. But then the furniture pieces were so loose and difficult to put together I gave up. The wiring kit for the lights are a nightmare. Super small cheap wires that are near impossible to assemble. Only 2/3 of the led lights worked. You have to assemble the wires after most of the kit is done and the space you have to work with is way to small. I realize it’s a DIY kit. But just give me a simple already assembled lights and battery pack. Eventually after 12 hours into the kit I gave up and threw it in the trash. I really hated giving up. But as you can see in the picks, I think they misrepresented many items sizes. I wouldn’t ever buy one of these from this company again.

This "doll house" was very different than others I have done. They were sort of a plug and play, very nice. But no real way to personalize the out come. With this one you can move objects around to suit yourself. This is not to say it's easy. You have to cut out the pictures and glue them to the right puzzle piece. I do agree with others, the paper is to thin and can tear easily. The wooden pieces are difficult with the thin pieces tending to snap or even come apart. The directions and pictures that come with it are confusing and hard to read or see the pictures. No, reading the instructions before you start building I don't think that would help. There were times it drove me nuts. But I don't toss/trash anything if I can find a way to fix it. That is what I did with this puzzle/doll house or whatever it is called. It took me nearly 16 days to finish. In the end I think I like this type of puzzle. But be ready, it is not easy and the directions can be confusing. For me, now that I know what to expect. I will be getting more of this type of puzzle.

Pros: the wooden parts are made well although they are sometimes difficult to align and insert. You might want to have a small craft hammer with a plastic head available and some glue. There are some wonderful colors among some of the wood structures and the plants have a nice variety and easy to assemble. Overall a very nice display Cons: clear glass panels are poorly labeled and it is hard to find the film that covers it. If you scratch at the edge of the window insert it will eventually start to peel. They are also poorly cut pieces, i.e, the “glass window” does not have cuts in them that align with where they should be inserted. In fact, they aren’t cut at all and all but impossible to assemble where instructed. The instructions are not chronological and I’ve seen better instructions in some of the other booknooks I’ve completed. There was an upgrade with a music box that has to be ordered but no instructions on where or how to order. I might recommend this for someone who has put earlier ones together and I would not recommend this book nook as the first one you might put together and I’ve done several of them. Would recommend glue, a small craft hammer in case you have difficult inserting the pieces together
