This is a well built device, sturdy and of good quality; it's all metal. At least everything that meets the eye, bar the LED screen. It's quite a precise measuring instrument and I found it reliable enough to measure tolerance and gaps during technical/engineering work. I like the protective case, it send a clear message that this instrument is to be treated with care and not be thrown around the workshop. When I opened it, the calipers were inside, wrapped again in protective plastic. From its slightly hefty weight, I could tell this was a quality instrument. I was intrigued that it appeared the LED screen looked dull; luckily it was just the protective film. Very thoughtful of the vendor to provide a spare battery. I was able to open the battery compartment; a "prying" key is provided for that purpose. Because that key is pointy, I thought I was supposed to poke some hole to get the compartment to pop open, but actually I just needed to use the pointy end to "pull" or flip open the compartment. Was surprised by the quality of the calipers for the the price! They are a great purchase and accurate. Compared them with measurements from my Mitutoyo calipers an exact same measurements! The on/off feature is also terrific. The extra large display is also a big plus. Great purchase!

Quality and accuracy was good. Readout was down to 128th of an inch. Much prefer 1/64 minimum. Listing in the add didn't specify. Returned it for a different one with the 1/64" readings.

For all those that say the display comes scratched..it does not! The display comes with a very thin, well applied, plastic membrane as a screen protector. Yes the protector comes scratched as it’s easily distorted by anything it contacts. I choose to leave these things on until they outlast their usefulness and then peel them and have a flawless screen. I peeled back a tiny piece of the corner to verify. So do not make a purchase decision based on all the prior reviews about screen scratches.. I gave four stars as likely in shipping (small box in another box that was to big with no padding) the main set of blades came offset a tiny bit. Accuracy is great for the price, solid unit, and has fractional measurements on the beam. I am not a machinist and do not need decimal measurements. Very happy with this purchase! ... show more
