EDIT: It's been a few years since I ordered the 32s and I have been slacking on bike riding since. I have gone up to size 36. I am planning to ride a lot this summer again so I decided to order one of these in 36 and also grabbed some new wrangler shorts in 36. These in size 36 measure 36.5 while the 36 wranglers measure 38.5. 2 full inch difference is way bigger than I had with the only 1 inch difference in 32s with the Wranglers being worn out. I don't know if this inconsistent difference is on Dickies end or Wrangles end (or both) but I definitely think a size up is needed at 2 inch difference. It could however just be that wranglers run large and these are proper size, hence why I am telling the measurements. It makes sense to me that 36's should be about 36 inches, but I question a lot of the measurement systems we use sometimes. Original: I measured my old worn out 32 Wrangler shorts and they have a circumference of 34 inches. Size 32 of these measures about 33 inches. They are admittedly smaller but these are new and my other shorts are worn out so I think they are likely fairly close to the same size when both new. As for the length shown in the picture, that depends how tall you are and how high up you wear them. I got these for wearing on bike rides since I cant have bagginess in the crotch area when pedaling and regular shorts ride up to show over half of my thighs when worn up that high. These shorts stop right at my knees when worn this high.

So far, so good. I have washed these shorts several time without any loss of color, shrinking, or seam splitting. My boyfriend is 6'5", so it's difficult to find shorts that aren't TOO short for him. These fall right below his knees, which is great. I like the strong velcro-latch pockets. The pockets have not become mishapen or lumpy like they do with other cargo shorts. I also really like the metal latch above the zipper, as opposed to a button. Those buttons ALWAYS come off. This is a much more secure way to fit the waist, and for him (size 36) they fit perfectly. Great buy, we'll be getting more like it.

For the last couple of years I used shorts from a linen company we used at my job. The shorts they provided worked fantastic for the job I was doing. I have since left the company and the shorts I used them as long as I could. I looked on Amazon for something close to those shorts but I found these Dickies shorts and they exceed the shorts I used to wear, and I had not worn the Dickies brand shorts for work before. I received them at home and tried them on and they fit amazing. They are the right length, comfortable and won’t cause me any issues doing my normal job function.

Fabulous. Exactly what I expected. They’re baggy in all the right ways, just like I’ve been wearing since high school. I definitely suggest getting the rinsed ones unless you want to wear them as a uniform for EMS or something. Rinsed are still dark but they lose the sheen these have when heavily dyed and they are less stiff. I’m 6 ft and they hit like the center of my knee. Always order a size up for anything dickie. If you want them baggy, two sizes from what would normally be sitting on your waist will be chill and comfy. Tough material but breathable and moves. All in all, one of my favorites. For reference, I’m a 36 normally and I wear 38 in the pants which I want to look respectable. The shorts I got in 40 to be baggy.

Good, durable shorts for wearing around, general activities, gardening, lounging. If you're a bit dense as I can sometimes be, okay for short hops on the Harley too. One pair didn't keep its black color so well, but so far my other two pairs - black and navy - are holding up. If you like the long shorts look, they look good too.
